the father is a coward for leaving his son in a burning house. There is no excuse why the father could not have entered the upper floors to get the child.
Room and contents fire gone horribly wrong. Glad they got the kid out that the jackass "father " abandoned. Other than that this is a classic vid in how NOT to fight a fire. It hurts to watch.

@Ese1997 in all departments white hats are the chiefs and asst. chiefs. In my department red hats are the capts. yellow hats are the regular firefighters and blue hats are high school age cadets. but on paid departments I believe the blue hats are EMT/Paramedic trained firefighters.

Excellent Job Guys, don't pay any attention to people who criticize. Hand them an application and they can see how hard the work is and not many people saying thank you. Gentlemen THANK YOU for your service!!
In the first few seconds you can see the officer talking into his radio, most likely telling the incoming units what they have. Tailboard then comes out with the kid and hands it off to someone. Immediately after that the guy in the black coat points in the house probably suggesting there is still someone in there, and the officer and tailboard run back in to look for them. The hose is then advanced in and a aggressive interior attack is made.
How fast can things happen. Talk about putting fire out first. By the clock on the video you see water shooting from the interior at 1:22 minutes from film start.
I say way to go guys. They saved a life and started fire suppression with in a minute and a half from the time the first line was on ground. Good job.
Like a boss. He got the kid, ran out, passed her off, then went back in. Good thing that scumbag of a father got arrested for impeding fire extinguishment.
Astounding how the parents left their kid in a high chair in the house and didn't bother to grab her on their way out.
@chanapan49 Not only did these firefighters make a rescue but also it appears they contained the fire to one part of the structure with an interior attack (notice the water shooting out from the inside). If you don't know what your talking about you sure as hell shouldn't criticize.
@jrediger1 I credit the FD with the good rescue but the fire was not "contained" to one part of the structure.
It AUTO EXPOSED from the basement up the face of the front of the house and eventually made it up to the roof and made the that portion of the home structurally questionable.
Notice the lines layed in front to combat the auto exposure AFTER the fire had a headstart?
They were playing catchup and should have anticipated the possible auto exposure problem.
why the hell did they extinguish the fire first thats the last thing to do if a life is in danger. The SOP (standard operating procedures) clearly states that LIFE SAFETY always come first then its incident stabilization the property conservation need to send your firefighters back to their 1152 course. or atleast your Incident comander.
@firemanst6 at 0:06 a firefighter comes out with the toddler. And it appears that the first line has yet to be charged. Looks like they made a real quick grab. Good job as far as i'm concerned.
get your head gear strait. First priority is human life and the first engine in was on immediate search and rescue. Next time just because you want a quick knock down we will leave the victims die so you can watch a fast knock down.
@koopa4232 me too. There was a fire across the street from me the other night. It was on the second floor in one room, (Most houses on our street were built in 1910-1930) and 5 fire trucks rolled up, knocked the windows out, and let the hose rip. They didnt waste anytime and got the fire out before it got anywhere near big enough to flash over in the room or spread to any of the other rooms. Kinda gives me peace of mind that if my place catches fire, our dept will be quick in knockin it out.
Firefighters did an outstand job. 1) Rescue first, 2) Fight fire from the inside out. I may have req PD for ---hole control, or at "accidently" turned a waterstream on him. I once had a fire w/ front end of house fully involved, rescue operation going on, and an interior attack from the rear of the house. Some ---hole physically attacks my engineer because we weren't fighting it right. I went after AH with a hydrant wrench but PD put him in custody. We lost 6 kids. These guys are great.
Last choice is to put water in a window. You end up pushing it all back in to the structure and possibly making it worse. U want to push it out that's why you saw a stream come out first.
the reason why water is not used as soon as we arrive on scene is because our first priority is life. we have too perform a primary search of the house. if they had put the fire out prior too searching the house that child would have been cooked alive. steam from that fire would have filled the entire house. Im a volunteer firefighter for pasadena,tx fire dept. ...this miss understanding that paid do more than volunteers is wrong.
please explain to me why it took so long for them to start sprayingwater on it!!!! why were they moving so slow? the house was completely engulfed before anyone did a damn thing
@sweetbabynrs1 Before they did anything? Did you not see the firefighter rescue the kid 6 seconds into the video? Fire is not the priority when life is in danger. Also, from the other comments there was someone stopping the firefighters from doing their jobs.
I'm paid and I was volunteer for 8 years and guess what when your dealing with the devil he dosent discriminate also if you are voluanteer then my hat is off to you because becoming a full time paid firefighter is the hardest blue collar job in the world to obtain if you got one then be thankful because the next guy is willing to put his ass on the line for no $ at all it is a passion and a calling that is why people do it for no $ you paid guys Be thankful that they are there to help appreciat
@unclefloyd77 Hey Floyd, let me tell you something. I was a volunteer Lieutenant in South Carolina, and a Captain and paid firefighter in Elmira Heights NY. You know what the difference was between the two? I got a check in NY. There was no difference between the men, the job, the brotherhood or the comraderie. You sir, are 100% full of shit. Thanks for playing the game, we have some lovely parting gifts... dolt.
@unclefloyd77 I call bullshit on everything you are saying about being a firefighter. No real firefighter bashes someone for being a volunteer in the middle of no where. I happen to be a proud volunteer in a department that is in the middle of no where. A firefighter is a firefighter no matter where you go. We all wear the same uniform and do the same job.
@unclefloyd77 "A program designed to encourage kids to make good choices and have positive career goals." such as better serving your local community by joining the fire department
@unclefloyd77 ignoramus is a word look it up and interior firefighting is intense it is what has gotten me into fire fighting but you have seen the footage of some of those wildfires out west yes? try standing next to one of those and then we'll talk. and again fyi i live in new york, when you become a park service wild land fire fighter you get commisiond and deployed when they need you i was even pulled off a dig to go out to the arizona fires last year
@unclefloyd77 and all i could find on joe errico was a video that said he was on the providence fire department union, i assume he fought to disband volly companies? and if you are an officer in the providence fire dep. and therefore represent that companys values and personell i can only assume that the majority of people in the providence rhode island fire department are a bunch of ignoramuses.
@unclefloyd77 fyi i became a professional wildland firefighter with the park service after my experience in my local company (still a member) what exactly is your problem with volly's anyway? and don't give me some crap about them takeing your job and ect. i assume that you like many just like a good argument/debate.
Man.....what a bunch of bull. I was a volunteer and later went through one of the most difficult academies in the nation to become career, which I am now. I I'll say this, 80% of the nations firefighters are volunteer. If they were to all up and quit we would be in a world of shit. To bash them is complete ignorance and pride. If you want to get pissed, get pissed at the municipalities that refuse to hire enough firefighters to properly protect our society.
What is with all this dick measuring between paid and volunteer? I started volunteer, now im paid, and still volunteer for another dept on the side. At my paid dept we also have volunteers, who get all the same exact training as the paid, and do the job just as well. Only difference is that i get paid and they dont.
what I dont get is why the HELL would this guy want to pick a fight with the very people who (a) just saved his son's LIFE!! and (b) are working their asses off to put out a fire that's about to destroy this dude's house?! is this dumb bastard drunk, or just plain stupid?!
Both paid and volley firefighters sound like assholes when your playing the "I've got a bigger dick" game. Get over yourselves. We both have much bigger and better things to deal with. I'm paid where I work, and volley where I live.
@unclefloyd77 70% are vollunteers. If they leave their won't be many firefighters to save you. I don't know about you but I'd rather have someone willing to save me then someone just doing it for the money
We are all there to do the same thing. To protect and serve people when they need it most. It should'nt matter if were career or volunteer. Its a special bond no matter what way or how you do it. Its a Brotherhood.
it sickens me to hear all of this bashing of career and volunteer firefighters.I am a volunteer and have extensive training. Maybe not as much as a career ff but still enough to get the job done. Im sorry but if you do it every day for a job you would probably be more efficient and things would probably look smooth. Its funny to me that 70% of the nations firefighters are volunteer but we are the untrained wannabees. we do it because of the passion and drive. you do it for the money..
Wow unclefloyd77, SCABS..... Do you honestly think being PAID makes you a better firefighter.... Maybe include better training... Well I call that bullshit because where im at, the volunteers are better at what they do compared to PAID ff's. And the training is much more extensive.. Now, I will not argue that there was alot of WTF are you doing in this video...This sure looks like a career dept......
@unclefloyd77 It sounds like you just like you spend too much time watching videos and criticizing others. Maybe you should spend more of your time on the back of a firetruck helping your local community.
@unclefloyd77 Hay calm down, Paid or volunteers everyone does the bit. In Australia we are trained Rescue before extinguish if safe. Human life is more important than a house that can be rebuilt.
LOL dude i woulda hit him with a clipboard as i was writing the incident report, woulda been justified self defense in court. Agressor posed a threat to my safety. i reacted as i felt was necessary. lmao douchebag.
Cant believe they didnt hit it from the outside with water while the interior guys were making their way in....I guess they wanted to let it get cooking so they could really have some fun
An Elgin man accused of setting fire to a home where his child was located has been found guilty of aggravated DUI and a weapons charge.
Kane County Judge Timothy Sheldon found James R. Beavers Jr., 32, guilty of DUI, unlawful use or possession of a weapon and violation of an order of protection.
the guy in the white tank top needs to join a fire dept to see what us firefighter go though, there is no reason to act like he did, understandable hes pissed about his house burning up,probably his fault anyway, these people where there to help and he was just hampering the effort
@getsomelead shit most times u start out with a saw starts up in the begging of the day then when u need it it done but u got to get the job done some how
The guy in the white tank top is a fucking dumbass. Walking around with his chest all puffed out and arms all wide acting like a big hardass. The fire fighter that he layed a hand on handeled it very professionally and stayed calm the whole time. I'm glad he got arrested for being a asshole. LOSER!
I apologize to the experienced FFs if my question is rather ignorant of the subject matter, but from my inexperienced observation it seems like they could've put water on that fire LONG before it ate up the entire side of the house. Is there any reason why they didn't?
@GUMMYBEAYUH They wanted to fight the fire from the inside at the expense of letting it grow. They feared they would push the fire back into the house, but a little water would have cooled it down. Poor hose pulls. You never drop a pile of hose because you get a mess later. You do a split pull and spread the hose in both directions. The guy holding the ladder should of stayed back at he station and cooked.
@GUMMYBEAYUH Don't know as none of us were there. We have a 100' "trash" line that's preconnected on the front bumper that would've been perfect to knock down the exterior fire before it got into the attic. If the father had pulled that shit here, the cops would have been the least of his worries. He would've been on the ground with about a 1,000 pounds of firefighters on top of him.
fail.... i coulda put that fire out with an extinguisher before it got big, meanwhile these guys spend 20mins putting their shit on and connecting hoses and the house gets ravaged...
i have only been a firefighter since august but its long enough for me 2 point out 2 mistakes on this fire call. mistake # 1 is the first engine on scene should have had a line in the building and after tied into a hydrant. even though the truck runs out of water in 2 min. thats plenty of time to hook up to a hydrant. mistake # 2 is all civilians should have been kept out of the vicinity to minimize chances of injuries to them and firefighters cuase as you can see, that guy was a distraction
Incredible, absolutely incredible.

Astounding how the parents left their kid in a high chair in the house and didn't bother to grab her on their way out.
IXIArblargIXI 6 months ago 16
damage and daring rescues is not needed if they extinguish the fire immediately, how lousy
chanapan49 6 months ago
pretty slow and lousy! the fire fighters are just walking around and seems don't take to much attention of the increasing fire!
chanapan49 6 months ago
@chanapan49 Not only did these firefighters make a rescue but also it appears they contained the fire to one part of the structure with an interior attack (notice the water shooting out from the inside). If you don't know what your talking about you sure as hell shouldn't criticize.
jrediger1 5 months ago
@jrediger1 I credit the FD with the good rescue but the fire was not "contained" to one part of the structure.
It AUTO EXPOSED from the basement up the face of the front of the house and eventually made it up to the roof and made the that portion of the home structurally questionable.
Notice the lines layed in front to combat the auto exposure AFTER the fire had a headstart?
They were playing catchup and should have anticipated the possible auto exposure problem.
25mfd 2 months ago
why the hell did they extinguish the fire first thats the last thing to do if a life is in danger.

Good job as far as i'm concerned.

koopa4232 7 months ago
@koopa4232 me too. There was a fire across the street from me the other night. It was on the second floor in one room, (Most houses on our street were built in 1910-1930) and 5 fire trucks rolled up, knocked the windows out, and let the hose rip. They didnt waste anytime and got the fire out before it got anywhere near big enough to flash over in the room or spread to any of the other rooms. Kinda gives me peace of mind that if my place catches fire, our dept will be quick in knockin it out.
TheWaynelds 7 months ago
thats some bad parenting leaving your toddler in the house while its on fire. I'm glad he got arrested for that.
TheWaynelds 7 months ago
Firefighters did an outstand job. 1) Rescue first, 2) Fight fire from the inside out. I may have req PD for ---hole control, or at "accidently" turned a waterstream on him. I once had a fire w/ front end of house fully involved, rescue operation going on, and an interior attack from the rear of the house. Some ---hole physically attacks my engineer because we weren't fighting it right. I went after AH with a hydrant wrench but PD put him in custody. We lost 6 kids. These guys are great.
smokey1255 7 months ago
fighting a firefighter....bad idea because you're going to have so many other firefighters jump your shit.
ArmyRescue2 7 months ago in playlist firefighter
Last choice is to put water in a window. You end up pushing it all back in to the structure and possibly making it worse. U want to push it out that's why you saw a stream come out first.

Only issue I see (Other than the arsonist a-hole) is getting off the rig of a known?? working structure fire. Just my .02

Why not try to put some water on the fire?
MrHillDo 7 months ago
the reason why water is not used as soon as we arrive on scene is because our first priority is life. we have too perform a primary search of the house. if they had put the fire out prior too searching the house that child would have been cooked alive. steam from that fire would have filled the entire house. Im a volunteer firefighter for pasadena,tx fire dept. ...this miss understanding that paid do more than volunteers is wrong.

@sweetbabynrs1 Before they did anything? Did you not see the firefighter rescue the kid 6 seconds into the video? Fire is not the priority when life is in danger. Also, from the other comments there was someone stopping the firefighters from doing their jobs.

@unclefloyd77 70% are vollunteers. If they leave their won't be many firefighters to save you. I don't know about you but I'd rather have someone willing to save me then someone just doing it for the money

deshano502 9 months ago 2
it sickens me to hear all of this bashing of career and volunteer firefighters.I am a volunteer and have extensive training. Maybe not as much as a career ff but still enough to get the job done. Im sorry but if you do it every day for a job you would probably be more efficient and things would probably look smooth. Its funny to me that 70% of the nations firefighters are volunteer but we are the untrained wannabees. we do it because of the passion and drive. you do it for the money..
deshano502 9 months ago
Wow unclefloyd77, SCABS..... Do you honestly think being PAID makes you a better firefighter.... Maybe include better training... Well I call that bullshit because where im at, the volunteers are better at what they do compared to PAID ff's. And the training is much more extensive.. Now, I will not argue that there was alot of WTF are you doing in this video...This sure looks like a career dept......

I could be wrong ,. but, I think He caused the fire.
My guess is since the child was in the high chair The father was trying to cook himself some lunch fell asleep
and then the food caught fire.
That poor child.
I never saw him being rescued in the tape.

I apologize to the experienced FFs if my question is rather ignorant of the subject matter, but from my inexperienced observation it seems like they could've put water on that fire LONG before it ate up the entire side of the house. Is there any reason why they didn't?
GUMMYBEAYUH 11 months ago
@GUMMYBEAYUH They wanted to fight the fire from the inside at the expense of letting it grow. They feared they would push the fire back into the house, but a little water would have cooled it down. Poor hose pulls. You never drop a pile of hose because you get a mess later. You do a split pull and spread the hose in both directions. The guy holding the ladder should of stayed back at he station and cooked.
blinko656 11 months ago
@GUMMYBEAYUH Don't know as none of us were there. We have a 100' "trash" line that's preconnected on the front bumper that would've been perfect to knock down the exterior fire before it got into the attic. If the father had pulled that shit here, the cops would have been the least of his worries. He would've been on the ground with about a 1,000 pounds of firefighters on top of him.

i have only been a firefighter since august but its long enough for me 2 point out 2 mistakes on this fire call. mistake # 1 is the first engine on scene should have had a line in the building and after tied into a hydrant. even though the truck runs out of water in 2 min. thats plenty of time to hook up to a hydrant. mistake # 2 is all civilians should have been kept out of the vicinity to minimize chances of injuries to them and firefighters cuase as you can see, that guy was a distraction
