his deliberate spelling mistakes were to deliver hint of homophonic substitutions in his codes. At least thats what I think. And i guess the remorse letter was a mean prank by the zodiac

I am curious...it seems that the pathologies of serial criminals are in many ways like those found in chronic alcoholics and drug addicts. Could you, in one of your future installments, comment on this idea?

"no 9" was probably meant number nine. it could also be what he called the negative force that controlls him to do his ritualistic acts of violence. just a theory. I think maybe He went to catholic school and was abused. or was home schooled by and abusive father. what if he did kill the lady in riverside as a person and then started killing as the zodiac to up the ante on the rush of killing, kind of a self imposed metmorphisis.

The manic laughter, the crazy eyes....Just wonder if you have any thoughts about that video and Tom Cruise. Would you say he is mentally ill?
I think Tom is not insane but his perception of reality that was been built up through his scientology beliefs is in danger of crashing down around him.
This makes him VERY defencive and fanatical about his beliefs.
Maybe deep down inside he has a feeling of dread that he has invested a lot of time, energy and money in something that simply is not true.

why wouldnt a personality like this take credit for Cheri Jo even if he had not done the murder? Isnt it more likely he did that murder but fears that is the one that might lead investigators to discover his identity? I think this is the zodiak speaking is like a team or a group-the zodiak. i say that cause i think these letters come from more than one person.

I agree that Cheri Jo Bates was not a Zodiac murder. My instincts have always been that Kathleen Johns was legit, a troubled Zodiac event, but Bates died at the hand of someone else.
Your sharing of your expertise is very kind and greatly appreciated. Albeit the case is true crime, your composite subject matter discussions help explain a lot of things wrong in our world. There should many more like you presiding over it.

I also don't believe much that he said in any of his letters. The only reason I believe anything he said was that he sent solid proof from the Stine murder. I wonder if that was the only murder he committed and the rest of his knowledge of the other murders simply came from the newspapers. I guess we will never know for sure. I hope he did commit suicide. Why else would he have stopped?
