  • Cool! Thank you very much! These kind of video's save me so much time. Much appreciated.

  • Easier way - select the regions and right click --> Convert To Sampler Track, then Logic automatically creates new MIDI track with the samples loaded in ESX24

  • Great stuff - I had no idea it was so simple! Thank you!

  • Wow this is a very useful video.I've been using FL Studio since 2002 and converted to Logic, thanks for the teachings...

  • does anyone know how to make that clap noise from wiz khalifas black and yellow or mac millers all i want is you ive looked everywhere and i cant figure out its like that repetitive clap noise any help would be appreciated

  • good info thanks!

  • do you know how to upload those slices into battery or ultrabeat?

  • Great vid bro! What are you using to capture the screen recording ?

  • You know, if you want to just automatically bung everything into an EXS instrument, you can just hit control E, or go to the audio popup menu from the arrange window, and it's called "Convert Regions to New Sampler Track". Very much like ReCycle did in the old days of EMU/Akai.

  • I am a beginner to Logic Pro I am very interested in this software because I see that it is powerful and ver user friendly. But the problem I am having is chopping up my samples.I just finished watching your video which was helpful.I want everybody to know that the US preset setting does allow you to use forward slash to chop samples. My problem now is I can drag the music into my logic pro but I can't hear it at all.I have never been able to hear nothing that I drag into logic.PLEASE HELP!

  • I have logic pro 7 & I am able to strip silence my loops, but haven't been able to get them into a folder as individual chops/slices, or load them into my EXS player. Is it possible to do this is Logic Pro 7?

  • awesome vid! we made a video just like this one! so weird!

  • i would say thank you for whatever you've taught. There will be days when u will feel unappreciated for whatever u do.On those occasions remind yourself that you've found a believer in me.NO HOMO

  • @StatuaryErmine Lol Thx man..

  • thanks man your a legend , you have just made like alot more simpler for me !! nuff respect g

  • Hey man. This is very informative. Thanks a lot for posting. Just getting into this instrument a bit more on my new stuff. U can hear on my myspace metadatabase profile.

    Anyway, like your style. Cheers

  • Wicked Dude! cool

  • Dude, I tried exactly what you said, but it doesn't work :( I have logic 9 does that matter? When the window pops open for the Strip Silence, it reads that there is only 1 region. Hmmm...any ideas?? Thanks, your tutorials rule!!!!!!!

  • Yeah whats the problem there?

  • Great tutorial but I got stuck too. After you strip silence you need to save all your regions as individual audio files. The best way to do this is to select all the new regions in your Bin and select "Save Region(s) As..." under the "Audio File" pull down menu. Once the regions are saved then you can pull them up in EXS24.

  • no u dont in logic express 9 i just drag all the strip silence samples into the edit part of exs and it asks if i want 2 save thats a faster way

  • I tried everything he said but when I finally loaded all the samples into the EXS24 nothing happened when I hit the keys

  • The right click function on the loop doesn't work for me, having trouble actually slicing the file.. any ideas?

  • try clicking once to select then right click

  • I wanna beat slice a track I've downloaded, however i've tried these instructions from this tutorial and it doesnt work. Could the song be protected material? HELP?! lol.. thanks.

  • theres just one thing, after i used the strip silence, the beat is sliced but the samples are not saved.howcome?

  • ur a fark beast!!!!! Nice tutorial.this is what i came on here to look for.

  • Very good. Thanks very much.

  • really nice, kudos!

  • very nice, thanks

  • ai ai ai file hmn aif file lmfao

  • in fl studio this can be done in 10 secs, a very underestimated program

  • damn you and your slicex......

  • much thanks

  • Man these are great tutorials. Your really talented buddy. Keep them coming.

  • Great tips - keep it up. I'm having trouble converting a random audio file, though. When I try to convert it, I get a message telling me I have to change the region length to an integer first. Any ideas?

  • thanks for the tips, only problem is the video is really grainy, and pixilated. is there a chance you could upload some videos where its easier to see the text ect?

    peace mr mig

  • You know, we don't need to see your face.

  • i have a m-audio trigger finger and this thing is cracking me out, imma see if this method will work when i get home.

  • awesome. thanks for the help.

  • yo i did everything and have thew chops but cant hear anything? wassup?

  • Thanks for the tutorials dude. Is there anyway you can manually select the regions you want to sample?

  • Love the tuts man. Thanks for takin your time to show others your knowledge

  • Thanks for the vid, it has been really helpful. But when i chop up vocal samples and trigger them with the keyboard, it ends up playing the whole sample even if i release it before it is done. How do i solve this problem?

  • Make sure to uncheck the "ONE SHOT" box for that particular smaple in the .exs editor.

  • Man, i am following this to the letter and I can not get the EXS to play my chops. Extremely frustrating

  • I can't chop up da audio tho!! like dat guy up dere say 'how do i get the seperate chops to cum up?'

    pls help!

  • thanks for the vid.

  • This is much easier using ReCycle. You save the wave file as a .RX2 file and import it into EXS24 using the: 'Extract midi region and create new instrument' option. That way you can use the original loop.. rearrange it.. or play something completely different..

  • Really?

You should post some videos showing your brilliance....

Otherwise you're probably just some pimple-faced kid in your grandma's basement....

See how easy it is to make statements that mean absolutely nothing!!!

  • Does anyone know how to have all the seperate chops come up in the ESX? When I follow the steps I only have the overall loop come up in the ESX, and I need all the chops.. Thanks Dudes!

  • now, im just assuming, but i think you might be copying his settings...so, i think you have to adjust the threshold to match your own audio file in the strip silence menu.

  • OK what you gotta do is highlight all the regions and convert them into aif files. So in the audio bin, highlight all the regions, go to audio file and save regions as. Aif, wav or whatever. Then they will come up in exs.

  • Nice video really helpful

    Thanks

  • Say Mr Mig, I'm working on trying to slice some beats, but i can seem to figure out how to highlight my loop one's is loaded into my screen, I think i got everything also goo exept this part..

  • it does not work at my Logic setup though.... :( The problem is the strip silence that does not do its job at my wave file (normal drum loop in aiff format)

  • do ya mean dat it won't chop up da audio file???

  • I just wanna say 'Thanks !'.

  • how can you only play the sample if you push a key? i mean that you don't play the hole sample but only when you play the key and when you release the key the sample must stop.

  • Open your exs sampler editor and uncheck "one shot" on that particular sample.

  • thanx man, i figured it out :)

    peace

  • great tips, but when i sliced my audio sample and imported it into the exs24 i didnt get any sound? what am i not doing?

  • Nice tip, it doesnt work for me, though. I keep getting one big region for the whole sample, not slices.

  • In the video I explain how to adjust the sensitivity, etc in order to create separate slices. If you dont then you will only have one audio file.

  • Hey again, havin same problem as otmansen, can it be mp3 that you slice or does it have to be aiff?,getting anoyed with myself cos you make it look so easy, please help lol, getting through all your tutorials, great stuff.cheers craig

  • Hi craig from England here, just got in from a gig and its just after 4am,was gonna go bed but you got me lookin at all your tutorials, very helpful, keep it up mate.

  • how and when did u slice that audio piece?before u hit STRIP SILENCE?and what does the strip silence function actually do?

    thank you ;)

  • Strip silence slices the audio.

  • Can you please do a tutorial how to sample audio, clean it up in the sample editor and then slice it. This is helpful but only for apple loops and I'm sampling off vinyl.

    Thanks!

  • This works the same for any audio. I turned the apple loop into an audio file first. Once you record off of vinyl the audio is the same.

  • I'm using recycle but it's non destructive and it's filling the sampler up with a lot of unusable regions. I guess I have to play with it more.

Thanks are you from Brooklyn? cause you looked kind of familiar?

  • Nah...Im in NJ.

  • Wow. I never thought of slicing loops up and importing them into the EXS. Really wicked tips. Thanks.

  • great post my dude...

  • A quicker way to get the samples into the exs editor is just simply drag them from the audio-bin into left upper pane. It will load them and create the zone for you!

  • thanx for that tutorial it was great

  • Thx mrmattic!

  • Good video. I never thought of using strip silence like that. Are you planing to do a video on how you do a remix?

  • Absolutely. I'm just gettin warmed up here.

  • Thanks for the great instructional video!! I never saw an easier explanation of beat slicing. Great.

  • Awesome thanks proff1999.
