i do a clutchless shift all the time, i do more clutchless downshifting than i do upshifting. its all about matching engine and tranny speeds. plus i throw it in neutral when i stop instead of holding down the clutch cause i live in town. saves on wear and tear on the clutch

It was pulling just over 8,000 pounds, had to shift from 5th to 3rd going up hills with it floored.

5th is a 0.72 overdrive gear. What do you expect? Overdrive isn't meant to be a pulling gear, you shouldn't even be towing in it.

well it was a old worn out semi but it was still funny i think if i remeber right it was the splitter box shift that was grinding the trans shifted fine it was the splitter box

Yeah. Lol. My 66 will cruise at 125. The 78 will push 75 but 65-8 is a good cruising speed. The 90 will do about 85, so will the 91, the 90 even being an automatic gets there a lot faster though if you have weight in the back. My mazda protege 4 banger will do 120 but has the accelaration of a fat kid on a bicycle.

Yeah. Not a bad car though. At least ford owned part of mazda when it was made so I can claim partial ford. I'm starting to want an IDI now to add to my collection I'm gonna have to go find one. I know where I could get one fairly cheap that's exactly like yours use to be with a flat bed, but its an auto : (. Diesel auto's are worthless as work trucks. At least the new ones have locking torque converters.
