It doesn't require a god or the notion of "sin" to know that lying is wrong, any more than it takes the threat of hell or the reward of paradise to make someone a good person. Some of the most virtuous people we know of didn't believe in a god, and some of the most wicked, did, including many ministers. So your conflation of sin and sickness is simply false.

In the winter time, it varies. Sometimes we continue going downtown and talk to people who hang out. There are other things as well, go to flea markets and set up a table with tracts on it, etc. Normally it's slow in the winter.

dd0329-Those are gospel tracts that I have in my hand - they are called the "Millon Dollar Bill" tract. Also, I do get up on the fountain and open air preach to everyone as well - I just walk around and talk to people who are willing to talk. In all seriousness, my opinion is biased by nature because I don't believe that any religion is completely true. We're self-aware animals and because of that organized religion has developed to help people cope with and explain their surroundings. This is not to say we don't have a spiritual nature. We are part of the earth and our universe itself; not separate entities. If there is a "god" it would be the totatilaty of existance itself. It is natural to feel a spiritual connection to that.

I suppose I am particularly put off by christians who tend to focus so much on hell when it seems that a christian should want to live their life right by nature, rather than because of the fear of some eternal punishment on high. It's too bad your church tries to gain membership through fire and brimstone style speechs rather than focusing on peace and brotherly and sisterly love. But what do I know... I'm a heathen agnostic, right?

People misunderstand the meaning of love. Love is caring enough to warn someone when they are headed the wrong direction. Jesus spoke of hell more than anything else while he was here. Your thoughts are important to me.

This is in my home town and shows one of the reasons I am glad I don't live there anymore. It is simply amazing that these people actually think they are doing the world some good by telling others that if they don't happen to believe exactly as they and their particular church do they they will burn forever in hell. Yea organized religion! I'm very thankful I escaped that place with my reason intact and my intelligence still able to be applied to something useful for myself and humanity.
