Lol...it's history now One singer giving his voice to another singer i don't think there is anyone who has done this before and even till now. Rafi gave his voice to all the comedians of Bollywood. Whereas KK fun songs were filmed on KK himself. why not make a playlist of this Rafi sings for KK it will be more easy to find all the songs at one go.

KK was never busy in acting.... he was not getting offers in singing... Late Ashok Kumar suggested him to act in films.... None of his films celebrated Silver Jubilee.

Well Kishore,Mukesh and Hemant were singers plus Music Directors,lyrcists,Producers-Rafi was only a singer. If Rafi was in acting then perhaps Kishore might have sung his playback.
Rafi Saab had classical training and thus had a very melodious voice which he had immense control over. Kishore Da was a mavereick and had myriad amount of talent. Both were terrific singers!
Ironically when the movie actually got released,ie, 1972- KK recorded 126 songs and rafi 34!!!! And out of that 34, one was contributed by Kishore only- this song!!!
The picturisation of this film began when Mumtaz was a junior artist and Kishore Kumar was not a big name i.e in the mid 60s hence Rafi singing for KK. Very few films were shot in bw in the 70s when Mumtaz became a top actress and KK became the top singer. The film was not completed until several years later and is partly shot in colour towards the end. You can see the difference in how the main stars i.e. Mumtaz, KK and Iftekar look both at the beginning and towards the end of this film.

I like Kishore alot but this is true , he had his limitations.. So far I dont' find anyone near Rafi.
I remmeber one interview of Mannaday. He got part of his training from his Uncle KCday. KC day was a music director too , he composed one tune and gave it to Rafi. Mannaday was disapointed because he wanted that song , but at the same time he respected his uncle choice.. this thing doesn't make Rafi better than Mannaday , but it surely makes him unique ..which he was and will remain so.
Rafi had a golden voice but luckly kishore got some good songs in 80's after Rafi's death. Although RD burban favor Kishore but director and producers still want Rafi voice in their movies. Voice quality wise after Rafi, kishore is the best.
Rafijee went for Hajj. So Kishorejee recorded the songs of Aradhana. Every song was hit. Rafi jee recorded only one song with Lata jee. After that Kishorejee's career as a playback singer took off. The rest is history.
Rafi has sung all the songs of Aradhana and both Mere Sapnoki rani and Roop tera mastana are still available in Rafi's voice with one gentleman by name Surinder dhall. If I get it I will put it on Youtube and also release a CD. It will be definitely better than Kishore. Copying a song which somebody else has already sung is easy.

All singers are good in their own style. Listen without prejudice. It is due to prejudice that Rafi got far too many songs to sing. This was unfair to other singers. This clip is the proof.
What prejudice? One could say the same about Kishore Kumar getting too many songs in the 70s. This song is the proof that Rafi is the best singer, and that kishore kuman wasn't suited for this song (even though he was a great singer in his own right).

All above 3 have used Kishore. They composed more songs from 50s and 60s era so of course they used Rafi more. rafi did not dominate for 20 years. That is not true my dear friend, some of these songs were actually too classical for Kishore to sing, not this one certainly. Sure Kishore is a legend in himself but not as accomplished a singer as Rafi or Manna Dey.
You're mistaken. The only truly "classical" song filmed on Kishore is 'chhed diye mere dil ke taar kyon' and it was sung not by Rafi or Manna but Amanat and Fateh Ali.
I guess you have not heard Man mora bawra from film Raagini sung for Kishore, it is certainly beyond a singer who doesnt have any classical background.

No, the real reason was this: OPN has a big ego & temper. Kishore came late to recordings so to punish him - he got Rafi. Kishore complained to Ashok (producer) but Ashok did not meddle with OPN. Kishore relented because he also loved and respcted Rafi very much. That was the reason - not because Kishore coulnd't sing this particular song. Rafi's voice suits even Kishore!
Shankar and Jaikishan recorded with Kishore but Kishore was green at the time and went off key - so they summoned Rafi. This had to do with singing but more so with the PREFERENCES of the MDs. SJ, Naushad, (and to some extent LP) demanded technical perfection, and even RDB admitted Rafi was best for that.
If u remember OPN did the same thing with Rafi. In one recording Rafi came late and after that OPN did not work with Rafi. he replace Rafi with Mahendra Kapoor. I am totally disagree with you that Rafi did justice to this song. Not at all. It seems like he is singing another song for Shammi kapoor/Joy mukharjee/vishwajeet.
OPNayyar came down with thud after his break off with Rafi ji and never regain his position. It was a biggest mistake of OPN. Mahendra Kapoor ke songs OPN ko le doobe.
That doesn't take away from Kishore's genius. However, Kishore was more limited than Rafi who was the most versatile of all. Rafi was on top for 4 different decades because of this alone - Kishore was not. Kishore resorted to acting because his talents were not in phase with the values of music in 50s and 60s and so he had to wait till 1969 before getting a BREKA (it was not his choice to wait -he HAD too).

I too am not a big fan of KK's movies (love his songs though) but I'm pretty sure he was very popular even in those days. Who can forget the songs of Dilli Ka Thug? Note that in no way am I trying to compare Rafi & Kishore. I don't think anyone can compare to Rafi as a singer but KK was a LEGENDARY GREAT in his own right.

Kishore Kumar was Mohammed Rafi's #1 fan. The 50s and 60s had high emphasis on classically based songs and so this was out of phase for KK's talents. The 70s came and a new era of music that was in phase with KK's genius and we saw what happened.

A true lover of music love both Rafi and KK and many others, after all they were different colors of rainbow. Rafi was exceptional. I love KK, Mukesh, some Manna Dey songs, some Talat ones, few of Mahendar Kapoor.

I like Kishore alot but this is true , he had his limitations.. So far I dont' find anyone near Rafi.
I remmeber one interview of Mannaday. He got part of his training from his Uncle KCday. KC day was a music director too , he composed one tune and gave it to Rafi. Mannaday was disapointed because he wanted that song , but at the same time he respected his uncle choice.. this thing doesn't make Rafi better than Mannaday , but it surely makes him unique ..which he was and will remain so.

Rafi had a golden voice but luckly kishore got some good songs in 80's after Rafi's death. Although RD burban favor Kishore but director and producers still want Rafi voice in their movies. Voice quality wise after Rafi, kishore is the best.

Rafijee went for Hajj. So Kishorejee recorded the songs of Aradhana. Every song was hit. Rafi jee recorded only one song with Lata jee. After that Kishorejee's career as a playback singer took off. The rest is history.

Rafi has sung all the songs of Aradhana and both Mere Sapnoki rani and Roop tera mastana are still available in Rafi's voice with one gentleman by name Surinder dhall. If I get it I will put it on Youtube and also release a CD. It will be definitely better than Kishore. Copying a song which somebody else has already sung is easy.

Possible reasons could be:
1. Kishore was not available to sing for himself.
2. Music director wanted to experiment.
3. Music director favored Rafi sahab thinking that he would do more justice to the song
4. Kishore might have declined to sing it in one of his "I am a crazy weirdo" moods

As egotistical as OPN was, he would later repeatedly say that his biggest career mistake was to have a rift with Rafi for several years. Rafi vs Manna? OPN said Rafi was incomparably superior! All above 3 have used Kishore. They composed more songs from 50s and 60s era so of course they used Rafi more. rafi did not dominate for 20 years. During those 20 years he was only one whose voice suits to Hero. Mukesh was very specific so as Manna Dey and Others, but when Kishore entered as full fledge singer rafi's chair shaked. I am sure u will not agree to it, but it is History and noone can change it.

You're mistaken. The only truly "classical" song filmed on Kishore is 'chhed diye mere dil ke taar kyon' and it was sung not by Rafi or Manna but Amanat and Fateh Ali.

Instead of arguing blindly, why don't you read up on why KK didn't sing the Ragini song. OPN has spoken about it in interviews. That KK was so busy with his acting career that on occasion someone else had to playback for him, isn't a matter of conjecture, but a simple historical fact. Your or mine believing/not believing it won't alter what was. Indeed, if you find the notion so incredible, how do you explain why KK didn't sing the song you've posted here? No, the real reason was this: OPN has a big ego & temper. Kishore came late to recordings so to punish him - he got Rafi. Kishore complained to Ashok (producer) but Ashok did not meddle with OPN. Kishore relented because he also loved and respcted Rafi very much. That was the reason - not because Kishore coulnd't sing this particular song. Rafi's voice suits even Kishore!

Shankar and Jaikishan recorded with Kishore but Kishore was green at the time and went off key - so they summoned Rafi. This had to do with singing but more so with the PREFERENCES of the MDs. SJ, Naushad, (and to some extent LP) demanded technical perfection, and even RDB admitted Rafi was best for that.

That doesn't take away from Kishore's genius. However, Kishore was more limited than Rafi who was the most versatile of all. Rafi was on top for 4 different decades because of this alone - Kishore was not. Kishore resorted to acting because his talents were not in phase with the values of music in 50s and 60s and so he had to wait till 1969 before getting a BREKA (it was not his choice to wait -he HAD too).

the singer, in the early part of his career(47-54)and that ,alongwith his brother Ashok, is what pushed him into acting. However, from about 1956 till about 1967, it was Kishore who refused to sing for anyone (except for the Burmans) despite

I too am not a big fan of KK's movies (love his songs though) but I'm pretty sure he was very popular even in those days. Who can forget the songs of Dilli Ka Thug? Note that in no way am I trying to compare Rafi & Kishore. I don't think anyone can compare to Rafi as a singer but KK was a LEGENDARY GREAT in his own right.

Kishore Kumar was Mohammed Rafi's #1 fan. The 50s and 60s had high emphasis on classically based songs and so this was out of phase for KK's talents. The 70s came and a new era of music that was in phase with KK's genius and we saw what happened.
