The battle is going quite well.. the Dollet troops dont really stand a chance, and victory is almost secured.

Then.. all of a sudden.. 3-10 armoured warships crash through the harbor.. landing on the beach.. and a whole unit of the baddest Mercenarys in the world, runs out of the vessels, and start kicking your ass...

In my opinion, Squall was not the hero. He was the placeholder. The true heroes, defining people of FF8, were Laguna Loire and Seifer Almasy. One of the best ? Definitively no. The most logical for me is the Elder Scroll system (attack > strength, magic > spirit, run > speed...). In FF saga, the bests are for me, between FF4 and FF9, alternative jobs of FF5, materias of FF7 and jobs + magikolithes of FF9. Spending 50% of the time stealing magic, even using the items transformations abilities, is not fun for me...

This game is so fun and I love it. It's my favorite Final Fantasy game I think. I played FFX first out of all of them, then FFIV, then this but something about FF8 that really draws me in. The way they do the cutscenes so well even when it was harder to do them back then might be one of the reasons. That, and the characters and music. Watts (stomach-ache guy), Rinoa, Zell, Selphie, and Leon are some of my favorite characters :)
