everybody likes the battlefield scene the most, but the whole shindig w/ Syd is my personal fav part: "What ya got there? Let me see, cmon." rah, sledgehammer!!!!
the only part of the film where theo uses violence towards another human being, and he looks devastated after doing so. brilliant acting, directing, subtleties...brilliant film.
It's like the film equivilent of litterature. Seriously.
It takes place in the year 2027. In 2009, everyone in the world mysteriously went infertile. EVERYONE. No person is capable of producing a child. NO ONE. That's all I'll say. This is a movie best enjoyed for the first time if you no nothing about it. In fact, I've probably said too much in this paragraph.
@macgeek2004 Yep, when recommending this movie to friends, it is best to not tell them anything about it... Just tell them they are better off not knowing what it's about at all.
I had no idea what the movie was about the first time I saw it, and it's one of the best movies I have ever seen.
And it's also one of those REALLY good movies that contain absolutely NO plot, background, or character exposition. You're just thrown into the world, and you (the viewer) have to figure things out for yourself. There is a reason for EVERYTHING YOU SEE, and no prop, no matter how miniscule, was maticulously placed by the director for a reason.
I'm guessing you've never seen it then? "Children of Men". Possibly one of the best films ever made. It's the kind of movie that takes place in the near future, not in an alternate reality, but a _plausible_ one -- a reality so plausible and complete that you believe it could *actually* happen.
That is one thing that I DIDN'T understand. It cost 80 million to make, yet no one promoted this movie.
Movies like Body of Lies, that most gayest, propaganda full movie gets the fullest advertisment for MONTHS before realese making it look awesome and shuving it in your face, yet turned out to be a failure (thank god, they don't deserve it.)
But CoM needed more... They should re-run it as of now once again in the cinemas, it would BREAK the box office!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Tipycall catastrophyc english movie, so many dirty thinks.Imigration theme is very important in England now, isn't??and , also islamic treath.Thats about in this movie, not about unfertility.

Seriously, this movie was criminally overlooked by so many people. I think this movie will be the type that isn't fully appreciated until much, much later after it has been released. It'll age very well.
Because it was a great ending, and only those who have not truly thought about the film and what it means could disagree with me. It is the people who look at the film as a source of entertainment that will disagree with me.
There's the idea of hope, a lot of people have said it's just Theo who dies at the end, and completely miss the point that this baby offers hope. Then there's also an open ended idea, are the human project really going to help. The idea of Theo representing a certain Bible Character. The suddenness of the end right after the death, giving the audience no time to really react to his death.
Noah, several scenes throughout the film we see Theo with animals and they all respond positively to him. Noah was sent to collect two of each animal, we see Theo walk past two chickens in the final scenes as he walks up the stairs to Kee. Also we see his final destination is in the water on boat. People also complain that it is never explained why we are infertile. there is no reason because as we see in one particular scene, when science can provide no answers, people turn to religion.
It makes sense. Most movies you see people getting kicked and punched in the face 100s of times, you can only really take 3 or 4. 1 if the other has a brick. I like how he was killed off that fast, goes to show that no one lives longer than anyone else.
Anyone else feel a wee bit sorry for him when he gets wacked in the face? Especially when he yelps.
