@785tt9gh Any DSLR on the market does not even come close to the quality of image of a camera that records native raw DNG image sequences. You would have to go with a real digital 35mm cinema camera to do that and of course this is much more expensive than an ACam. I love filming on Alexa which has a true 35mm film-style look, but it does not have the small form factor of this particular camera. Also the 35mm look is not always desirable or necessary. Just depends on what you filming.
@BoHoTheGoatSage - wouldn't be needed much. I got a chance to try one and the global shutter prevents wobble (CMOS DSLRs have). Jerkiness will obviously show up and the camera is very light but this means it is easy to use a Glidecam HD4000 or the newer XR4000.
Stunning skin tone. How are you liking the A-cam? Thinking of getting one because I have no use for 4k and HATE DSLR jello. Red Scarlet costs a ton when you add everything you need anyway. Love how small the A-cam is.
@JillAnderson - I like the form factor and the control over the image I have in post. The RAW file format is really great for dialing in whatever look you desire.
That's gorgeous! I wish I had the coloring chops to get that out of my dII. If you ever need a second dII for a shoot, let me know! I'm in San Jose, very happy to bring it down.
I'm curious what monitors - if any - you've had luck with. Seems to be one of the most finicky things about the camera.
@photodevoto Thanks! I didn't use any monitors as I didn't have the cable for HD-SDI. So all focus and framing was done through the viewfinder. Having the RAW helped as I could re-expose if needed. I will post a blog about the workflow that might give you some useful tips.
But, why would someone get a 16mm look when you can get a dslr that offers 35mm for a fraction of the price ?
