The Onil stove is changing and protecting lives all over Guatemala, and helping curb deforestation at the same time. It's a God-send to the indigenous in Guatemala and God bless the people at Helps International!
Their homes are very dark. They should adapt the 1.5 pet bottle "solar bulbs"(filled with water and a bit of sodium hypochlorite(Clorox-to prevent algae growth) installed half-in and half-out of the roof). Works like a 50 watt-bulb.
@tutulick : You're right about using the Solar Bottle Bulb, promoted by Liter of Light in the Phillipines. I can't wait to try these here in Guatemala. Thanks for the reminder!
you can do a biogas digestor like the one in this video
youtube.com/watch?v=j8feQVxvuBM&feature=related
everyone has digestion and they can have all the waste go into the biodigestor and use methane to cook and heat even to produce electricity. it can be a community project and everyone that contributes can benefit, no more deforestation and no more CO2 problems you can do it!!! it is inexpencive to do and maintenance free!
