brchris69. You are welcome to have your own opinion of this album. But you don['t need to call everyone else "Bitches" for those of us FANS who appreciate a little diversity from the band. If you don't like them anymore then don['t comment. Why are you even listening to this if you can't stand it???
I completely disagree with some of one but see your points. My Hi-Fidelity Top 5 D2 albums are 1. Medazzaland 2. Astronaut 3. Duran Duran (1981) 4. Red Carpet Massacre 5. Rio
I think they should have released this one first. Then Box Full O Honey. As for consistency throughout this album, I will put it up against any album save Rio. And it's current! I can't get excited about Rio like I used to. I love their high energy, high art propulsion, which is why The Valley, Planet Earth, Big Bang Generation, Too Much Information and Strange Behavior remix of Drowning Man are faves. I want to like the track Astronaut but just somethin missin like from that whole album.
I had to fly to Gibraltar to get the new album.Thank god it was tax-free.I think this one in particular is a stand-out track. But don´t blame anyone;they had to do something without Andy or Warren, and although it might not be their most eponymous effort,I do think it´s very brave of them trying out something different and not pampering us with a reflex-copy.You can´t blame them for selling out, maybe just for experimenting a lot. After all,Live they are still a great band, aren´t they?
This song, RCM and Tempted are the only good songs on this piece of crap. AND BITCHES I HAVE BEEN WITH THEM THROUGH EVERYTHING. This album is the only one in 27 years I can say I dont like.
Not sure what's the definition of fan you're using, but so far I've read one or two additional comments supporting RCM after some thinking and analysis, that's what I was looking for. Thank you guys!
Well, by this time I've started to like the record, unfortunately looks like it'll be a commercial failure again. I've noticed an extremely lack of promotion in my country, a very high price for the record and no news about a venue in Mexico. That's sad.
unless ur deaf red carpet massacre is full of guitar in places, yes its more electronic than astronaut.but who complained about the first album being too much or not enough.get over ur hang ups and just listen its a fantastic album.
Good to know Duran fans take themselves sooooo seriously they can't laugh a little. Not me! I not growing old that way! VIVA THE ABILITY TO HAVE A LITTLE FUN!
Oh..right.. I can see now by my wording that perhaps I was giving out to Nick. Not at all. Nick knows his stuff for sure! It was just a sight to see John with a keyboard next to him after 20 years of him and his bass! Maybe John should bring back the 80s "keytar" but call it a "basstar". Half keyboard half bass! ;)
What next Roger on the kazoo or spoons? Hee hee. I like this song too, so glad for itunes because I can pick and choose what I like versus having to buy the whole kit and kaboodle. Can't wait til Tuesday!
ok, I listened to the available songs from the RCM album, I really think the songs ( the ones I've heard so far )sound like their early stuff ( 78 - 84 ),but the tech beats seem to be a little much and it killed a lot of john's bass lines. I love tech - house stuff, but now i'm not sure about Timbaland's works.
I really want to listen to these songs without all the added beats, just the classic NICK, JOHN, and ROGER parts. what do you people think ?
Are you serious? What are the good things in the album? I've not bought the CD yet but I've already heard a bootleg from the Hammersmith concert and it doesn't sounds so great (but audio is so so). I'm a fan but for 22 years I've also got used to see DD fail to evolve after success at least twice. I wonder if Andy was right with that electric evolution
have to agree, can't help but see similarities with this album and 1988's "Big Thing". Lack of the signiture guitars on many of the songs, and trying to target dance clubs throughout. Big Thing had some hits, mostly cause DD was coming off a hot streak. Unfortunately, the hot streak is over, and they should never forget their roots.
Agreed, RCM is As Good As Notorious And Big Thing. When I played it first time, sounds unfamilliar feeling, stranged. but after 2 or 3 times, I found it a VERY very Duran Duran Album. I really wished Warren Had stayed.
pretty cool song - nice melody in the verse. and a one-finger keyboard solo from simon - yay! the BVs work well too on this one. they're sounding really tight. good job! and cool beans!

It looks more like "triple-duty" there...I saw Simon go towards a synth board during the bass solo.
This is one of the few songs I like in this new album.

I think they have evolved; staying true to their signature sound, but have also kept up with the "times". I love them, always have, always will
