Music, the great music of yesteryear when one could hear every word, orchestras played wonderful arrangements and a person could be transported from our mundane existence, music, the conduit of life, wonderful, sitting here in the mountains of Spain, a glass of beer and remembering my youth all those 60 odd years ago, Magic and thanks for posting. Beautiful song! Written in my birth year -- and I've been singing it all my life. So many people have recorded it... had no idea. Thanks, YouTube and all the wonderful people here.
During a chorus rehearsal (circa 1968), Robert Shaw said that if you want to hear perfect phrasing, listen to Jo Stafford. [Many have said the same thing about the early Frank Sinatra; he is linked on a sidebar - try both of them.]
Don't know what it is but I hear this beautiful song as she sings it and my heart just feels it will leave my body...... a beautiful arrangement. Thank you it is so beautiful I could cry. Just love the quality in her voice.
Incredible singing from the very best. Although I'm a long-time admirer of the late Ms Stafford, i've never heard her version of this song before. thank you for posting this .
This has to be the greatest love song ever written, interpreted by one of the world's greatest singers. "Such harmony is in immortal souls"

This and Frank Sinatra's version are just great...although Jo Satfford's voice gives me a feeling of nostalgia..always, in her every song.
