Pretty Cool lesson here, Covers the topic quite well. Ive just made a bunch of detailed courses for beginners and advanced guitarists that you might be interested in. Check it out! would love to know what you and anyone watching this video thinks. Its totally free, and i mean TOTALLY
do you have any ideas for possible training exersises for getting used to changeing frets on multiple strings? cause i just cant seem to put em in the right place
instead of strumming the middle two strings, its much easier if you like bring them both together and then release them, gives a better sound and stops you plying the A string accidentally
wow, before I´ve seen this video, I´ve don´t understand, how to play this, but this video is the best. I don´t understand much in english, because I´m from Czech, but now I can play that melody,, what have played again and again in my head
thanks a lot Gord, right now my biggest problem is strumming the two strings, i always either accidentally strum the A as well, or only the G, but i'm sure in practice i'll get used to it
i'm a new beginner, and i find you to be the best instructor. i would very much like to continue to get all beginner lessons from you, how can i get them? thanks very much!!!

Thank you for teaching that song its a great song for beginners. I was wondering if you could help me with understanding guitar tab. e.g. what does "x" mean and a number in brackets and finally "h". Thanks in advance.
@johnnypotsmoker100 i can tell u that myself but not in 2 much detail the x your referrig 2 is the symbol for pinched harmonics which is a squeaing sound used in many rock songs by tapping the string wth the skin of your thumb right after the pick. The h is to hammer on a note or to tap your finger in front of the one prior. For example, say i put your finger on the 3rd fret, thinnest string n play a note, then while the note is still going i tap my middle finger on the fourth fret, same string.
ive mastered it!! went straight to the harder version! cracked it quite quickly, really chuffed, thanks so much Gord, will look more into your teaching as your teaching of smoke on the water came over very clearly to me, much appreciated. jason
i wud like to thankyou no matter what thease people say i really think your a good teacher i mean im just learning chords and cant really do em well but i got this 1st try
I've cracked the easy 1 strong bit. But my fingers seem to struggle with playing two strings as I can't get them into position to play the note clearly. Does this become easier with practise?
Yep it does get easier with practice ! Assuming you're a right handed guitarist - move your fingers towards the right of the fret - it's easier and requires slightly less pressure to get the note to work - hope this helps - Gord ...... let me know how you get on
Wish this guy was ACTUALLY my teacher. I teach myself guitar, no forking out money and I learn the songs I want but just as quickly.
Gord seems an amazingly good teacher though. This was the first riff I ever played on guitar and Gord taught it me. I'm forever grateful to this guy, thank you my man.
never been a guitar person, always wanted to, but never was, just got a guitar after 5 years of drumset, and thanks for the help, and this is also the first riff i learned from THIS vid
Read the rest for her to show up in your town. Im sorry this chain will spread and if you do not repaste 10 times onto 10 videos a ghost will come to your house and torture your family and you. Im sorry i dont want this happening to me repaste and the ghost will pass your house
ps. sorry so sorry if ppl get mad at me for posting this but im weakk , lol
DUDE! Thank you so much! So much better than the American 'beginner lessons'. You seem to be able to connect with me and what I'm doing so much better. Thanks to you I've gone from being able to play zilch to a Deep Purple classic! THANKS!!!
i got my first ever guitar yesterday and i don't know any notes and now i can play smoke on the water and this lesson was just what i needed. how much for tutoring? joke! fabbo!
Thanks for this lesson, most videos are confuseing to the beginner but this is very well explained by the teacher here in the video a big thankyou to you. cheers
At the start of the video I do mention that for a complete beginner it is easier to play the riff on one of the outside strings E(1) or E(6), then once they've gotten the hang of
this go on and play it on the middle 2 strings, all of which of shown on the video.
All my personal students have found this invaluable, as trying to pick middle strings while learning to fret notes in the other hand can be quite difficult for total beginners.
Thank you so much man! I can actually play this now.
