The National Chicken Council are the lobbyist who bribe politicians. The new technology has done nothing more than guaranteed more long term debt and astronomical utility costs...with the windowless houses you are 45 minutes away from a disaster 24/7.
i wouldn't say that the conditions they're grown in have gotten better over the past 30 yrs. their conditions benefit her, not the chicken. she's taken away their natural needs to nest, roost, etc.
litter conditions are great, they have feed, they dont have to look for bugs, they have clean water, they dont have to drink out of a mudpuddle. they have heat, they dont have to huddle together to stay warm, they do not have to worry about predatory animals that will eat them, as they are protected in the barn, they have fresh air with fans that kick on to bring fresh air in the barns. the barns stay cool in the summer with the tunnel systems, i would say the growing conditions are great.
"I have from an early age abjured the use of meat, and the time will come when men such as I will look upon the murder of animals as they now look upon the murder of men." Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519)
Poor birds... never see the sunlight or get to dustbathe or hunt for treasures in the grass. To live in a metal building for the total of their (45 day) lives. Then to have those beautiful white feathers drenched in their own blood. (ick)... No thanks --- Living a great vegan life. Lots of health -- No cruelty -- No regrets! :)

Can't believe that they think this is better - just shows the disconnect of the meat industry. They believe their own propoganda.
