  • Schrödinger's Wine

  • just drink form the the bottle that simple

  • I love how he says "ill tell you in a minute"

  • Another clever idea...

Neither one is poisioned... Wesley fakes his death and the first chance he gets... ZAP!

"Fool the mind, and the battle is yours"

  • IoCAIN cocain. Or however u spell.

  • 3 people went against a Sicilian when death was on the line.

  • "So, you could have put the poison in your own goblet, trusting on your strength to save you." Vizzinni actually figured it out. He is a genius. Well, a dead genius.

  • 3 people are morons.

  • I just saw an episode of "American Dad" that did a spoof on this scene, but I cannot find anything on the internet that mentions that. Does anyone know where I can find that?

  • I freaking love Vizzini, who else would set a table in the middle of desolate nowhere? xD

  • A dizzying intellect indeed.

  • "Wait till I get going! Where was I?" lol

    "You're just stalling now."

"You'd like to think that, wouldn't you?" (I always like saying, "You'd like to think that, wouldn't you?")

  • Nostalgia Critic brought me here.

  • ahahahaha hahaha ha haha ha... (THUD)

  • look at buttercup's hair at 1:35 and then at 1:45.

    ...did you spot it?

  • @empirestatebuilding1 haha i have never noticed that before

  • @empirestatebuilding1 good catch,.. damn I do usually catch things like that.

  • a smart man would pretend to drink it. :|

  • @kollin1996 "a smart man would pretend to drink it"....well said, kollin!

  • @kollin1996 he's not a cheat though, he has honour about him

  • My favorite lines:

"Have you ever heard of Plato, Aristotle, Socrates?

    "Yes."

    "Morons."

  • @Caleb6543 Aristotle really was a moron compared to the other 2, he was wrong about so many things.

  • @Greg321m it is ideas that make great minds. The results only help make other ideas.

  • @Greg321m You know how I know you don't understand Aristotle?

  • @remkade you know how I know you are a arrogant and pedantic philosophy major?

  • Anyone else thought of Sherlock after seeing this?

  • @BlackenedAlice Anyone else think of this when watching sherlock?

  • His expression at 4:02: "Wait for it. Waaaiiiiit fooorrrrr iiiiitttt"

  • AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH eh.

  • Best part of the entire movie.

  • 0:10 made me lol

  • Wallace Shawn is CLEARLY the superior actor here....very good and funny guy

  • pft

  • Gossip Girl. He looks the same lol

  • 2 people went in against a Sicilian when death was on the line and lost.

  • "I'll tell you in a minute" :)

  • The funniest scene in the whole movie...

  • Comment removed

  • i like the man in black but i dont like westley

  • "Truly you have a dizzying intellect. . ."

  • You know the funny thing? Vizzini was right the entire time. He couldn't choose the wine in front of him, or the wine in front of the man in black.

  • @Khajmer It's also funny, becuase when he said Westely trusted his own strength to save him, that was right too.

  • haeyour own battle of wits with a friend or more! instead of poison, use chocolate exlax in chocolate milk or hot chocolate. have fun.

  • best movie ever. Thanks for the post

  • gotta love mafia <3

  • I met vizzini tonight! he just walked into the restaurant where I was having dinner...very soft-spoken guy. I kinda got the feeling he didn't want to be bothered or maybe just felt a bit awkward at being recognized. good guy though, signed an autograph for my girlfriend and took a picture. love this movie!!!

  • NEVER GO IN AGAINST A SICILIAN WHEN DEATH IS ON THE LINE! HAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHA! HAHA- *fall*

  • I love how after that Humperdink SMELLS the powder.

  • @thesinger877 I always thought that moment was funny too XD

  • This is soo funny!! I love this film! (: x

  • Are people actually debating whether or not to fight a land war in Asia in the comments?

  • @landlubberification I believe so! Almost as funny as the comment itself!!!

  • metagame eh?

  • INCONCIEVABLE

  • Ahh it cuts off before the best part.

  • 1 person must have gotten into a land war with Asia.

  • @GinXYZ Yeah, that person is called Uncle Sam. Did you even know what the U.S. was doing, and partly is doing, in Iran and Iraq?

  • @GinXYZ And the other went in against a sicilian when death was on the line.

  • @lastEvergreen lol...good one

  • What's ridiculous about this is: Wesley told the guy "Inhale this but do not touch." The first thing the guy does is touch it and then he inhales it. Ridiculous moron!

  • @JoedDominique He touches the case around the powder, not the actually powder... Though I understand what you mean. Wesley won the battle of wits from the beginning.

  • @tawnyclawx Um...are you an idiot or just trolling? Here, let me make things clear for you.

    1. The United States' involvement in Iran and Iraq does not constitute a 'land with Asia'.

    2. My comment was a comedic comparison between Vezzini's statement and the 1 dislike for this video. Guess that went over your head.

    3. Yes, I know exactly what the U.S. has been up to in the Middle East. That's why I've been a protester against us being there since day one. Now STFU.

  • @GinXYZ Kinda did go over my head, since now there are two dislikes...

And, okay, forget my comment about Iran and Iraq. Think about us in places like Vietnam, Korea. Those were wars, and they were definitely in Asia. During the beginning of the Korean War, they kicked our butts all the way down to the most southern edge of the peninsula before we stabilized the territory.

  • @tawnyclawx And? Individual wars with individual countries does not constitute getting into a land war with a continent the size of Asia. The outcome of those wars had nothing to do with land mass. It seems this is a joke that you don't get, so I'll explain it: 'Never get in a land war with Asia' is advice given because trying to take over a continent the size of Asia would be so costly that only a pyrrhic victory would be the result. That's why when someone is attempting that...

  • @GinXYZ Actually you didn't get it. It's a land war 'in Asia' rather than 'with Asia'. Hope this clears things up for you.

  • @Ismailikov Actually, I DID get it, i.e., the joke and why it's a joke.

  • @Ismailikov It's okay. That's a classic blunder, too.

  • @tawnyclawx ...which is seemingly impossible or too costly, another person may offer the advice 'Never get in a land with Asia'. Get it now?

  • @tawnyclawx 'Never get in a land war with Asia'. I should say. Damn typos.

  • @GinXYZ I get it, but I'm too obstinate to care ^^ seeya later.

  • @tawnyclawx That's usually a problem with people who hate to be shown where they're wrong. Maybe one day, after you're all grown up, you won't feel that way anymore. Ciao.

  • I hate Zorrows fake acsent

  • The person who disliked should drink aswell.

  • @blackwingangel04 Actually they were both poisoned, but Wesley has worked up an immunity over the years by taking small amounts at a time, and it didn't affect him.

  • This is a great clip.

Only disappointed by the amount of people who don't know how to spell Sicilian.

  • he poisened both but Wesley had grown amune to it

  • wow,... when vizinni was stalling he actually figured it out. then, he tried to use trickery and he lost.

  • @9californication Actually, both were poisoned. He just didn't actually take a drink, but made it look as if he had. The "genius" was dumb enough to actually take a drink.

  • @blackwingangel04 yes, i understand that. when vizinni was arguing about the drinks he indicated the reasons why either cup would be poisoned... in that way he actually figured out that both cups should be poisoned... but then he started over thinking and decided to resort to trickery also, both drank their cups but wesley was immune

  • I would pay a thousand bucks to be able to laugh like that...

  • Its easy...westley just poisoned both cups, and pretended to drink it.Or westley mighteve not poisoned any glass at all, but when vizzini smelt that "thing" at 0:40 it would have made it poisoned... Never argue with a cecilean, my foot!

  • @jbreman 1st) Westley poisoned both goblets, but he did drink it. He was immune to iocane (spelling?).

2nd) It's Sicilian, like from Sicily, Italy. I am offended :(

  • Look, a distraction!

  • Ha haa haaa He never put it in the glass. The guy inhale it in first. One last laugh Haa Haa. Whiskers 2:03AM 12/18/2011

  • @universetechnique You really should watch the next part.

  • AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA..........thump

    never gets old :)

  • You know what I never understood? Why Vizzini didn't throw his wine over his shoulder and quickly refill it when Westley wasn't looking. But, alas, oh well.

  • i thought he said that both were poised but he used some kind of body antidote

  • @HoaCash305 incorrect, my good man. He has been dosing himself with it slowly. Like venom from certain spiders and snakes. you slowly build up an immunity to them

  • Great remember I was here.Thai 4:31AM 12/17/2011

  • no the "cilicillain" sniffed the poision so thats what truly killed him. the masked man just wanted to show off for the girl.

  • @hoffleandme goodness. just watch the next part.

  • You must have learned on failblog that man is retarded, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me!

  • This is one of the funniest deaths ever!

  • lol

  • the other day in my class we were talking about Sisilia and me, being the nerd I am, whispered "never go in against a Sisilian, when death is on the line!" and the girl beside me looked at me for a moment, then giggled.... she obviously doesn't know this movie

  • Ah, my beloved childhood, broken in to tiny snippets that I may enjoy at my leisure. Now to go watch the full movie while reading the book.

  • So, Iocaine powder is actually chopping up Felix the Cat the Movie into a fine powder?

  • A real wise guy would pull out his sword and kill the retard before he reacts.

  • i love the way he says "the thing you do not smell" XD <3

  • Never go against a Cecilian when DEATH is on the line!

    Reminds me of Cecilian pizza...mmm..

  • @Poet2916 *Sicilian

  • Really bad things happen to that actor whenever he laughs in movies!

  • Yes, NEVER get in a land war in Asia.

  • You know, if he was just stalling, why switch the wines?

  • @DragonTycoon notice he drank after the mysterious masked man? It was his 'out' to see if his opponent felt comfortable drinking from that glass or not. If you know drinking from a glass will kill you, you tend to hesitate. Therefore if masked man was ok drinking what he thought was the glass in front of him, then that was the 'safe' glass. If he's nervous, then you know you have the poison and should run or something.

  • @ThirdParadox i do not know if you have seen the movie, but he goes on to say he has been building up an immunity to the iocane powder. he poisoned both glasses. He is a smart man.

  • @DefaultsDarkSide Oh, I know what was actually going on, I have seen the movie, I was merely noting the probable thought process involved in switching the glasses.

  • This guy is a huge tool

  • He learned that man is mortal in studying.

  • Both glasses were poisoned. The man in black spent the last few years of his life building up an immunity to iocane powder.

  • At 0:46 he should have given him a vile of clhoroform, guy sniffs and losses the battle of wits

  • Other stupid things Vizzini does.

    1. Puts away the knife.

    2. Inhales from the iocane powder when Wesley tells him to.

  • Oh Vizzini. You let your guard down. That is just...inconceivable.

  • Witty plus an awesome mask ... No wonder Todd in the Shadows was perfect to play Westley in Suburban Knights.

  • Imagine how this scene would have went if he put the wine side by side.

  • i don't get it... why switch glasses?

  • @skyamethyst23

its because vizzini wanted to see if the masked guy was willing to drink the glass in front of himself. if he was, that meant vizzini could safely drink the one in front of him, because he had switched the glasses. and yet he was still wrong ha

  • @giladthecohen

    Truly a dizzing intellect.

  • Vizzini learned the dangers of WIFOMing a little too late.

  • I still like him better when he was playing the Ferengi

  • Wait til I get going...where was I?

  • @Deejiethefact Australia

  • When he calls Plato, Socrates, and Aristotle morons that always gets me. Haha.

  • @Stevenio

And its not just his opinion.. he says it just matter of fact... morons hehe.

  • @augment96 I replied to the wrong person.

  • Buttercup is just awkwardly sitting there.

  • a clever man would have noticed he held the poison in the same hand he held his opponent's goblet. meaning he could only have put it in his own without spilling it or making obvious movements.

  • inconceivable!

  • A clever man would have just thrown out the wine once the guy's back was turned.

  • Comment removed

  • I am talking about Vizzini. Once he told Wesley to look over there, he could have just poured the wine out and then pretended to drink it.

  • inconcievable.

  • Inconceivable!

  • Stab him the moment Vizzini put away the knife.

  • 1:12 Gulp

  • lol it's true, land wars in Asia have always been problematic for the West, even today.

  • It IS possible to build up an immunity to some toxins. Ask any married man who's wife can't cook.

  • a fool and his logic... lol!

  • @SKAuthenticDank You clearly aren't knowledgeable on Florinese medical practices. What's next? There's no such thing as half-dead?

  • You'd think his biggest blunder would be sniffing the poison in the first place. Imagine if the powder worked by inhalation.

  • One of the best scenes of that Decade. Possibly in Fairytale movie History.

  • The funny thing is, his logic was right. He couldn't pick his own glass OR the other man's glass. His only blunder was thinking he only put it in ONE of the glasses.

  • I think he switched the glasses, not realizing that the man in black would poison both cups, because he thought that only his was poisoned. Therefore, he switched the cups. Although, Westley was smarter than Vizzini, so he poisoned both cups, just in case Vizzini tried to trick him. So he outthought Vizzini, as stated by Inigo later in the movie.

  • why does he switch the cups?

  • @Rebawesomist He does it because he believes Westley will give away some information, since Westley knows which cup the poison is in. If Westley looks confident, it's because he thinks Vizzini chose wrong (not realizing the cups are switched), and he can drink, confident that Westley now has the poisoned drink. And if Westley looks worried, Vizzini will know that he chose the wrong cup and won't drink it. Except that he didn't know Westley had poisoned both drinks.

  • @Dreamline78 ohh now i see, i had to think deeper. thanks for the explanation

  • I love this scene, amazing. Easily one of my favorite scenes in Princess Bride. Such a great movie :P

  • I would've taken the bottle

  • best illogical game of wits ever.

  • Holy crap, is this the same actor who played Grand Negus Zek?

  • Inconcievable

  • He inhaled the poison at the beginning of the battle, and neither wine glass was poisoned

  • @poopinlard no.....just watch the movie.

  • @poopinlard He had actually poisoned them both. The hero was immune to the poison.

  • You have chosen....poorly.

  • @blownuper Indiana Jones would have chosen.....wisely.

  • @blownuper Lmao.

  • You should have chosen the wine bottle.
