The funny thing is, his logic was right. He couldn't pick his own glass OR the other man's glass. His only blunder was thinking he only put it in ONE of the glasses.

Although, Westley was smarter than Vizzini, so he poisoned both cups, just in case Vizzini tried to trick him. So he outthought Vizzini, as stated by Inigo later in the movie.

And if Westley looks worried, Vizzini will know that he chose the wrong cup and won't drink it. Except that he didn't know Westley had poisoned both drinks.
