  • Im happy i saw this video. I just finish taking out my braids. And mind you this is my 3rd time in life getting braids, soooo....thanks for the help! i subbed :-)

  • @one2trynewthings thanks for subbing and glad to hear this video helped!

  • @lyndaespratley anytime!

  • I lost some hair too detangling this way but I finally found out today that you lose much less (almost none) when you wet the buidup first and use your nails to flatten it a little by scratching (not pulling)it. After the buildup seems to have loosened itself from the strands, then you can start your proceedure of removing a few strands at a time. IT WORKS!

  • thank you for the video I'm going to use your tips and purchase some the Take down remover #wishmeluck as I detest buildup and wind up pulling out my hair in frustration.. thanks again!!!

  • Great video-build up with braids and weaves is real. But we are not supposed to loose clumps of hair-natural hair is even stronger than relaxed hair. Water based products do not work effectively.

The Take Down Remover is the best braid remover. it detangles dreadlocks-so it can soften any type of build up...you DO NOT have to pay any price. Your hair is precious.

  • Thank you! I was flipping out with my first micro take down and now I'm going to take my time tonight to detangle properly...peace

  • Lady all you needed to do was to put the Take Down Remover cream on your hair first. the cream takes out dreadlocks without hair loss. It really softens hair.Never use a water based product to remove braids. they can make the hair tangle and matt at the roots. The Take Down Remover can save your hair even if your braids have been in for 6months toooooo long. And you never have to "pay the price eventually" to lose your beautiful natural hair. That is the biggest faux pas with black women.

  • I wet my head 10 - 15 minutes before removing mine. It works better than conditioner for me.

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks I needed some advice on how to take out the build up in my hair

  • I wouldn't suggest using conditioner. It's too wet and makes the hair too soft. Spray tons of the moisturizing braid spray daily for one week to the buildup areas BEFORE you plan on taking them down. Dry hair is stronger hair, so use an oil based product to break down the gunk. Let the strands absorb the oil for a few moments to soften. Then gradually rake that section of hair with a small tooth comb, use your fingers to remove each strand. I guarantee you will not lose that many strands.

  • thanks sooo much for the tips! im taking my twists out now! half way done =)

  • I hate Build Up!

  • shut the hell up we know who you are and we know the topic of the video damn dont have to say it in the video yal muthafucka kill me with dat shit

  • great vid.I uses a hairpin to take down my braids. hope this helps too

  • Another nice video. Thanks!

  • I have micro braids for the first time. This video was very informative- especially because you appear very experienced and you stress some good wisdoms. Thanks!

  • I think extensions are dirty.

  • THank you!!! I always have issues with buildup!

  • i was close to tears today when i removed my braids.i am transioning and my hair gets so tangled !the only thing i can thing of is to cut it all...i have lost a great amount of hair today i keep consoling myslf by sinkin its normal when you braid out..i cant even through the hair away...its hurts me sooo much..sniff snifff

  • I plan on getting twists with extension hair. How long is it safe to keep them in?? I believe my hair type is 3c/4a MAJORITY 4a (I think). Please reply quickly. Thanks!! :-)

  • 2 months is the healthy max time

  • I kept my twists in for 3 months. But my twists were huge and so is the build no breakage so far. I just rub it until it breaks apart takes about 6 hours to do the whole head!

  • Great advice. my daughter gets really bad build up, especially in the back. I am going to be a lot more carefuly in future.

  • This is great!!!!!!!!!!! I know lots of friends that didn't know how to do this!

Also, a major point is (for those that are relaxed or natural) ----- Do not wash your hair immediately after taking out your braids---- Put lots of conditioner in your hair & comb through to detangle!!!!!!!!

    You said it great girl!!

  • Girl your hair has really grown alot! You go girl..lol

  • Im glad you made this video because i did not know how to handle that build up, i have my third set of kinky twist in and every time i take them down i seem to loose so much hair behind that buildup, thanks

  • Thanks for the advice!!

  • I agree you have to be patient...My hair would not survive that...unless I paid someone to do it. Because my patience level is sucks!

  • Great advice!

  • U wanna kno sumthing easy to do

PUT CONDITIONER IN UR HAIR BEFOR U TAKE THE BRAID OR TWIST OUT N LET IT SIT FOR 30 MINS

  • I have kinky twist i am gonna try that when i take them out, thanks!

  • 'thanks for the vid! I have braids in too and I do not really take my time, but I will now! YES MA'AM! :)

  • You are so right about build up about having build up in your hair after taking out braids. I actually had my braids in for four months but I didn't experice any hair loss but I would never do that again in that my hair grew but it was weak. Great video and tips..

  • I get build up too, but I wash my braids weekly, and I constantly re do the front and the back, like seriously. It's good practice for learning how to braid yourself. My hair DOES look fuzzy but I have no build up and I lay the fuzz down with my leave in conditioning mousse. For those of you who work faster, when redoing your braids, you most likely wont have a problem controlling the frizz.
