a good baritone, sings the school, and intuitive nature ... what about Pavarotti's technique does not explain anything ... like so you can ... my teacher would sing along with the student, guiding him with his sound and his own example, saying and showing how and what to do
Sad to say, we have all seen the syndrome you're referring to.
The solution is always is what the Zen Buddhists refer to as the "beginner's mind."
Even if one is in fact, highly knowledgeable, one must always be willing to shift into that open-minded state where one lets go of ego and pride, and listens without filters.
What uis that student doing? Pavarotti is not sitting there as a decoration, he should at least somehow have contact to Pavarotti. He is there to help him or not?
loose translation: the baritone sings by intuition...he does not have any vocal school but he is very good. pavarotti does not explain anth about voc technique, traverse notes, the covered voice etc. my teacher very often demonstrated the right voc position himself...making his students grasp his meaning of thr rigt voc position
@svjatazarov I don't think it was Pavarotti`s job to teach him technique, after all a masterclass is not the place to teach singers basic things about singing. It is the time to perfect what should already be there, point out some mistakes etc. And the problem with this guy was not technique but the total lack of interpretation.
The baritone is Brian Schexsnayder (I've probably misspelled his name), who sang at the Met for a few seasons in the 1980s. Pav is absolutely right about the orchestra in this aria, because papa Germont is singing over strings for the most part. (I am a baritone, and my voice teacher emphasized that orchestral fact while I was studying "Di provenza.")
Assuming a less-than-Met-sized theater and at least a medium-sized voice, Germont pere can concentrate on singing lyrically --
Molto facile a parole!!!
the name of aria is "Di provenza il mare il suol...." from Traviata. But in Italy they call this
aria,"Sto Pezzo De Cazzo".

I think Pavarotti's speaking voice at its worst is twice as musical as my singing voice at its best.
Forget Bieber's "singing", if you dare call it that in the presence of this video. This guy is the real deal singer.

voce bellissima!
Tempo e soldi perduti.

I agree with you. Before speaking be as musical as he was..
And i sopose that after working years and years with the best conductors and musitians of the globe you must learn something, no?
