  • you said its white to move

  • yea, lol, I like the word Paradox { < This is somewhat a Paradox on itself }

  • That's what many Human Beings forget; that it's not always about Diffeculty, but also about Complicated- and Intern-Paradoxes.

    And just Paradoxes.

  • Hmmm... It might be The Most Famous Chess Puzzle in Chess for its Simplicity and ' Appearances are Deceptive ' synchronously, which Creates a Complicated Paradox[=the Reason why this is The Most Famous Chess Puzzle in Chess ], but this Most Famous Chess Puzzle in Chess is certainly not the Most Diffecult Chess Puzzle in Chess.

    Still, Famous is Famous.

  • No matter what, Black cannot loose in this scenario. The worst white can do is force a draw.

  • 'The most famous chess puzzle in chess.' Well its not going to be 'The most famous chess puzzle in monopoly' is it?

  • ? why is it a draw the qween can move right

  • haha, thats why its important to guard your pawns toward the ending of games

  • Most famous chess puzzle is too easy to solve. I kinda doubt this is the most famous.

  • @dokkiro This puzzle is one of the first ones to show that in chess, the straight path is not shorter than the "zig-zag path".

  • in above moves after 1. Kb7 ,Kg6 2. Kb6, a5 then?

  • @deeptimanb The letters for chess notation do not start from right to left.

They start from left to right: a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h.

    You may mean the following:

    in above moves after 1.Kg7 Kb6 2.Kf6 h4 then?...

    White must play 3.Ke5 and:

a/ if 3... Kxc6, then 4.Kf4 to take the Black pawn.

b/ if 3... h3, then 4.Kd6 to promote the White pawn.

  • in above moves black dont need to play 2... Kxc6 2... a5 then?

  • i solved it. No joke it took me like 2 seconds lol.

  • Mind = blown.

  • I actually solved this. :)

  • o yes master... its draw in any case.. i m sorry.. thanks for explaining me..

  • what if black king goes to b6 in its first step? again black wins.. so it is impossible for white to draw..ha ha

  • @kishanpatel2050 No, White draws in that case too. Please see: 1.Kg7 Kb6 2.Kf6, then: a/ 2... Kxc6 3.Kg5 (and the black pawn taken). b/ 2... h4 3.Ke5 (and again 2 ways of draw - White Queen or black pawn taken). Thank you for commenting.

  • thank you, sir.
