  • Does any of you Democrats play Chess for money?

  • As is typical of WH scandals throughout the years, it's not the actions that are being scrutinized so harshly, but the coverup of those activities. Gonzales (to Congress) and the Bush WH have been changing their stories this past week, and NONE of those stories quite match up with the e-mail evidence that has been released. Credibility is the real issue here, NOT the actual firing of the prosecuters [who serve at the president's discretion].

  • The Democrats and the media are treating this as if this is a crime. Since there is no crime there is nothing that needs credibility. This is a classic case of creating controversy where none exists. The Bush Administration, for what ever reason, is totally inept at communicating this.

  • Lying to Congress IS a crime.

  • No one has alleged anyone lied to Congress. Congress is just starting to investigate this now. They are investigating a non-crime. Much like the Plame case.

  • The VP office has been implicated in court testimony as outing a covert CIA agent,... which is an act of treason.

Gonzales told Congress one thing, and then gave a press conference which contradicted his earlier statements and the WH e-mails submitted to Congress. Now he is being called back before Congress to clarify himself. Misleading Congress is a crime. --How can you defend him anyway? He said Habeas Corpus isn't settled law! Separate subject, but clearly he's not capable to be AG.

  • What Congress is doing is lowering the bar on what is considered criminal. They are attempting to make republican politics criminal. There is a strong difference on lying to Congress and not communicating well. There's no lie and there is no crime here.

With regard to the Plame case I've got a video coming soon on that as well. There has never been any evidence that she was covert and in the hearings the other day Plame herself testified that she was not officially covert.

  • It's called "congressional oversight." That's what Congress USED to do before the Bush administration came in. [Remember Clinton's tenure] The Executive Branch cannot act with impunity. There are checks and balances.

The head of the CIA has said Plame was a covert agent, AND she just testified to it this week. She said, just like when a general comes back from overseas, he's still a general, I was still covert; I had been overseas during the last 5 yrs.

  • "congressional oversight" has nothing to do with trying to create a controversy over one non-story after another...on a daily basis...(as masterfully displayed here...)

  • This "NON-STORY" as you call it has already cost 8 US Attorneys and the Attorney General's chief of staff their jobs, AND NOW the incompetant Gonzales' head is on the chopping block. Pretend all you want that nothing wrong has been done, but most GOP leaders have already abandoned defending this crony of Bush.
