@mondazan He's not a sweeper by any means. You definitely want him on point. He's fast and has those long combos to build meter like crazy. He can even build meter during luminous body, which can lead to some absurd gains.
Like I run Firebrand/GhostRider/Hawkeye. Firebrand can leave me with lvl 4 or 5 before he dies, and if I get there before he does I swap to ghost rider. Ghost rider dies, go back and charge batteries for X-Factor hawkeye. He's weak but it's all about team building.
@mondazan Fbrand has horrible damage output and weak health. the only two disadvantages he has since he's considered on of the fastest characters in the game.
I invented a Firebrand combo that I've not seen anyone else use yet which only uses heavy attacks and launch and only one meter so it's very handy for not getting damage scaling.
I think it only hits 540,000 but with only one meter, no luminous body no assists and no X-Factor.
Air H, c.H, S, Air H, QCB M, Air H, QCB M, Air H, H, S, Air H, Down+H, QCB L, c.H, S, Air H, QCF S, QCF Special (Dark Fire).
I can't make a video yet but you should try it. It's nice and simple.
i havent reallyu looked into any new UMK3 vides till today, gonan start firebrand on point and ammy 2nd n doom as ancor,, replace trish with FB. Byut i have a quest what does luminous even do???? speed dmg out ???
i can clearly see you have a better understanding of firebrand then me i need help on mission 9 its very weird it any advice maybe you could do a mission vid
@legendofmiles Mission 9 is easy. You just have to get the timing down for the assist, and then after you do the air grab (forgot the name of it, its qcf+s) you dash backwards so that the opponent will still be in the corner, and then proceed with the rest of the combo. Makes connecting with the fire super much easier. Hope that helps.
Fire brand Isn't a Heavy Hitter type. Hes a Meter Builder, which is essential to teams. Factor in his speed and air mobility with a few projectiles and you've good a decent character.
@HASJ what you have to realize is that "reset" characters are useless in a game with such easy one touch kills. doesn't matter how good him mobility or mix ups are. plus he doesn't get any meter at all
@rayray19wun I only gave my take on Firebrand's ability, never said he was viable.
Nitsuma's notion of balance is really twisted.
"Let's try make the game mix-up and reset heavy like MvC2, nerf the overall health of the characters, keep the one-hit kill combos and take the need of mix-ups and resets away".
I'd rather have Phoenix with 1 mil HP and Nemesis with 3mil and a half than keep the one-hit kill, even more so when some characters have a tough time doing them combos..
@Bigmac8r Not really when Luminous Body is essential to do more damaging combos and create more openings.
Don't forget his Level 3 helper, that, while gimmicky, is super efficient in confusing your opponent. I say he is one of the most balanced characters in the game.
But, as RayRay said, there are one-hit kill combos and if no one finds them for Firebrand, he won't be much used on the competitive scene.
@HASJ Im not sure how you got on luminous body but whatever.
Basically all Im saying is that FB's speed = mixup/reset potential = lots of hits = lots of meter. Making him, like you said, a mix/up reset character AND, like I said, a meter builder. He's both.
extended (and better) version of my 4 launch combo lol thanks for the video. =)

@Bigmac8r Why people keep getting him wrong?
The notion that he is a meter builder was from 3 months ago.
He's definitely a mix-up/reset character.
Anyone fast with lots of movement options that can only do 500k on a combo with hyper is a reset character.

Yes, and because of his ability to open people up with mix ups and resets he's also good for meter building.

That looks really really cool. I will not be playing Firebrand, so I'm happy it doesn't do any damage.
