  • This interviewer is such a joke..."Is the press really that powerful?" If in his very own definition press = freedom of the people...is it powerful or not? What a dumb question....just look at FOX news and CNN brainwashing people and how many people actually fall for it...lol

  • rubbish jiang

  • The pre-requisites for the Chinese to move into democracy is being civilized and decent.

  • @sinongkim Right, the sub script under being civilized and decent is being slaves of the West. Allowing western/ american influence in your economy and have American military base set up on your soil. Sorry, I'd rather be wild.

  • He is not a Chinese president. He is called "leader" in China, that's all.

  • @justicelogic is leader a bad thing or good

  • @jerrywong0 It depends....could be good or bad....A "president" should be elected by a real democracy. But, the communist China is an autocracy. They call him "leader".

  • true, autocratic communist

  • util the last minute of my life...

  • Mike Wallace don't get it. Keep on harping on democraZy. Typical Americans.

  • This dictatorship CHINA is saving the world economy.

  • @lianxiang All the nouveaux riches states are under strict government control, like Japan, Taiwan,South Korea.

  • I find it difficult to see why Mike Wallace considers Jiang Zemin a dictator.

Unless the individual rules by decree ( and wields absolute control over the economy, education, courts, congress, military, and media.) then the word "dictator" is an exaggeration and like Jiang said " a mistake."

  • Wallace made himself look like a insolent monkey

  • Chinese president is always great.

  • @TianzeK He died recently

  • I'm going to have to agree the 230948209384 comments on here. Wallace was being a huge jerk on this. Jiang sure, is a great politician. He knows how to gaze over questions. Etc etc etc. But honestly, It doesn't make american politicians or any other politician better. Wallace puts America on such a high pedestal that it is incredibly unfair for ANY country to compete.

  • People are so easily swayed by 'great verbiage'. If Jiang Zemin spoke in America, I feel that people would elect him as a leader of our government. He is very similar to the politicians in America in that he grazes over a question but does not really answer it. I agree they should have chosen a different interviewer to pull the real issues out, not just aggressively but intelligently as well. And being a great politician doesn't mean your a great leader it only means your great giving speeches.

  • Wallace is a dork

  • jiang is right, americans are like the most arrogant bastard dogs around...they think everybody should accept their culture and way of living, if someone reluctant they will find a way to force it into them, just like invasion of iraq, vietnam, libya, afghanistan, korea....i bet violcence is the only way out for barbaric american dogs

  • @manchewl it's not the american people that are bad. international politics has always been and will continue to be an ugly thing. to put it in simple language you can understand, it's a free-for-all with rules made up by those with the biggest fists aka the US and its allies, everyone is fighting for scarce resources such as oil in the name of whatever just cause that seems convenient at the time. should china rise to superpower status, it would do exactly what the US is doing right now.

  • @ethusiasm you must be another dumbass, india is like the poorest country on earth, with many of them still starving to death on the street each minute..you are ignorant of what's happening around the world.

  • @Dramactica if he's a pig thn you are not worthy of living , east asian has the highest IQ in the world, i bet stupid american dogs like you is munching on shit.

  • @MediaKingJason it seems that you are a real BASTARD here...you are just another hypocrite who preach bout freedom of speech....ariel is just speaking his opinion, perhaps that's what to be expected from an australian or american monkey like you

  • He's very casual compared to western politicians.

  • jiang is a legal president of china.

he didnt put his son on the seat of the president of china.

jiang give the presidency, the military power, the party leadership away legally.

i dont see how a dictator can do this.

so this tell you americans that dont judge a person before you know him. because you are not our lords.

  • now i look back again this interview, i can say most of the words said by president jiang is true, chinese government did improved people's life standard. when the first time i see this interview 10 years ago, i didn't like the way jiang respond because he seems nervous.

p.s. the journalist has no manner by pointing his finger to a president, whatsoever, he is a legal president. when you waving your finger, you are waiving your dick.

  • since when do intellectuals in America serve in the army .... why the fuck is he giving him shit for that ....

  • @rvaughanwilliams1988 you would be surprised.

  • i think mike done a great job.............. and for jiang, serve him right

  • jiang was trying to find every excuse he could to play a game with mike, if things are like what he said that china is too big and has too many people to have the speech and media freedom, why are those successful in india which has similar size and population with china does?

  • @ethusiasm

India? successful? have you been there and look at their poeple, street and..river? lol

  • @nuketothesky i'm talking about running a democratic political system which guarantees speech and media freedom in a country. on that part, india IS more successful than china.

  • @ethusiasm i laughed my ass off, so you r saying it is ok for half a nation to live in slums and it's not ok for a country to limit speech on certain topics. India was independent and has a democratic system for ages, where does it stand in the world now economically? The priority to to feed the public, maintain a stable society and improve infrastructure. In achieving this, communist party in china made mistakes. But only ppl/party who dont make any mistakes r the ones who dont do anything

  • I am sure that Jiang want to kill him.......

  • good job mike . u treat him like shit. u r the best

  • fucking bastard china what ever u saying all is lier

  • fucking bastard china

  • @pemala777 fucker!who are you? I will fuck a Atomic bomb in your anus!

  • serve ur ass.......... jiang

  • good job MW

  • Mike Wallace, do you know it is rude to point at people? You do it repeatedly throughout the interview. It shows a lack of professionalism and a lack of respect, as well as a lack of impartiality that we expect from professional journalists. 60 minutes could have found a better interviewer, wallace doesn't deserve the job.

  • @porsche187 jiang should be executed for the tens of thousands or millions of people who have died because of him. He shall be haunted forever, Since tiananmen square massacre, despite the chinese untransparent economic growth, everything about china is deteriorating. I am devastated to eye my country going down a downslope

  • @porsche187 Jiang has pointed at him previously many times if you saw the entire interview, and Jiang is a dickhead dictator, look what he did to China during the 6.4. Mike may not deserve the job but i don't see you in working in 60 minutes as a journalist for decades, Dickhead. China will need freedom of speech, press not those communist propaganda, brainwash bullshit and internet censorship.

  • did this stupid wallace with all those good words in his mouth know a little bit about respect?

  • yea Jiang uses stupid excuses ,and the interviewer didnt learn enough to ask critical questions or responses....

  • fuck you motherfucker really stupid wallace

  • China has its problems, its far from a perfect place, but this reporter just destroys his own credibility with his nagging questions, his approach and his general demenour.

"I hope you will not send me off to...."

    Disgraceful journalism

  • Comment removed

  • Jiang is a great politician. this interview has changed my opinion about him. well done, President Jiang!

  • @arielhe indeed you know nothing about the history of China, how do you even have any kind of qualification or entitlement to comment that he is a good president. Jiang is one of the greatest dictator and by far the most crual and coldblooded murdurer. Under his incomparably lousy misleading, the country is now full of graft, corruption, the people are severely suffering and he's the driving force behind tiananmen square massacre
