hmm....well from the VIDEO, it seems like tarteel is the fast one, and tawjeed is the slower more melodic one

i don't think it's more melodic, just listen a recitation of Sheikh Al Afasy for example, you'll see, there is a beautiful melody and it changes all the time compared to the tajweed in which the style is almost the same in my opinion.

But if you listen a recitator like Ali Jaber, yes the tajweed seems more melodic because Ali Jaber use a constant melody, there is not many variations.

tajweed is your pronounciation, tarteel is to read slooowly and melodically.

@nulife799 dr mahmood is referring to the murattal style and the mujawwad style of recitation. murattal style is a faster paced style recited by imams such as sh. sudais, sh. ghamidy, etc ... the mujawwad style is a much slower style w/ more use of the maqamat ... mujawwad style is the style of sh. minshawi, sh. abdul basit, sh. mustafa ismail, etc. in both styles you have to recite w/ proper tajweed

maqam soba is one of the most easy maqam to recite...Sheikh Muhammad Al-Barrak always recite this maqam tartilan and Sheikh Abdul Basit also always recite this maqam tagwidan...like this maqam very much
