Not to sound all bitchy but you REALLY shouldn't feed deers. Deers have an exremely sensitive stomach and if you are to give them different food then what they naturally eat, then you have to make the transition very slow so they get used to it. =)
So this is Indiana? Lovely. Thank you for sharing your life with us. I live in Florida (North Cenral - Gaineville) and we have deer in our backyard too. But they only come in twilight...
its definately not normal here in indiana, our family has been feeding momma dear and her yearly offspring for many many years. most dear see people and they run away!
@p0ppytart as they should, as not everyone will treat them deer as you are. and by feeding them you increase the chances of the getting hit by cars killing them or drivers or going to close to someone who means them harm. i can see you would treat them with respect but some wouldn't :) Your choice :P nice deer tho look healthy,
Not too much, they have to mix in roughage and protein for their digestion. With just carbohydrates, their digestion stalls and bacteria produce gases causing bloat. Awesome video!
they get lots of roughage in the backyard, its woods. then we also feed them apples as well. i dont believe they depend solely on us for food, im sure they are eating whatever they usually eat in the wild. thanks for the tip! we want to keep them healthy too, not just fat!
yes we also feed them apples. apples we get from the store and also apples that grow on trees at my father in laws house. we havent tried carrots though, thanks for the idea!
isn't it? that was only my 2nd time feeding her by hand. the first time was this past weekend and i only got to feed her one piece and then thunder or one of the kids or something scared her and she took off. This time i got to feed her alot, she's so pretty upclose, i loved it!

Great video, but! I have a little problem with the amount of bread the first doe ate.Bread is not the most nourishing thing to offer deer.
They were obviously hungry..have you thought about apple pieces or carrots as an alternative?

Awesome vid. We had a fawn show up in the backyard recently. The kids got to touch it. They'll keep that memory forever.
