I normally don't support the Mexican Government, but I think they did a great job to cope the outbreak. But as you say the mainstream media blow it up and thanks to that no one wants to come to Mexico. Since May 6 the city of 20 million inhabitants is back to its normal course of life, like if nothing ever happen. Encourage people to travel to Mexico.

I think you should worry about Mexico City's crime rate, it's more probable that you could get yourself kidnapped, than get the swine flu, specially in the polanco area. I live in Monterrey and I have three friends who were robbed and or kidnapped in the Polanco area by taxi drivers who were in cohoots with the bad guys. By the way I agree that this swine flu has been blown out of proportion by the government and the media, those masks will do no good, the virus gets thru any fiber.

A possibility is, George, that what you don't understand is 'pandemics'. If the incubation period of AH1N1 is three days, then you have two left. After that, it's 7 to 25 days. You now need to wear a mask at all times and take care that, in the event that you might be infected, you don't pass it on to any one else. If you show no symptoms after about 28 days, you probably missed becoming infected. Peace.

Well, the way I see it, the reason that businesses have been told to close down and have people stay home is so that it will NOT turn into a horrible pandemic where it goes beyond "only" 200 or so people. With that many people it's a breeding growd for a potential horrible outbreak and to avoid that they ask for people to stay home and businesses to close (so nowhere for the people to go). It only means that it's wide spread and people have learned now that to clamp down on it early you'll have less sick and dead people. These flus can be SOBs and I speak through experience. I think you should worry about Mexico City's crime rate, it's more probable that you could get yourself kidnapped, than get the swine flu, specially in the polanco area. I live in Monterrey and I have three friends who were robbed and or kidnapped in the Polanco area by taxi drivers who were in cohoots with the bad guys. A possibility is, George, that what you don't understand is 'pandemics'. If the incubation period of AH1N1 is three days, then you have two left. After that, it's 7 to 25 days. You now need to wear a mask at all times and take care that, in the event that you might be infected, you don't pass it on to any one else. If you show no symptoms after about 28 days, you probably missed becoming infected. Peace.

Well, the way I see it, the reason that businesses have been told to close down and have people stay home is so that it will NOT turn into a horrible pandemic where it goes beyond "only" 200 or so people. With that many people it's a breeding growd for a potential horrible outbreak and to avoid that they ask for people to stay home and businesses to close (so nowhere for the people to go). It looks like it succesful and it looks like ti's working. No crazy conspiracy "test" going on here.

It only means that it's wide spread and people have learned now that to clamp down on it early you'll have less sick and dead people. These flus can be SOBs and I speak through experience. I'm not really surprised. As for Mexico itself, the state is in a massive drug war, and is using the swine flu as an excuse to exert even greater control over people. By the way, Mexico City has a population of 8M, about the size of New York City.
