I know this is an old song first recorded by, I think, Roy Acuff but as far as I am concerned, Ferlin's version is by far the most beautiful version out there.

I was friends with Ferlin in the last tens years or so of his life. he was a TRULY kind and decent man. I still miss him.

Written in 1945 by Fred Rose, first recorded by Roy Acuff, and later by Hank Williams, but Ferlin's version is the best!
