  • McCain brought up issues from two years ago, all he was talking about is the negative trying to make it look like President Obama is not trying to do anything. President Obama response was STOP talking about the known issue and lets debate and start coming up with the solution. Mr. McCain spent about 4:30min talking and not once gave an idea or opt for a solution. We can bash all day but where are those congressmen/women who are approaching him with a solution that will help the Americans ppl

  • the elections over RACIST HOE

  • mccain is a really smart guy lol

  • dont you love how Obama doesn't even answer the issues that McCain brought up?

  • @ymcadude123 obamas a dick dude he thinks mccain is stupid or something and restates that he lost the election when he was trying to make a point

  • @sk8erfreak9242 obama must be doing something right

  • Obama just showed how little he knows about the health care bill. He didn't even know enough to make a response.

  • @onefarmville Mccain showed he didnt wanna do NOTHING to get HC passed...He wanted to go over talking points

  • @onefarmville i agree with dat but he doesn't need to knw it all

  • @onefarmville I bet your a girl.

He didn't make a response because what Mccain was talking about was a waste of time darling. Thats why no one at the table came to his defense. Thats why obama made the rude comment. Everyone knows already that each state is different and will get different treatment. NY may get a bit more money in some areas than ND, get it? And everyone knows that small deals and provisions are part of politics.

he tried to play holier than thou. he was just being annoying.

  • politics......its all bs

  • @jmdolphin1 i bet your hispanic.

  • @jawzmuzik nope, as white as they come

  • I just noticed -- the person who posted this video is named "Socialist Liberal"!!!! They even have a little emblem with the phrase "Workers' Liberty." How apropos for this healthcare summit posting! Don't you just wish we could all timewarp ourselves to the Marxist-Leninist Russia of the 1920s? That's what we want for this country, isn't it? Let's get out the hammer and the sickle -- workers unite!!!

  • The PROBLEM with Capitalism: It requires CONSTANT growth, and growth= increased energy and resource consumption. THAT= self-destruction in the long-run. We could NEVER sustain the growth necessary to feed Capitalism. And our unwillingness to accept these realities are evidence of our collective immaturity.

varhamur seems to have the most realistic political view we have seen here.

  • @g4macdad

That is a myth. And if it were true, the same could be said of socialism or any other economic theory. All are susceptible to recession or economic downturns. "Our unwillingness to accept these realities are evidence of our collective immaturity"??? Really? This country has done quite well under capitalism for quite some time. There's no reason to believe it can't continue.

  • Does anyone know what socialism is?It is 100% govt control of everything: economy, healthcare, education, housing, etc.Republicans want small govt; Democrats want huge govt.Obama wants socialist govt. This isnt an inflammatory or controversial remark; it is indisputable fact. The only thing controversial is all you fools who were brainwashed by a smooth-talking snake charmer who intentionally kept his campaign as vague as possible for as long as possible to win ("hope" "change you can believe in")

  • Obviously you have no idea what socialism is.

  • @varhamur

Obviously! Please enlighten me - I dare you. Somehow, I have a feeling that you are the one who has no idea.

  • There is no complete take-over of "everything" - that's simply a fearmongering term that reveals your ignorance of political economy. Simply put, socialism is not communism nor is it totalitarianism. Socialism is government ensuring that its citizens have their basic needs met. This usually manifests in welfare programs (medical, retirement pensions, and care for disabled, etc) and worker/consumer protections. We already have some of this in our country but it's not any total takeover.

  • Furthermore, socialism is the counterweight to the negative effects of capitalism. It negates capitalism's destructive tendency because the very nature of capitalism is exploitative and leads to the concentration of wealth which is socially and economically destructive, as evidenced by our current economic crisis. Capitalism thrives in a hybrid socialist environment and ensures the well of our collective prosperity does not dry up.

  • @varhamur

You're schizo. First, you claim I'm fearmongering and misdefining socialism; then, you defend socialism. Which is it? Are you a socialist? And btw, there is virtually no distinction b/w communism and socialism in theory. It just so happens that, in practice, communism regimes tend to be dictatorial/totalitarianist. Obama is a socialist. There's nothing controversial about this. It's a simple fact.

  • @hourglass44

I'm schizo? Who is misdefining things? Where do you get your information about political economy anyway? This is my field of study so don't try to tell you've got some better definition. You mean to tell me that Sweden is communist? You know nothing of what you speak because you're too content to conflate unrelated things in order to put Obama down to fit a common erroneous characterization of him.

  • @varhamur

You still have not defined socialism. Please define the term, and don't define it by saying "it's not communism." Don't define it with a negative.

  • @hourglass44

Socialists generally share the view that capitalism unfairly concentrates power and wealth among a small segment of society that controls capital and derives its wealth through a system of exploitation.

  • @g4macdad

This is the prescriptive theory as to why socialism is better than capitalism (per the socialists), but it isn't necessarily true. The response is that the wealthy are the very ones who create small businesses, thereby creating jobs for the poor and middle classes. The history of this country has been that, when there have been no obstacles to small business growth, the overall economy (meaning everyone) benefits.

  • @hourglass44 WOW how surprising? A one-sided view.

So the workers have NOTHING to do with it huh?

If you REALLY wanted everyone to "benefit," you would not be so against the idea. BUSTED!

  • @hourglass44

EVERYONE knows this right-wing view. We hear about it and see it on TV, EVERY day.

YOU asked about socialism and got an answer.

Why would we need you to repeat Glenn Beck for us? WE KNOW (the BS) ALREADY! Jeez.

  • @g4macdad

I was getting caught up in this argument until it dawned on me. You guys have just proven my point! You support socialism, and I support capitalism. And, by the way, just in case anyone has forgotten -- this post is about healthcare. So, I can now extrapolate. Capitalists don't support healthcare. Socialists support healthcare. Socialists also suuport Democrats/Obama. I want this country to be capitalist; you want this country to be socialist. Thank you for proving my point.

  • @hourglass44

Nope! No one proved "your" point. YOU asked if he knew what socialism meant, and he gave you an excellent and CORRECT answer.

YOUR definition came from Glenn Beck and is HOGWASH.

So you can extrapolate at least one thing: Think for yourself and READ, or be shown to be a complete tool(like you).

  • A little testy, aren't we? That's usually a sign of embarrassment at being proven wrong. Go back and look at my initial post if you don't believe me. This whole conversation started with my claim that the healthcare plan and Obama's agenda, in general, represent socialism. You have unequivocally stated you support socialism, and you've denounced capitalism. Thus, you've proven my point. Not hard to see, really. You should just make your claim and stop, no need to throw a tantrum.

  • @hourglass44 why are you so afraid of a word? who gives a shit what it is... if something is better for people overall whats wrong with that policy? what does being socialist or capitalist have to do with anything?

  • @HeyltsAJ

This remark isn't even serious enough to respond to. I will say, however, that it is not the word "socialism" that scares me. It's the policies behind the word that I'm concerned about.

  • the professional media outlets are tampering with sound bites of this. I have watched several of "this" same vid and each time it is somewhat tampered at the point when Pres. Obama cuts him off telling McCain the election is over:-|?

  • Why did I support Obama during the elections?!

  • @KodaJosh098

Good question. I only hope that you and all the others who voted Democrat in 2008 have a change of heart in 2012, because I guarantee you that the snake-charmer will be in full force again hypnotizing the masses into believing he's the answer to all society's ills.

  • [S]ocialism can be put into practice only by methods which most socialists disapprove. F.A. Hayek, "The Road to Serfdom." A poignant quotation, considering that Obama, in 2006 and again in 2007, explicitly denounced the tactic of reconciliation to pass a bill ("a vote of 50 plus 1").

  • You Obama-ites are truly blind. In the campaign, Obama sold himself as a "transformative figure," a "politician of the future" who would "bring change to Washington." That is a FACT. He promised transparency, and specifically promised that the CSPAN cameras show the American people the healthcare reform process. What does he actually do? Backroom deals done in secret with all kinds of kickbacks and buyouts. Hell, he even nominated a House Democrat's brother for judgeship to bribe his vote.

  • McCain raises a VERY legitimate point, and Obama responds with haughty condescension. Why? He can't handle criticism. And you Obama-ites conveniently forget all he promised during the campaign and do nothing but rationalize, finger-point, and make excuses. He has no class, no tact, and no leadership. He's a glorified attorney, who was impulsively and foolishly promoted to a position he obviously can't handle. Can anyone say Jimmy Carter II?

  • "rationalize, finger-point and make excuses" sounds a lot like the mindless drones that gave you a thumbs down because they dont like what you said but cant really bring themselves to disagree with it... pure denial? its basically the equivalent of a small child putting his hands over his ears and going la la la i cant hear you!!

  • what a complete arrogant ass. the deflection of the topic couldnt be more obvious how just dusted off everything he said and ignored him completely. if people dont think this shows his true colors im scared.

  • 100% correct. Well said.

  • You watch the states get the bulk of the healthcare responsibility. With the states in the red already, how are they going to pay for their fair share? If this government takeover passes, I suspect food will be the new enemy of the people. Already, the politicians are talking about obesity, setting up for the next round of government takeovers. It wont end until they are out of office and rational people are voted in; if there is such a thing as a rational politician.

  • This was on C-Span3, not C-Span. How many more promises must you break Obama? HOW MANY MORE?!?!?!

  • LOL

Are you serious? Or is this a clever satire remark. hahha

Cspan is being open to ALL talks going on in Washington, which was what he promised. This was on CSPAN3 cnn msnbc fox so if you weren't kidding, grow a brain and flip through the channels, they're all right next to each other

  • Read it out loud. Does it sound serious?

  • hahaha fair enough, but you never know.. People still believe that Obama wasn't born in America..

  • @GibbyLOLSTFUPLEASE it only made it on to those stations when the poeple quite literally flipped out at the fact that he said they were going to air after promising they would be. he then backpeddled by saying okay fine well air the damn thing. so he did lie very plain and very simple

  • no.. they've always been streaming them. wtf.. note the thousands of videos on cspan website and on youtube..

  • they have been streaming all of them since its conception, maybe you didnt hear about this so let me enlighten you... obama tried to pull the old switcheroo on us and NOT air healthcare related meetings until the dude from cspan let the cat out of the bag and people flipped out so having his back againt the wall he decided to backpeddle AGAIN and air it afterall

  • Another issue; it is about time that Obama showed some backbone, he and the Dems have been cowling down to the Reps ever since 2009. I hope this is a turn in the strength and negotiations for both parties.

    STOP THE "SHOW BOATING!"

  • Hi All,

I think the issue is that there was agenda and time constraints. If everyone spent their time "showboating" about their respective issues; nothing would get done. Hence, we are at a stalemate.

I work in medical collections and I can tell you that people are suffering w/medical bills and do not have a CLUE about what insurance covers and the high deductibles and coinsurance - the AMERICAN PEOPLE need relief!

  • @scarlettepearl they absolutely need relief, this just isnt it unfortunately

  • Why is race involved in healthcare? Stay on point people, the issue is health care for all Americans. Tempers are flared on this issue and sides, both races. Do you realize some people keep jobs they hate just for healthcare? This could make you free to move about.

  • health care doesn't make people healthier it's been proven time and time again. let's educate people so the poor mother doesn't booze when she's pregnant. or tell the young souls to use condoms. spend the money somewhere else.

  • Seriously? Wow... I can't stand mccain, but he brought up a legitimate issue & the Prez got snippy---like all he heard was the first 30 seconds of McCain's five minute rant and it hurt his feelings so it was all he thought about until it was his turn to talk. hey Mr. President, you're supposed to listen, not just come up with the best retort you can to the first sentence you heard and then wait to deliver it. He comes across like a snotty 12 year old.

  • McCain did make a legitimate point but he did it in a very attack driven way. This was about healthcare and McCain didn't need to bring up campaign promises, because here is Obama delivering on that promise. If I had to deal with these idiots 24/7 I'd get a little snippy too.

  • It absolutely IS a relevant point to the healthcare summit, b/c the PROCESS is why so many Americans have a distaste towards Obama's bill (ie backroom horsetrading, kickbacks, and fuzzy math, no transparency or bi-partisanship, as was promised by Obama). The entire Republican argument is that the bill should be scrapped and start over, precisely because the process was so shady. The summit was the perfect venue for this discussion, it's just that Obama didn't want to address it, so he got smart.

  • McLame mumbled and bumbled that like he did his campaign.

President Obama called them out on all their lies again and all they did was sit there with the deer in the headlight stare.

  • Why are we still talking about government health care? When the PM of Canada has to come here for surgery, that kind of ends all debate on how good government health care is, and the condition of our health care system.

  • It was a minister, not the PM ... and how much does he get paid? More than I do and I bet more than you. Do your research, don't drink the Kool Aid.

  • "Let me just make this point... John" ..... "Sure Barry - Since we're on a first name basis here - go ahead and make your point Barry"

  • lol at mclaim

  • Am I imagining things or was McCain really once a respectable and relevant person of honor?

  • He was before 2004, or maybe only before 2000, I cant remember, but I know not in the last 4 years.

  • Thank You for the clarification because I thought I had finally caught the "republican revisionist history" bug.

  • This whole process is absurd both the Dems and the Repugs are disgusting. Medicare for all is the only real solution and neither party's leadership can move far enough away from their real masters corporate amerika. The guy speaking is a feeble old man who needs go and start grazing on cactus back in Arizona. Obama can go with him.

  • Actually mccain and the republicans just need to stfu (and go straight to jail for these tactics that rape further this great land that they have already destroyed) and let people do their job.

  • I don't know what stfu means but I agree that there are a lot of politicians who should go to jail many on this program and others like Cheney and Bush. We need to end the rapacious legal fiction of corporate personhood to be able to turn things around, like health care. Medicare for all. These fat white jokers sitting at this table all have great health care but corporate amerika says no and these hacks say okay boss.
