This is actually extremely useful for me as I'm learning the tune too. THanks so much for posting!!!!! I can't read music and don't like tab so I learn from videos like yours, nice and slow. THanks!!!!
Nice job and keep playing. I'm sure you will get better with time. I just started playing and am mostly concentrating on correct technique for now before I really start trying to play anything.
GJ: You are sounding good, just find some OT jammers to play with and practice the tunes and you'll do ok. Great you have a violin teacher. Keep up the good work!
Hello. I've been playing violin for almost four years now, but I'd rather call it a fiddle. I just learned this song, and I love it so much. I learned a different version of the Red Haired Boy, but that's okay. I like this version too. You have good intonation for a beginner. Just be confident and it'll turn out great. Trust me. And you sound like you'll catch on pretty quick to violin. Starting out is always interesting. (trust me, I'm not sure I want to remember how I sounded when I started)
Hello there granniejans! Thank you for leaving a comment on our channel. Our mom left the first comment on your video here, but my sister and I completely agree on what she said. Keep it up! You sound really good, and like our mom said, you have the gift of a good ear, which can be very helpful when learning to play the fiddle. God Bless!
Hi there! Just wanted to let you know that you're doing great!!! I know because my daughter has been playing the fiddle for just over a year and a half, and it can be a tricky instrument. She actually picked it up pretty quickly, and it sounds like you are too. You definitely have the gift of a good ear. Your notes were true, and as you know, that can be hard with no frets!!!!! Anyhow, keep it up - you're gonna make an excellent fiddle player! By he way, I LOVE Red Haired Boy!!!
Hahaha, ain't that funny, I just read the other comments, and I kind already left a comment here a while ago, saying pretty much the very same thing! Sorry for being repetitive, I had no idea, my memory kinda sucks a little. All that whiskey gotta catch up to you sooner or later! Well, I stick with what I said, which resuming it to a short sentence would be: git-r done, granniejans!
Your ole fan, MSfeller here. Well dear, like I said, only time and practice, needless to say that you have what it takes to become a female version Charlie Daniels. I will go down the same road one day. I have plans to learn that banjo and not satisfied, I will get me a fiddle and try my luck too. If it works for the banjo, it shall work for the fiddle too.
Thank you! I'm really loving the fiddle playing. It's nice to think that other people are listening past the scritchy scratchy to think there might be a decent player in there, somewhere. Much appreciation!
I think you will get there, you're playing good for a beginner! Soon you will be a guitar and fiddle expert, at the same time! One woman band! I wanna learn fiddle when I dominate the banjo, in a distant future.

Hey Lookie there!!! I wouldn't skip this, we all have to start somewhere. I know I did....heck I still sound like fingernails scratching on the blackboard. Great Job Jannie!

@Sylvain894 At the time it was new and polished clean. It's just a cheap-o $60 instrument - someday, I'll get a better one :) Thanks for visiting!

It's a great start. I keep thinking I'll do it....but doubt I have the coordination for fiddlin'.

Just do it... the strings and tuning are the same as the mandolin. You already have a better start than I did!
