  • nice sweeps i have an original sweep song called 13th hour on my channel

  • Trusted name on Latino women marriage service rockmycity.info

  • Nice vid man! Check out mine and tell me what you think. I approach the 3 string arpeggios a little differently.

  • I like sweeping 4 string minor arpeggios. those are my fav and i can get em nice and fast cuz i got my hand used to playin them

  • standard.. e minor sweeps are on those frets in standard.. the first position.. the shape, however, can of course be moved on every position...

  • wat tuning r u in?

  • is that a Yamaha rgx220? if so i have that same guitar :P

  • tabs for 1:38 please :D

  • reminded me of Master Michael Angelo Batio...thankx man...that was helpful:)

  • awesome, thanks

  • i cant sweep but i can make sweep influes on my shredding because i use sweep scale but i alternative pcik on my left hand ( im lefty player )

  • not all arpeggios are sweep influenced.

  • this actually helped me a bit. especially cause im extremely new to sweep picking. thanks dude

  • ahh i still need work good vid tho it helps

  • thanx for the help!!!

  • I think its kinda easier, at least for the for the first part, with the stationary lick, to play it with your middle finger on the lowest string (lowest in pitch) and then you ring finger next, and then your pointer finger. Its simpler to me anyways.

  • might be easier for 3 string arpeggios but if you build of the same a pattern to 5 string sweep his way of fingering is easier.

  • thx a lot, im looking for some more exercises like this one, do u know more?

  • thanks for this very useful video liked the tapping video also very nice thanks

  • if u know this then u know bleeding mascara by atreyu. its the same arpeggio for the intro

  • right. its called a lesson. i show it slow, and explain it. then i show it fast, so you can see what it's like. as a musician, you have to learn to help yourself by practising until you get it, the notes are all described here for you. thanks for your attempt at picking me apart.

  • @SickNilva Of course he helped your just to fuckin' retarded to listen. He explained it very well.

  • nice sounds good.

  • thx u helped me

  • To much un muted string sound. Other then that. Good.

  • god fucking damnit i cant get this it doesn't even come close to sounding sweepish and my fingers cant move that fast

  • Belive me mate, when people say it takes a lot of patience and practice to learn, they are not joking :) Make yourself a promise that you will practice this 20-30 minutes every day, and you will be able to do it soon, i promise. Just start SLOOOOW and speed up. And make sure you don't speed up before you can handle the current speed. No point in making a bad habit a perfect bad habit. Good luck!

  • true that

  • Dont get bummed man,I had a hard time for a week then I broke out the metronome.Started at 50bpm,its been two weeks and just hit 178bpm.For me playing with the Metronome was key in dialing this lick in,just watching T.V. and every day build the speed a little..Technique comes first, speed will atomaticly follow without even realizing it.Keep playing brother you can do it.

  • Why cant u keep the first 3 fingers down?

woudnt that be easier? Sry, new at this

  • cause then all the notes would ring out and it would sound like a chord rather than sweeps

  • because that makes it sound like a chord.

  • um thats like the whole point of the sweep picking thing

  • eso esta un poco verde todavia hermano,a seguir practicando y estudiando

  • ¿tu sabes tocar la guitarra? :D

  • Drathok = Win ^^

  • i have been practicing this alot and still need alot more speed but this lesson is great

  • that was a great lesson!

    very well done

  • well done!

  • very good guitar sweeps. 5/5 for this video

PLS go to my favs (I only have 3) click on ARIEL SIMANTOV. he is self-taught, sweeps nicely and improvises his songs as he goes along. the other 2 favs SUBURBAN GUY ROCKIN OUT is awesome! and ARIEL

PLS view comment and rate them as we think he deserves recognition. thanks everyone!

  • thats the sweep in the beginning of bleeding mascara

  • Thx

  • nice video...but i cant get the fretting with that full speed..

  • thanks

  • Thanks bro,I learned a lot,but still there is one thing i didn't know,it is the HARMONIC SOUND,Could you please upload one?

    Thanks.

  • This is great!!!!

  • lol last outro thing i taught there was there standing steve vai

  • Thanks for posting this! Very helpful, and your teaching style is very friendly and accessible.

  • i fucking love you lol thx so much bro

  • i like that terminology;rake,lol

  • rake is actually the original term that was used

  • The last note do you hammeron and pullof or pick the notes? I tried both but don't know which method is the best to use.

  • good lesson

  • stupid question but...is there any harm in using ur finger instead of the pick?

  • with the pick you get a cleaner sound

  • it takes alotta talent to do sweeps and its cool to get them down but instead of todays guitarist trying to go 90 miles an hr with the gain cranked turn the dam gain down and play with some feeling...awesome vid though dude very helpful

  • This is 3 string is a shorter segment to a full 5 string sweep..using those same notes. It's basically...A(12)D(10)G(9)B(10)e(8h/o12)

On the e string you hammer and pull off 8 and 12, then come back up with the same notes. A simple sweep that I like to use a lot. You can also when hammering on from 8 to 12, you can tap on 17, just to make it sound cooler and look cooler.

  • thanks man!

    your great!

i can actually do sweeps now!

i did what u told me, practiced for 2 days and i can do em just as fast!

    thanks man!

    it worked great

  • i like how he sped it up just alittle bit

  • How do yo get that clean tone?

  • have a nice shred type distortion and put your guitar on its neck pickup.

  • Useful Video and instruction . Thank You.

  • haha u kind of sound like the guy from robot chicken.... great lesson btw!!

  • yeaa the nerd guy huh!

  • wat type of guitar's do u guys hav??

    i hav a B.C Rich Mockingbird Masterpiece

  • OMG, I finally found another another Mockingbird user!!! I never thought I would see the day.

  • hehe

    i gotta ibanez sz720fm

  • your first sweep pattern is the beginning of the solo to "redemption" by shadows fall, correct? really good job.

  • you're supposed to start slow and slowly speed up, that's how you get better

  • hey thank .. you helped me really a lot

no I do my first little sweep picking <3

  • if only...

  • how long does that take to master?? I can play it slow, but when trying fast it starts sounbding like bad cord playing

  • .8 TO 1 !!!!

I CAN'T USE THOSE PICKS FOR SHIT...THEY MAKE MY GUITAR SOUND REALLY STRINGY...*but then again my guitar is really uncomfortable to me...it doesn't feel right*

  • This is just fucking impossible. I've been trying it for days. There must be something I'm missing, my fingering is the same as yours but I don't use my pinkey(I absolutely despise using my pinkey). I can play it slow but when I start trying to sweep and play with my left hand at the same time it just sounds like utter crap. not at all as harmonic as you play it. Im on the verge of giving up, maybe I just don't have it.

  • bro dont give up and you have to get use to the pinky its just practice i was the same and lil by lil i got it so dont sweat it and try

  • 0__o how much time did you take to do that?

  • im still practicing but palm muting kinda helps stop the ring.. like everytime u play a string palm mute it just a lil bit then continue... i hope i helped

  • that last note was one hell of a scream lol... really good lesson keep it up. :)

  • hi may i ask wut kind of pick you use

    thank you :)

  • kinda thick. anywhre from .8 to 1mm

  • this seems like a promising exercise..perfect for practicing..thatnks..

  • how long does this shit take!

    ahh it's soo tedious

    =[

  • thAt was actually kinda clean

  • Not very clean, but still really good :)

  • thanx m8! very nice!

  • when you get the the high E string , areyou doing a hammeron and pulloff or aryou picking it???

  • he pick then pulloff i think....

well i do it that way

  • dude thats so explanatory thanx imma try it out

  • gonna try!

    thank you

  • i hav the same guitar as u dude

  • Seems really hard.. thanks anyway! :)

  • thank you for your explanation! I will try to do it.

  • Great lesson. I kinda only got 2 sweep speeds too heh, show folks and rake lol. Remember, it looks like its fast, his left hand is very, but his right is slooow. My problem with sweeps is getting the right hand too fast. If I work sweeps a week it throws me out of timing on alternate badly, so I gave this parlor trick up unfortunately. I want to play that fast with more control.. Im getting there.

  • LMFAO

lets speed it up a little bit *insert herman li speed*

  • lol speed it up a "little" bit you went from 0 to 60.

  • great lesson

  • Holy shiiit I can do it, ill post a video response in a few months when I get a video camera to show how effective your lesson is

thanks so much for extending my skills

  • Great thanks!

  • tips**

  • fret each note individually, dont try to hold a chord. practise making noise without actually doing the exercise, just sweep pick with the strings muted to make sure you have the dynamics down.

  • I tried this but it just sounds like im struming the string Gimmie some ti.

  • I like the bit where he says "were gunna speed it up a lil bit" then goes insanely fast!

  • thats hella sick man good vid im hella gonna work on that shit thatnks man

  • How long have you played guitar to be able to do this??

  • holy shit...

  • nice work bro, i really like the change in scale, very yngwie, it's clean sweeping too man, very nice work :)

  • this may be a dumb question... but if i leave my left hand stationary is it still sweeping? i know the sound is a little bit different but for everything i have been learning it is possible.

  • your left can remain steady... it doesnt have to fly all over the place. since sweeping is so fast, you want to focus of efficiency, so as little movement as possible. as long as you're still sounding the notes properly, id say you're onto something.

  • just a question... how long did it take you to master this??

  • I'm not sure. I feel it's far from mastered myself lol but to get where I was I put some long days in with it.. I don't shred all day but when I get in the mood to tighten up I go crazy on stuff like this too.. I was probably aware of the technique for 2 years at this point but like I said it's not my thing so I'm not the cat's ass at it.

  • great video, i'm just starting to sweep pick, so this is helping. just some questions

1)any tips on how could i increse my finger speed (like getting my fingers on and off the frets faster)

2)should i use a a greater or lesser portion of the pick when i am doing the sweeping motion? ~ thanks a bunch

  • for finger speed... unfortunately all i can recommend is practise your face off. the pick can be held a pick softer when you do this, so you can use a lil more of the pick if you like; that's probably another thing you should experiment and see what works best for you.. personally i use a larger portion than if i was alternate picking.

  • what do u mean by face off?

  • great vid :D

  • I got this down it's just the finger endurance. I can't do it more than like 5 maybe 6 time with out getting fatigue.

  • yeah i find it really ties your hand in a knot after a while

  • nice i love it. The guitars a schecter gryphon diamond series right? i have the same one. Also, i find sweep picking very difficult, especially coordinating both hands when i get up to speed

  • ya dude its super tough im glad its not my main style cuz id sweat alot... the guitar is an ibanez rg170 with wizard II neck :)

  • do you have any tips for alternate picking...iv practiced like the past two days and i still find myself alternate picking

  • when you alternate pick, it's a good idea to use as little as the pick as possible for faster parts, and for slower more expressed notes you can use more of the pick. keep a firm grip on the pick but not a death grip. make sure the strings bounch off your pick and not vice versa. for an exercise such as this video, you'll want to avoid alternate picking altogether.

  • this might sound stupid but how long did it take you to master i have been trying the technique for about day but i can only get half your speed

  • I'm not sure. I don't focus on shredding, I like to use stuff like this as warmups and drills. I've been doing it for a few years now... when I made this video I was probably aware of how to do it for a year or two but it's not something I drill all day, I prefer the blues personally.

  • nice vid! What effects do you use?

  • probably a distortion with a little reverb at the time. that was before i had all the gear i wanted, so its pretty gainy. the webcam used for recording really doesnt help either. oh well, i suppose the point got across since there's 70k views as of now haha

  • your guitar is like the mine

mmm i cant find the brand of my guitar, in the web.

    but is like the yours

  • Hey! Why aren't you using your third finger? Instead of switching the first (index) from d (on G string) to f (on E string), you could hold it in a D minor position... or it is part of the exercise? Thanks!

  • great man im trying to learne sweep picking

  • Cool video man, thanks for the advice

  • You got the same problem as mean.

I always get the g-string to sound after i hit it =(

  • not at the end

  • I've been trying to nail sweeps for a long time now, and it seems I'm doing it the right way, but I just can't speed it up that quickly, any suggestions?

  • Got the same prob =(

  • I practiced today, and all of the sudden, I can do them kinda quick and flowing, the problem was in my picking =/ maybe you have the same problem?

  • i have started sweeping about a week ago and not to show off or anything but i can do it at about the same speed as the tutorial vids. I think you get faster when u feel so comfortable with it that u dont think about it. Just try to play as fast as u can. I iwll try uploading a video of my sweeping progress..

  • i agree. im not a shredder like i said in previous posts.. but this is a great technique to tighten your game up a lil bit no matter what style you play. using a hammer on/pull off instead of a pick when you're at the notes on the E string may help this exercise sound smoother :) keep rockin dudes and babes

  • Thanks all.

Btw, is it only me or is his g-string sounding a bit to much ? :D

  • i hate people that can sweep pick i've been at it for 3 months now and i get a little better but i cant throw my hands like that its fucking weird

  • He isn't out of tune, his intonation's out.

  • very straight forward, nice

  • dont mind the dick wads your a good player man thanks for the vid

  • Despite what others have said *cough*tonsa92*cough*. I think this is a great lesson.

    Hopefully we'll see some more.

  • well explained man thanks.

  • This has gotta be the hardest guitar technique I've come across so far. Please shut your mouth if you want to tell me harder stuff.

  • you make a lot of mistakes in sped up version. i can hear open strings playing

  • thanks for your valued comment. this video isnt called watch me go crazy, its a lesson. it shows you how to do it. it doesnt showcase me as a musician, im not a shredder but this is a good exercise. im sure you can learn to use your search engine a little better if you want to find virtuosos. thanks.

  • What a dick! I swear, you tube audiences are impossible to please! Why don't you just materialize in his kitchen and make him a sandwich while you're at it!!!

Great video, you've earned a new sub, hope to see more!!!

    Word!

  • youre a good teacher dude , ive been working on this technique for about 20 months or so and umm yea i could ve used your thoughts towards the technique when i first started

  • sorryu in my last comment i meant 10 not 20 lmao

  • Great lesson!! I'm just now learning how to sweep. Best lesson yet. keep it simple. Thanks

  • Sounds cool. Have you ever tried to play this over music? It a quintuplet so it sounds like hell.

  • Great instructional vid. Thank you!

  • man i don't know how some people can play with a closed hand i fells heavy when i tried that. but good stuff man nice speed.

  • your out of tune. but great player

  • GREAT playing dude! Thats a nasty video, shows you must practice those licks a shit ton! Nice job. My only comment against it would be like halfway through the vid when you were playing fast i could hear the g string openly, the note was bleeding through, just didn't mute it because you were going so fast i think. Even so, thats easy to fix. nice job.

  • oh god that's hard to learn. how long did it take for you to learn this?

  • wow thats cool

  • good lord I wish I could do that...

  • Hey man, I see you're responding to questions quite often so I have a question for you...Does it matter how I do my upstrokes/downstrokes? Here's how I do mine: D D D U U D D D U U D

    E|-----13H17P13------13H18P13-----|

    G|---15--------15--15--------15---|

    B|-14------------14------------14-|

Will this method work in the long run?

Does it even really matter? I just want to make sure i'm doing things right.

  • Ugh, my tab got messed up. Anyway, basically what I was trying to point out is that I downstrum when I get back to the B string rather than upstrumming it like you do. Will this work as well? Or should I change my technique?

  • Awesome lick by the way man, It sounds sweet alternating between 17/18

  • In my opinion what your doing is fine. As long as your not hitting the B twice and your actually hitting the next string with your sweep then its fine imo. Im not sure which way is best for motion economy but I'd guess they're pretty similar.

  • Hey, I was taught this lick one of two ways. D D D U U; or simply D D D U (repeating; this is if you use pull offs which makes the lick sound more legato). Personally, I always liked the notes to all hit hard so I've used D D D U U; but it's really up to the player for what sound you're going for.

  • great lesson man. helped me out a lot

  • Good lesson, thank you. The descending and ascending exercises really break up the monotonous sound and make it a little more fun to practice.

  • you only use 4 strings.

  • 3 strings.

  • well if hes only gonna use the 3 strings he has to make it awsome.

  • its good to start with 3 or 4 srings and then go on to the 5 and 6 string sweep
