  • ur Wingin iT bra!

  • If your stupid enough to post self damaging text and photos on your social pages; you have absolutely no business taking up space at a major university. Amazing how despite the warnings there are plenty of geniuses out there who continue to do so.

  • I pretty much make a status update on facebook everyday for the past 2 months about how I'm "working on app supplement essays" or "finishing up some apps" lol

    I guess I'm set haha

  • Scholarships, grants may have strings also attached to them. Such as no booze, drugs, committing crimes and the like. You may still get into school but your scholarship may disappear. When I worked in a small town farm dealership ten years ago the cops busted a beer party four kids lost their full ride scholarships.

  • what if its in my messages? can they see it then?

  • That hardly seems fair. What you do outside of school may not be the way you act in school. I know many people who are out partying every weekend and are straight A students.

  • how stupid

  • whow...................

  • America is very backwards in this regard.

  • PICKY AMERICAN COLLEGES!

  • OMG!!

    is this really true?!

  • wow this is really true

  • hmmm;; thank god i don't use my real name for myspace :] lol

  • man, a way to avoid this is simply to make your profile private -_-

  • HAHAHAHA SO EASY or a fake name

  • too bad that doesn't work either

  • hey idiots

i hate to break this to you, but myspace and facebook are public domains.

anything you post on them instantly becomes viewable to whoever wants to see it.

but then again, you really cant blame kids for posting pictures of themselves smoking out of bongs, or drinking underage, can you???

    GROW UP!

this is real life, not some comfortable little game that caters to your every need.

  • y'all so stupid---

Just don't post shit that can be used against you, asswipes. No, it's not privacy being broken into--I mean, really. Colleges just really want who the hell they accepted. Think before posting any last-minute bombs in your profiles that while eventually set off disastrous results.

pfft, please. Have a life outside the damn desktop.

  • wait how the heck can they check ur profile if its set to private, ive heard they can get some special software?

  • you just pretend to be a hot chick and send them a message saying "i think i went to school with you". then request to be their freind. i have requested to be freinds with people i never knew at all and they accept.

  • they hack into it or get permision from the site

  • EXACTLY my thoughts because EUROPE has MORE freedom then in this country . . I find people in EUROPE (and the police) aren't doing their best to hide and surpress fascistic, psychotic, tendencies . . . and to CONTROL everyone . . here people have become pussies. Time to grow some balls folks !

  • "if it's brought to their attention". do you really think they try to find each applicants myspace page? that job would suck.

  • That doesnt seem at all right. Colleges are going to delve into the, somewhat private lives of college applicants? I think that's WAY over stepping the boundaries of the educational institutions.

  • omg...i can only imagine waht they would think of my ,my space..lol

  • David Hawkins is my hero.

  • The description is incorrect.

He said if inappropriate web posts are 'brought to their attention'...

So they do not devote their own time to separately look you up on facebook and/or myspace.

  • I'd say YouTube is affecting my performance in college than Myspace or Facebook.

  • hah

  • HAH

  • Um, but what in these cases is defined as 'innapropriate'? "Innapropriate beliefs", or just idiots posting pictures of themselves Drunk and with pot symbols and other stupid bullshit?

  • the whole manufactured college education system is failing anyways, so who cares.

  • keg stand isnt grounds for revoking college admission...dont start getting worried...

  • umm yes individuals who post innapropriate conntent on social networking site should be coutious

    lmao

  • It's not necessarily a violation of privacy, though it certainly is scummy.

  • Important lessons here: 1) Don't post photos/information that you *really* wouldn't want someone important seeing (i.e. boss, mother, dean). 2) Privacy settings are there for a reason - use them!

I'm on Facebook, but my name is common enough to produce several search results, and you have to be my friend on FB to see my profile. But if a potential boss got in there and rejected my app because I read a certain book or support the "wrong" political issue, I wouldn't want to work for them, anyway.

  • I believe what he was saying as " inappropriate content " most likely referred to racist views, or expressions of instable views of hostility, & simliar things along that nature, or even if your posting would give one an impression that you are an unsavory character.

  • You're probably right, but I did read a magazine article that indicated bosses were rejecting applicants because of stupid reasons like someone being too into games. (I'd cite the source, but unfortunately I can't recall.)

  • Well, let's take your example of someone " being to into games ", & say you was a potential boss, how would that look to you ?

You have to recall, image is everything, & while you may be the best for any job, if your web page gives the impression that you are immature....

  • thats just shit!!!!!!!

  • its gay so wut

who cares about ur myspace like that

  • Ha, that's why I don't use my real name on my myspace search!

  • This is really great advice. The next time I commit a felony I'll be sure to avoid posting pics of it on MySpace.

  • Colleges have no bussniess searching for a facebook or myspace thats why you make it privite

  • If its on the internet it is not private, even if you make it private.

  • nah, I think it's for the best. I've met a few people who are extremely fake when applying for colleges and they characterize this entirely different person to the school from who they really are. GPA is not always the best measure of a person's intelligence and certainly doesn't represent their appearance. The internet has aided in eliminating people taking responsibility for themselves. This is wrong. Colleges are trying to make professionals, not social networking drag queens.

  • smoke weed, blah, blah, blah, inappropriate, college, myspace, facebook, stay out of school kids.

  • Those college teachers are probably pervs. Probably use that as an excuse to look at young students profile.

  • Well, thats pretty inaccurate when there are no nude pictures.

  • I think it's a matter of opinion. But i think it's a bit much really.

  • wow thats why people use nicknames therefore if you do look up my facebook or myspace page your not going to find anything under my government name so jokes on them LMFAO

  • are u serious soo i pay 20,000 a year for a college and i have a facebook myspace and bebo and ning and migente profiles soo i am fucked wen they find out ..yeah right ..u could suck it..

  • no ones saying you can't have one, just don't be a fucking idiot on them...unless you are one.

  • thank goodness, i'm already in college.

    haha suckers :)

  • i like you bonnieprincewilly

    youre a straight shooter

  • nowadays you get extra credit for being on facebook instead of myspace...and you graduate when you realize youtube is the place to be!

    ;)

  • I think it's a matter of opinion. But i think it's a bit much really.

  • So If I posted a proud picture of my cock on my facebook, then I wouldn't get into college, is that what you're saying. Certainly if I post I'm a flaming dyke on my myspace, you don't suspect I'll loose my in at Yale. Smoke weed.

  • i'm the dean of admissions at Yale and I liked your comment so much I would like to offer you one free year of tuition at our fine school. please consider it, smoke weed

  • Did you people not listen to the video? You probably just read the title and reacted. He said the criteria was 1 person being rejected for any reason, most typically academic or disciplinary reasons, and that makes up the 'staggering' 35% of revoked admissions. Not because of your stupid Facebook page.

  • I'm kind of wondering now if a great Myspace or Facebook account can get you a promotion, or it it just one sided like doing bad things gets you a record and doing good things gets you nowhere above anyone else.

  • This is a good lesson that lasts a lifetime. Whenever you put something online or in an email imagine the last person in the world you would want to see it... seeing it! Your boss, parents, significant other, etc.

  • It's in light of your comment and the fact that I know that people on the internet usually do the exact opposite of what you've said that I find this video intensely funny!

  • ahahahaha that's so true

he looked so stupid when he was talking about it

  • lol, that's funny. Colleges are looking on your facebook and myspaces.

  • SINCE the BEGINING.

  • now thats some bs
