  • @Sylvain894 At the time it was new and polished clean. It's just a cheap-o $60 instrument - someday, I'll get a better one :) Thanks for visiting!

  • for a begginer in fiddlng is Awsome! keep up teh good work

  • I would like to hear how you sound playing this song now. Bet you have improved tremendously!

  • Nice job and keep playing. I'm sure you will get better with time. I just started playing and am mostly concentrating on correct technique for now before I really start trying to play anything.

  • try fixing your bowhold it'll help!! nice job.

  • Keep up the good work!

  • GOOD for you!!,,not like fingernails,,i remember when i first started,,lol,,so,keep on fiddling,,i too fiddle,good job~~~~~!!!!!!!

  • GJ: You are sounding good, just find some OT jammers to play with and practice the tunes and you'll do ok. Great you have a violin teacher. Keep up the good work!

  • Hello. I've been playing violin for almost four years now, but I'd rather call it a fiddle. I just learned this song, and I love it so much. I learned a different version of the Red Haired Boy, but that's okay. I like this version too. You have good intonation for a beginner. Just be confident and it'll turn out great. Trust me. And you sound like you'll catch on pretty quick to violin. Starting out is always interesting. (trust me, I'm not sure I want to remember how I sounded when I started)

  • Hello there granniejans! Thank you for leaving a comment on our channel. Our mom left the first comment on your video here, but my sister and I completely agree on what she said. Keep it up! You sound really good, and like our mom said, you have the gift of a good ear, which can be very helpful when learning to play the fiddle. God Bless!

  • Hi there! Just wanted to let you know that you're doing great!!! I know because my daughter has been playing the fiddle for just over a year and a half, and it can be a tricky instrument. She actually picked it up pretty quickly, and it sounds like you are too. You definitely have the gift of a good ear. Your notes were true, and as you know, that can be hard with no frets!!!!! Anyhow, keep it up - you're gonna make an excellent fiddle player! By he way, I LOVE Red Haired Boy!!!

  • Thank you so much! My violin teacher just taught me this song and told me to work on musicality, and i only got it thanks to you! Awesome by the way!

  • I love your video, keep posting, it was really helpful to me as I am just learning too.

  • Thank you, dearie

  • Aw... thank ya, hon. I'm pretty sure everyone sounds pretty much the same when they start! Blessings

  • nice job.. and don't worry i sounded pretty much the same, maybe even worse when i learned to play

  • Hahaha, ain't that funny, I just read the other comments, and I kind already left a comment here a while ago, saying pretty much the very same thing! Sorry for being repetitive, I had no idea, my memory kinda sucks a little. All that whiskey gotta catch up to you sooner or later! Well, I stick with what I said, which resuming it to a short sentence would be: git-r done, granniejans!

  • Your ole fan, MSfeller here. Well dear, like I said, only time and practice, needless to say that you have what it takes to become a female version Charlie Daniels. I will go down the same road one day. I have plans to learn that banjo and not satisfied, I will get me a fiddle and try my luck too. If it works for the banjo, it shall work for the fiddle too.

  • play, play, play some more! good beginning.

  • Thank you! I'm really loving the fiddle playing. It's nice to think that other people are listening past the scritchy scratchy to think there might be a decent player in there, somewhere. Much appreciation!

  • Good job! Keep on playing and sharing your videos!

  • Muchas gracias!

  • I think you will get there, you're playing good for a beginner! Soon you will be a guitar and fiddle expert, at the same time! One woman band! I wanna learn fiddle when I dominate the banjo, in a distant future.

Everything is possible with dedication and hard training. You never know till you try and persevere!

  • It's a great start. I keep thinking I'll do it....but doubt I have the coordination for fiddlin'.

  • Just do it... the strings and tuning are the same as the mandolin. You already have a better start than I did!

  • Hey Lookie there!!! I wouldn't skip this, we all have to start somewhere. I know I did....heck I still sound like fingernails scratching on the blackboard. Great Job Jannie!

  • Clearly your able to do this Jan! Tell me about your experience in learning the fiddle...hard? different? I am really interested in trying it myself.
