I was listening to this song last week while I was perusing reddit when I came across an old photo that was simply captioned: "My grandfather and his brother randomly meeting in WWII, neither knew if the other was alive." When i listen to this I imagine a tale: Cowboy lives with his past, and can't move on. He tries to drink and forget, but it doesn't work, so we can finally see something snap in him and see that fire in his eyes. He gets up and goes to seek his revenge, for all that he's loved. In a firefight he gets badly injured, but takes out all his foes. He shoots his biggest foe, and then falls for he's lost most of his blood. Smiling, died on the black sands stained with his blood, finally knowing peace.
