this is so far the only tolerable thing on the new album in my opinion... i still prefer their first three album VASTLY. do yourself a favor, go listen to Red Light In MY Eyes part 1
@ajhartmeta i feel for you... but remember that different gererations like different genres of music...there is nothing wrong with metal... it's a like it or leave it choice and it's not for everyone... just to make you see how broad my musical tastes are, i am going to the Metropolitan opera, in NYC on March 2nd to see Madam Butterfly with the great Placido Domingo, and the next nite i'm off to see COB,, again... with eluveitie... i'll be headbanging at the opera, too !!!!
Rofl I can totally connect with that. I have been privileged with only 3 concerts in my lifetime. The First one was a Sarah Brightman concert which was stunning and everything I could have ever wanted it to be. The second one was an Iron Maiden and Dream Theater concert which is my favorite one by a longshot (dear God it was awesome). The third one was a Buckethead concert which was unimaginably epic. I EVEN GOT A TOY!!! :D
It took time... a long time to get used to this kind of CoB. Now, I can honestly say that even with their change, this is just TOO FUCKING COOL, like the rest of the songs on this album!
I never have hated Bodom...I started liking them because of the keyboards and I think from 1997-2011, the keyboard parts and solos have NEVER sucked!!! :D \m/
Oh hi there Children of Bodom. Nice to see you back. Where were you these 7+ years? Oh I see, trying to suck up to the pop fans. Oh, I forgive you. Good comeback. Recognized your music the first I heard it from the radio. Who'd known? A band going back to it's roots! Thanks. Now you sound like CoB!
When I First Heard Children of Bodom I was 8 now i'm 19 and still strong, this band is my legend and my favorite too, and Alexi Laiho still being the best finland guitarrist of all times, from the beginning in Inearthed and Something Wild to Relentless Reckless Forever, COB still rocking dude We hope that this energy endure until the death comes for me... LONG LIFE TO CHILDREN OF BODOM!
When I first heard Children of Bodom I was 47, now I'm 55, and I still listen to them, and go to every concert I can...I think these boys are some of the hardest working musicians out there, and they serve as inspiration for me as a working visual artist: moral being, you are never too young or old to like COB!
@pthalocyaninine It just shows you have good taste in music. How could you not like COB? They're incredibly inspirational. I mean, come on, it's not everyday you find a guy who can make a guitar....speak! like Alexi Laiho can.
Hey, thanks so much: what people never seem to understand is that my generation started out with Black Sabbath and Tony Iommi, and are so willing to embrace all the next gen here: we're not geezers: and in Seattle, there are a lot of older people at the COB shows.
COB are probably the ONLY band whose albums range from nearly all genres of metal...be it Atmospheric Black Metal, Neoclassical, Groove, Melodeath to even maybe Extreme Pop-metal (just kidding :P)...now it would be gr8 to see them do some thing like Melodic Technical Death Metal with some odd time-signatures to complex riffs laced with tasteful lead playing by Janne and Alexi AND ROOPE AAAAAANDDDD HENKKKA!! That would be the most ultimaate album ever!! :D
Stop associating the name Children of Bodom with a musical style. CoB is just the name of a band, it's their albums which define a specific musical style.
That being said, I like all of Children of Bodom, but their stage that inspired me the most and could drive me really crazy, was HCDR.
It's funny. The first time I hear a Bodom song I hate it, but the more I listen to it, the more I like it. They used to be my most hated band, but now they are my favorite band.
The old COB albums I was able to lisen start to finish, but some of the newer tracks I am not quite as stoked about. They were experimenting with different things which is sweet, because it allows the band to progress and become better. This song takes some of their old style and mixes it with the stuff they have learned to make one fucking kick ass song!
WOW I TALKED SO MUCH BULLSHIT ABOUT THIS ALBUM AND IM SUCKING A BIG LARGE COCK,I CAN NEVER EXPECT TO HEAR THE OLD CHILDREN,BUT ALEXI IS A SUPERGODMOTHERFUCKER
@CobGeorge im right there with you...ell m 13...i thank my canadian friend to "converting" me to meloic dethmetal.....hip hop one of musics greatest downfalls..right?
@CobGeorge Haha same here... I started listening to them because I watched a WoW video with downfall. I was 14. I am 20 now, dont really like CoBs new stuff though.
To expect a band - after 10 years of musical, cultural, and financial development - to sound exactly the same as they did when they released their first album, is madness.
In a parallel universe somewhere, where children of bodom still did sound the same after about 8 albums, you would be criticizing them for not developing and growing, as all musicians do.
Roundtrip to hell and back and Not my Funeral are masterpices
There first two albums were good but they cant stand against Hate Crew Deathroll Follow the Reaper and Relentless Reckless Forever because this band got many experience in there carriere and that you can realy listen out
i know that cob used to be the best in melo-death metal.
but now, it's not melo-death, not even regular death, dunno if it's better than deathcore or metalcore, and most of all, it's not CHILDREN OF BODOM-METAL anymore

@infizus i know that this is still melodic death metal.

what i mean is when you heard some song, u should be able to guess what band is playing, or close guess

@bonac123 This change of bands can be seen everywhere. look at In Flames. Sounds of a playground fading is modern metal/metalcore for me, nothing melodic DEATH metal at all anymore. U wont find anything from old, classic and real in flames in this album, still its the same band (well nearly, jesper left).
COB has always been more commercial then other melodeath bands like at the gates or dark tranquillity, but what do you else expect? They have never claimed to be un-commercial. So they change.
maybe it's justme that expect too much in this band. i was hoping that this band would be something like iron maiden, metallica thing that they r representing something they want to represent of. i listen to all of their albums and those album r almost the same thing (though the different, progress is notice, it's still close to their previous albums). so i expect cob to be at the same way. but when it didn't, it give me a huge disappointment in the band
@shreddintheaxe oh dont get me wrong, i love the follow the reaper too. the first three albums are my favorite ones but at the end of the day, bodom could make a disco album and still be badass
@SkuyaHamilton You've obviously never heard Hatebreeder or Something Wild. This album is good, as are HCDR and FTR (I personally think AYDY & Blooddrunk are complete garbage) but IMO nothing will surpass those first two albums. This one is a step in the right direction though.
@SkuyaHamilton Being a hipster? Sorry, but out of all the songs on AYDY, I only really can stand Living Dead Beat and We're Not Gonna Fall. Everything else is just not up to par with some of their other material. Going back to Hatebreeder... that is pretty much the epitome of a perfect Melo-Death album. The awesome keyboard work (which AYDY barely has aside from the solos), the neoclassical influence, the awesome songwriting craft, it's all just so well done. AYDY just pales in comparison IMO.
Ah, COB as it use to be. I haven't much liked the last couple albums, but this is as spectacular as anything off hatebreeder or any of their earlier albums. Alexi is still god
Children of Bodom is a Finnish heavy metal band from Espoo. Formed in 1993, the group currently consists of Alexi Laiho (vocals, lead guitar), Roope Latvala (rhythm guitar), Janne Wirman (keyboards), Henkka Seppälä (bass), and Jaska Raatikainen (drums). In total they have released seven studio albums, two live albums, two EPs, and one DVD. The band's third studio album, Follow the Reaper, was their first album to receive a Gold certification in Finland.
You know, I'm more of the classic Bodom fan, but I actually quite like this song. From what i've heard of the new album, its not half bad. Definitely not another follow the reaper, but its better then blooddrunk. This is the best song on the new album for sure.
So fucking happy that i bought this album. and this is one of the best songs on the album. and it sounds so awesome when Alexi sings "back" in the sentence "roundtrip to hell and back"XD COB Forever!!!!!!!!!
I still remember when i bumped into COB accidentally... i was only starting to listen to metal.... guess what was my first music of this band? If You Want Peace, Prepare For War... it fucked my mind...and hey...guess what? COB never let me down a single time...i love every single one of their music...Guys...let me suggest an epic intro of cob...and the epic intro leads to an epic song...In The Shadows.... listen to it...it's not commercial...one of their first ^^ not like are u dead yet -.-
this is so far the only tolerable thing on the new album in my opinion... i still prefer their first three album VASTLY. do yourself a favor, go listen to Red Light In MY Eyes part 1

You know, I'm more of the classic Bodom fan, but I actually quite like this song. From what i've heard of the new album, its not half bad. Definitely not another follow the reaper, but its better then blooddrunk. This is the best song on the new album for sure.
