@AireSound I agree, but Clapton hold his authentic Blues heros in very high esteem and has went to great lengths to show their obscure works and get them recognized as artists.
@AireSound before they get millionaires.....they were playing hours and hours in their shitty at roomsat age of 15.... in london........and kept their faith....so keep complainig if you want....
WOW! This is HOT Sheeee Yit! Thank goodness Jagger finally broke out the harmonica. Feared he wasn't going to do so for a few minutes. Clapton has always played great with the Stones, and vice-a-versa. There was a brief moment after Mick Taylor left when it appeared Clapton might take his place in the Stones. Rejected finally I think 'cuz Keef wanted someone who would stay "for the long haul" and not split after a few years. Would have been one heck of a few years though!
me acuerdo y tengo grabado en vhs este recital del 89. ese dia lo grabe y me fui a jugar a los videos tipo 12 de la noche en Asamblea y Centenera y me llevaron preso por primera vez "por ser menor". Como olvidar ese momento...
I was there. The sound was lousy, and -- at least from my seat near the back of the Convention Center -- it wasn't clear who had come on stage. It took a couple of seconds for word to pass from front to back that it was Clapton. Still, you couldn't really tell, and he didn't step forward. The first couple of bars of the solo, though, and everybody knew -- the crowd went WILD -- you can hear it in this recording, but it doesn't do it justice!
First off mind blowing tune/performance here! Second off Mick looked like he felt he was being pushed off to the side so the musicians could take care of things. Like they were thinking that singers are a dime a dozen but drummers & guitarists are what makes the engine go.
I've seen both Howlin' Wolf and Willie Dixon, the original composer, sing and play this song. Believe me, neither Eric Clapton or Mick Jagger (or the rest of the Stones) can match Wolf or Dixon for sheer raw feeling and power. Nothing like the original.
i think you guys are making something out of nothing. You bring EC on stage to play the blues,he is going to solo! Plus he has a great band backing him so y not take a long solo.
I saw that at either yankee or shea stadium in 1989 and mick didn't need to stop anyone, he sang "sympathy for the devil", "ruby tuesday", "miss you" and a bunch of others-with the help of the stones, so it was a treat to see eric come out and play little red rooster and then exit-just like that.
Trouble was they had Mick Taylor - genius in his own right and Clapton protege also from the John Mayall school of lead guitarists, but they did not recognise it! Was Keith jealous of his virtuosity- discuss? Just listen to Exile!
Clapton would of been a solid guy to come in after Brian but i dont think he would of survived th Keef lifestyle. It would of pushed him away over the edge!
Clapton didnt have a drug problem in the 90s h had drug problem in early 70s. Then he had alcohol problem till mid 80s, then he smoked like a chimney and now is off them all
just cant get enough of this.........

I don't think he's so much jealous as he is impressed. Looks to me that Jagger is essentially saying "Holy Cow!..Well done".
