0:46 what the motherfuck i'm seeing here ...did that blue skin alien girl's legs just transform into a snake tail?! this acid trip is predicting takeover of earth by hostile reptilian aliens from Alpha Draconus star system!
I'm happy some other posters have noticed the Heavy Metal / Nausicaa valley of the wind connections. My boyfriend (yes, we're gay - gayer than fantastic planet in fact) and I were watching the South Park episode with Cheesing the other night and it spoofed Heavy Metal - and we were reminiscing about it because we had both seen it in our pasts, and he asked "have you ever heard of 'fantastic planet?'" and I was like omg! yes! I stumbled upon it by accident years ago. I'm glad others did too lol
@Solicyte Why do you have to tell us you're a fag? Why do you think everyone should know what you do with your genitals? Why was it necessary to point that out?
@w35m4n I didn't freak out. I pointed out the irrelevancy of talking about what you do with your genitals. No one needs to know that you're a homosexual in a Fantasic Planet video.

notice how that om always sticks its ass out when it walks or stands or whatever...it's because it's a fruity motherfucker...this whole movie is about the beginning of AIDS
@Johnlindsey289 Frank Herbert really was a sci-fi Genius. He influenced the movie Avatar as well with Jesus Incident. Name of the planet is even the same, Pandora.
Well James Cameron is a fan of Herbert and FP, he borrowed from alot of sources. Such as Fantastic Planet, Broken Arrow (1950), Ferngully, Nausicaa, Castle in The Sky, Last of the Mohicans, Dune, Star Wars, Starchaser Legend of Orin, Princess Mononoke, Willow, The Dark Crystal, Star Trek movies/episodes, Lightyears, Wizards, Heavy Metal (Both magazine and animated movie), world history, My Neighbor Totoro, Pom Poko etc.
"Our planet Yon possesses a single satellite, Fantastic Planet. We utilize this uninhabited planet for meditation. Yon is divided into several oovas. Two of the oovas, Strom and Yaat, are natural and symmetrical. Among the other oovas are Tonda, the largest. It is completely covered by blue isconic masses which cause extreme temperature variations, from eight to two hundred forty three lycas, and is therefore inaccessible to replica-exploitation...."
@mudderfocker I love the info sequence. The lesson narrator's voice is so soothing and hypnotic! I would love to learn this way.... From what the above says I can assume that Ygam is divided in to provinces or uvas. Blue isconic masses have a wide temperature variation.... like hot ice bergs? And some parts of the Draag home-world are habitable to replicate city and dwellings there. Also if you notice in the council, each uva is governed by a Master.
@mudderfocker I love the dispassionate hypnotic voice that narrates the lessons. From the lesson we can discern that oovas are continents, and that the planet goes through three seasons, one being crystallization. The lesson goes on about omallian globes that regulate the pressure. So the Draags have technology to control the weather too. I am looking forward to reading the book!
This is quit an acid trip.
But at least it is original, and so far--I can't stop watching.
I hope the ending is good.

I love those little details. Adds a sense of mystery to the whole thing, ironically, through giving further information.
Oh, and it's "Ygam", not "Yon", I'm afraid.
