During the breaking in process (second tank) after approximately a minute of running, the engine would rev high but the car would not move and smoke started to come out from the clutch so i turned the engine off straight away. When i checked the clutch it was burning hot and some of the spur gear tooth have melted on both gears. is this bad? please reply really.

@20kyel do not rev engine during breaking, you might got it over heated so clutch burned and melted spur gear too.

@GoEflight drop a drop of spit on engine heat sink, if it sizzles away quick, you are too lean and heating up. if it takes time temp is ok

@NitroFueledViolence You might want to take your engine apart and seal the backplate and around the carb with some high temp, sensor safe RTV. This is a good idea with any nitro engine. When you reassemble it, use loc tite on all the screws (blue). All engines are pretty good until you get a defect or your just learning, then they all suck!

i did 4 tanks of break in.10 minute breaks between tanks(it's colder in ny so if it was 15 minutes the engine would be cold again)first tank idle,second tank idle for half of it then small circles for the rest,third tank bigger circles and wide open strait away burst's(not to much like every 3 big circles do a straight run)forth tank have some fun,a little jumps,some hill climbing,but dont hold it wide open for a while,not atleast till ur 5th tank..after the 5th tank you will be good to go

just remember not to go full throttle until ur 4th tank..and after the 5th tank ur all set.....oh and remember to lock-tight ALL THE SCREWS so they dont rattle loose!!! this really sucks if ur not careful.

thank you, i think i know why the tank is runing out of fuel when i had not run the thing. it may be the screws too rich becase when i try to start it. it go's off back and forth. and i think its rich were gas is going out of the engine too fast. with out getting the thing to run.

welcome. i'd suggest watching my understanding carb and tuning the engine video :) plus why engine revs right after starting and why engine quits when braking. For engine quitting as soon as you take igniter off, LSN running too rich. :) so check and fix

i find later that gas is almost empty in tank.

my point is that if i see gas around the fly wheel area. is that a leak or is that gas burning away from engine. let me know if i got a leak.

you need to check if that gas is raw fuel or just fuel residues from old fuel.

if its raw fuel my man then you have got a leak somewhere. check the carb if its fit tight and firm and or well fit in there. sometimes its the carb that is loose and leaks the gas.

well i am sure your car settings are set to real rich so you are flooding it too much, engine won't start and it will just spit raw fuel out. thats why tank finishes quick

yes set both needles right. you need to find a good tuning setup for it and all your problems will be away. when making changes to LSN yes its real tiny changes that can cause difference

its all in the tuning my man. Final advice, use 30% nitro and hot glow plug. all will come to a good set then :)

Ok do you see a puddle of fuel under the car when you are starting? cuz if you do, that means there is a leak and fuel is running out. but if you don't see any, and all your raw fuel comes out of your exhaust that means your engine is getting too much fuel and that is why its not starting, excess fuel goes to exhaust simply. Check your valve settings, glow plugs and or clean the carb :)

I do not bother with technical stuff. Most of the RC Hobbyist don't know those technical mumbo jumbo and can't even understand what does that mean. For us RC Hobbyist, best thing is the feeling of driving and flying. So I always go with describing the feelings and easiest way to get around.

Check, glow plug, make sure you r not flooding the engine, prime it right, set the carb opening gap to 1mm and try again.

the glow plug is good and i take the glow plug out and tip it upside down and puff start it a couple of times to get the gas out. after that it will start the die right away.
