Recently got a Dano Milkshake Chorus pedal-- from this demo, it sounds like the cool cat version has more range of what it can do but otherwise is similar. It does what it does well, but my beef with these is they're not really chorus pedals-- they're vibrato. Chorus would mean there are duplicate signals that are slightly off in pitch and timing from the original. Neither this nor the milkshake do that-- they do vibrato; they take the original signal then waver it up and down.

Not noisy at all...compared to my analog MXR Flange( which is still very quiet) and my old Retro-Sonic Chorus...which is a duplicate of the Roland/Boss CE-1...it is way less noise. I've been wondering if this a digital pedal just because of that.
If you have ever heard Collective Soul 'Heavy' this is what is used to get that wobbly effect that the solo rhythm (Ross Childress!!) is doing...
Thanks for the video - helped me figure out what this thing is doing in his rig since he never uses actual chorus and is using this cuz of its quirky settings... cool.
Could you please demo this with heavy gainy amp distortion? (chorus in front of amp), with a slow rate setting? I am interested to hear what setting works best for high gain, thanks
This cool cat has some extras in its construction and first off all the sound, i dont like the fab chorus, the mini its ok, but this one sounds better, let your ears judge.
I don't agree with the knobs not getting hit comment. I got one of these chorus pedals and the concentric knobs were broken. I think it hit something, like the box it came in! The knobs just spun around on the shafts.
This was a seriously good review. You talked about everything. I learned a lot. Pro reviews don't often include personal opinions but I finally knew what I was getting. They never tell you the bad parts and I often think near every product is perfect. You can't just go on sound. I watched another video before those and he just went through a bunch of settings. So maybe it helped that I had already heard a bunch of the sounds.
I haven't been using the battery. I have a Dunlop Brick that powers everything I use, and does a good job...I don't have a complaint. I was once a battery purist, but I think economy and a small concern for battery acid in landfills converted me. I have to admit, I like the consistant sound I'm getting with the power supply. Tho, some pedals ( The Hao...) need a battery to sound 'right'.
Looks like it has that super bright blue led that some pedals have.
I had a Behringer digital delay with one and it was so bright you had to turn the pedal off to see the controls !

People say this is a great chorus. I really liked the Red Witch Empress Chorus, can anyone tell me how this compares?

@Mrr3nato I'd say a delay pedal suits that riff more.

i opened up a fab overdrive (the plastic version of coolcats) and it was definitely analog, and i don't see why this wouldnt be either.

true bypass switching and, for me, an upgrade in overall sound quality.

Are you sure it's digital?

nah, it's not digital.
If you look the PCB you can see it's analog.

I'm not sure about some of these effects such as the chorus, but the distortions are analog.

Thanks.
Great review. THUMBSUP.

I use my Cool cat Chorus on Metallica stuff, just set the speed and depth knob minimum. Pretty cool for a decent priced pedal.

just a comment, it's not digital, it's analog hehe.

Once again...it's the cleanest analog chorus I've ever heard. I'll take everyone's word on this as it is a nice chewy sound.

I recently bought the Danelectro Cool Cat Metal pedal. I might be buying this chorus pedal too, but does this take in a lot of battery power?

I've got that metal pedal also and boy does it suck down the batteries. I bought the 9v transformer for 9.99 and no more worries.

A great way to make a six-string guitar sound similar to a twelve is with these settings (looking at top of pedal):
EQ: Full clockwise
MIX: 12 o'clock
SPEED: 9:30-10 o'clock
Depth: Between 8 and 9 o'clock
CheckerTele 3 years ago
Haha. I love the sound with the mix all the way up.
