I hate to bust all you city slickers ideas but after growing up in the country, all a small human is to predators is an easy meal. Nature isn't anything like Disney makes it out to be.
I think that an animal behaviorist who was not an elitist white scientist...and who actually grew up in that area might have a more useful opinion. They would not only have a better understanding of John, but would have far more experiential knowledge of these monkeys and their behaviors relating to the humans they encounter on a daily basis. Monkeys have individual personalities, and just like people are also influenced by the sum of their experience. It is arrogant to dismiss the possibility.
Lets pretend the little girl who felt down to the monkeys, if she had been among them for days would they have feed her and make sure she could get water? Its kind of interesting but very difficult to find out, or should i say merely impossible?
Clearly all natural adults whether animal or human are (except psychopaths) hardwired to respond to 'cubs' in an entirely different way than they would adult strangers or intruders. But it would take an expert or scientist 'not to know' that and a zoned out human population not to 'get it'. Give me a child to the age 7 and I'll give you the man. Please note the horror for all the children 'rescued' as a reflection of the insane caged existance we endure.
The problem with the argument between nature and nurture is that both sides are partially correct. Life's experience is what determines the way we become but genetics determines how we will respond to those life's experiences.

why dont they just get a new born monkey and live with it and see after a few years if it talks human language.?

@janjans143
most animals havent developed the vocal cords we have or have the possibility for understanding or developing complex speech.
Its easier for humans to relate to animals than the other way around

Down here we refer to children that hang out on street corners in gangs as "feral"
