When it comes to moping around, most new characters have no real reason to mop around (or we don't care that they do)
Everyone of the FF6 characters had a real legitimate reason to be depressed: They failed and the world was ruined. Even then, before Kefka blew up the world, pretty much every FF6 character was living their lives; yes they had some tragic backgrounds, but they didn't wear it on their sleeve. They all put on a strong front, and didn't do a whole lot of whining.
hmm ... i remember back in the day people used to argue if Daryl was a guy or a girl. That is definetly a diffrent looking character from what i remember on the SNES .... looks way more like a woman
Notice how these characters don't mope around or be emo about how tragic their lives are. They rise above it and move on. Something modern jrpgs don't do. Squall was emo, so was cloud, and Tidus, annoying too.
Actually, they do mope around, almost everyone one of them. The difference between them and Cloud/Squall is they do indeed rise the occasion and conquer their tragedies. Celes tried to kill herself when Cid died (if you did that), Terra refused to fight, Setzer denied helping the gang out at first, Shadow regrets his past, Strago joined a Kefka cult, Locke obsessed over Rachel, Cyan couldn't let go of the past either. Each of them overcame their troubles and were better for it.
Heh, Setzer always seemed like such a prick; selfish, egocentric and a cocky player. It wasn't until I saw this scene that i really warmed up to him. Setzer became my favourite character soon after.
This scene was awesome. When the falcon first takes off is an epic moment. Its where you take the world of ruin by the reins. Its the turning of the tide. Not long after you get the falcon, you quickly get many party members. I notice though that the falcon was said to crash in a distant valley from distant island in the original translation. Probably to kill off the Gogo = Daryl rumors.
3:16 makes me more excited than any moment in a modern Final Fantasy game.

The GBA doesn't have the same sound capabilities as a TV console. This is a great song, but the SNES version is SO much better.

That "Hill" where Setzer was suppose to wait for Daryl.... looks awfully similar to the hill Celes try jumping off from, minus a trail to the top.

I think that Setzer is probably one of my top favoirte characters in any FF6 game.
Cecil from FFIV was my top favorite.
