6:00 White can take with his knight on c6 anyway. After black takes with bishop, white retakes with the bishop at g2 and black has to take back with his pawn and black has triple pawns.
@rocco7050 black rook to a6, white queen to b7, black queen takes white queen, white bishop takes black queen. Now Deep Blue must move his rook to b6 to save both the rook and the bishop, while Kasparov can safely retreat with his bishop, while Deep Blue's rook and bishop are blocked because moving one of those two mean losing the other.
@HermanosZerep Right, but then after the exchange black would just take a second knight with his own knight making the trade 2 knights and a queen for a queen and a rook and with black in a better position.
Why does the video by "alexteclo" (Deep Blue vs Kasparov) say that Deep Blue won game 1 and Kasparov resigned game 2 while in a drawn position, but this one says Deep Blue won game 1 and Kasparov won game 2??... I'm confused...which is true??
@yisoonshin12 Yeah there were at least 12 games in 1996 and another 12 in 1997 - if you search "Kasparov v Deep Blue" it actually comes up with all the games played in both years, from game 1 to the final game which was lost by Kasparov in just 19 moves!! He resigned, he misplayed the opening, a premature ...h6 allowing a devestating knight sac on f7, Kasparov was uncastled and fell victim to a devestating attack - I urge you to look it up!! :)
Great videos! Any chance you can add a "latest uploads" board to the home page of your website? That way I don't miss it if you do videos for any of the other classic games you have posted :)
I play shredder on hard., Black white black white etc. In 20 game series it used to beat me 18-0 with 2 draws, tho now i'm getting stronger and getting some wins. When i reach 40% success rate per 20 games i will be ready for humans. Shredder has taught me in-between moves, sacrifices, and an instinctive nose for danger, especially PAWN ADVANCES and exchanges that create pawn weaknesses.Shredder is the perfect opponent. It doesn't fart, cough, smoke, talk or get tired, and plays brilliantly!!
Your videos would be much better if they weren't so long. You repeat yourself too much and you use too many words. Otherwise, the commentary is pretty nice.
The only thing I don't like about him playing deep blue is that there aren't any amazing memorable moves like the queen sack in the game of the century. I know that it's because it is basically two super computers going against each other. They're both amazing games, but that's just how I feel about it.
This game reminds me of a line from Star Trek, TNG, where Picard tells data that it is possible to make no mistakes, yet still lose. This is exactly what happened to Deep Blue. The AI made no real "mistakes" throughout the game, yet still lost.
Wow, what an amazing game by Kasparov. Beating a supercomputer in chess, that's something unbelievable, but i don't think that any chess player could beat Rybka nowadays.
Computers are stupid. They just do what we tell them and the fact that Kasparov manages to even get multiple wins on one game against Deep Blue is equivalent to Gary playing against every impressive players and a win was implausible.Controversy was inevitably going to happen.
@Mfunn when they play Kasparov they do :) Deep Blue actually had a team that "ran" the computer and they stepped in and waved the white flag. This is where a lot of the controversy came in the next year as Kasparov claimed the "team" was playing instead of the computer.
@thechesswebsite I never quite good why it would make a difference if they were cheating that way, shouldn't Kasparov be able to slay a team of computer engineers in his sleep? Like, he is the best player in the world, if he faced the team of dudes instead of the super computer that would be easier for him wouldn't it?
@Mfunn Fritz and many other modern chess engines resign.
It's actually a bit annoying because I never figured out how to turn it off.
If you're practicing endgames you like to play until the last move, not just until the computer decides he's lost; especially when you're not good enough to understand why. ^^
reti into kings indian... you'll never see that in todays top play yet gasparov would crush all of todays players, i think chess players need to stop relying so much on computers
@FockerTheLopper it happens all the time , so easily actually if c4 is play its reti and if e4 then kia and it started out qgd even with nf3 on move 1
@FockerTheLopper it was just used by svilder and he beat kramnick with it its still used and will be used for a LONg time computers arent always right, esepcially in the first couple of moves where as in the endgame theyre unbeatable. 1.nf3 honestly just turns into qg with a different move order, reiti , and are you saying the d4 is better than d4? it hasnt been proven yet in fact the opeing hasnt been figuered out completely quit mindlessy listening to what rybka says
Another point at 24:50, if black does not move his queen then it will be lost either to 1. Qh7+ Kf8 2. Qh8+ Ke7 3. Qxc8. If the black queen simply moves away to any other part of the board, white can follow through with the same inital two moves to clear the king out and make way for his passed h pawn, so black really had very little choice in moves here!
I know, but there is a point early on in the annotation where he is specifically referring to the queen herself and calling her him, I.E he (the queen) could occupy this square, he (the queen) watches over that square. Pedantic I know but I couldn't help noticing
@76HabeasCorpus Well since chess is pretty much a man's game, I think it's easier for him to address everthing, both player and pieces, as masculine by default
@justsshitsandgiggles If I remember correctly Kasparov played a pawn sack that he knew helped him and he knew the computer will take (they are grossly materialistic). Kasparov claimed that the operator of Deep Blue (The person who actually moved the pieces) saw that the pawn sack was bad and avoided it. Kasparov said that Deep Blue would have taken the pawn. He demanded that the analysis that Deep Blue had on that move, but they refused to show Deep Blue's Analysis. Thus starting controversy.
@16:38 - Is there something wrong with Deep Blue playing Ra6, trying to trap the queen? It seems to me that it is at least forcing a queen trade on b7 or a8 OR a trade of a rook and bishop for a queen. Perhaps the latter is undesirable as it leads to dynamic imbalances in the position?
I just love thsi videos.. but why do you take so long to upload them.. I know taht we all have things to do.. but you just kill me with the waiting D: <!! you are just so mean to me ):!

one thing I have seen on other sites I liked was a better board program. It had different colored arrows, like red showing all possible attacks, and showed all possible moves.

@oddball7342 great question. As a mere mortal it would be tough not to do exactly what you are talking about. Kasparov is a machine and saw an extended line where he thought he could gain two pawns instead of just one. That's why he's so great.
@thechesswebsite Yeah, there were a good 8-10 moves in there he could have arranged a queen trade and been up a pawn. I as well could not have even begun to resist. Amazing play, truly amazing...
@oddball7342 opposite colour bishop endings are almost allways drawn, and this is no exception. white is a pawn up after Queen trade and Bxf7, but his initiative is gone. Remember, with opposite colour bishops you should attack, especially with queens still on the board. i doubt kasparov has seen that deep in the position, he just followed this rule of keeping the pressure on
oh. nvm. yesturday he must of made a small error, before the rook took the other rook on b7, so when the queen retook it was in line with the white bishop. he must've fixed that.
