To answer a couple of questions about this, yes he is playing an Oboe D'Amore, its a different instrument. Even expensive oboes have a straight reed, its the lower members of the family that have a different shape. As for his ivory headed oboe, its a viennese styled oboe as far as i know, it gives a different sound to a normal french style
