  • This track is a delight to my ears...

  • Great classic song! Thanks for posting! maurice

  • brilliant track, yes it was 66 i can still remember it being released, they put 3 out here in the U K it was october/november " come round here ", " i'm ready for love", martha, and brenda holloway, "just look what you have done", i fell in love with all three, ha ha , dalkey ? you really are a mine of information, many, many thanks for posting this top tune from the miracles, listening to this has kinda been like going back there, regards dave

  • Smokey evokes his inner Levi Stubbs (this sounds as if it H-D-H initially intended it for the Four Tops). Great record, one of the Miracles' most underrated.

  • Saturday night in Mnachester sucks. This is fantastic. What an intro !!!

  • Jamerson.

  • i am falling in love all over with smokey. when i was growing up all of the kids were listening to the temps, but i as in love with smokey. his voice has stood the test of time and he is still hot

  • NOBODY'S GOT IT LIKE SMOKEY I LOVE THIS SONG! The Jackson 5 made it sound great as well I love them to.

  • Great song still sounds fresh today !

  • do you have the instrumental version?

  • MORE SONGS in the GRAMMY HALL of FAME than ANY OTHER MOTOWN GROUP !!! SMOKEY ROBINSON, BOBBY RODGERS, CLAUDETTE ROBINSON,RONNIE WHITE, PETE MOORE, and MARV TARPLIN...The Mighty MIRACLES !!!

  • This is just wonderful and like all good Motown so rich and full and the world is a far better place for it. I love my soul music and these great tracks just make me melt. Motown is just timeless,

"They dont write 'em like this anymore"...No Sir, they sure don't...

  • Brilliant!

  • One of the most thrilling Motown productions; the intro can stand alone as a great record! And then comes the fabulous song and arrangement. Wow!

  • I just love his voice

  • The production is unmistakenly Motown- unmistakenly H-D-H.

  • this is the best holland dozier holland song. why is this never on the radio???

  • This is the first Motown record I ever bought - from then on, I was a Motown man, and a Miracles man.

  • @soulmziklova ....and Claudette Robinson and Marv Tarplin !!

  • perfect in every way...tune, groove, lyrics. "..the days the days you sit alone by yourself, he's out foolin around with somebody else..." oh smokey! i was 16 and i adored you.

  • Listen to the heavenly harmony at 1:28 WOW

  • could you please put up the miracles version of got to be there? please?????????

  • absolutely bad ass song. may be their best ever. good memories.

  • used to play the intro over and over

    pure class

  • This is maybe the most underrated Miracles song. It's so compulsive, I can't do anything when hearing this song.

  • I remember this didn't become a hit in Europe.

And it was my very favourite song for so long!!

    Unbelievable ...

  • @Talleyrandful Of course it was a hit in Europe. It was a Top 20 hit in England, but not until February 1971, when it peaked at number 13.

  • @williamg2552 Hmm I remember the song only from January 1967 and missed that in 1971, probably because we had lost the pirate stations by then. The English charts got less exposure here in The Netherlands after that happened. But anyway 13 is also way too low!

  • @williamg2552 Even though many Tamla-Motown groups were quite popular in Europe, especially Northern Europe, and in particular in the UK and the Netherlands (though the Supremes were popular EVERYWHERE), usually they charted lower in Europe than in the US, Canada, New Zealand, and East Asia...

  • This song came from H-D-H's "classic" period, when songs like "Bernadette", "Standing in the Shadows of Love", "Reach Out, I'll Be There", and "Love Is Here and Now You're Gone" were written...Another of my favorite Miracles performances!!

  • MORE SONGS inducted into THE GRAMMY HALL OF FAME than ANY other Motown group !!!

    THE MIRACLES RULE !!!

  • > MASTERPIECE > PRICELESS <

  • Straight to my soul! Thank You. (Yesterday..leave me alone!).

  • Unquestionably one of the most beautiful pieces of music to come from that wonderful era of incredible music...!!!

Thank you for placing this gem for us to hear...!!!

  • Come 'Round Here!!! From the sidewalks of South Central, Detroit, Chicago & New York! This is how we did it, summer evenings and the Miracles! Thanks Smokey and thank you Barry!!!!

  • @wedge4hire and Cleveland, Smokey was the best and he should do more of his own songs with the Miracles on his shows now.

  • @cassieann1000 My bad!! Can't leave out the great city of Cleveland, Ohio!!

  • @cassieann1000 I agree ! He has an entire section of his shows devoted to songs he (and the other Miracles) wrote for The Temptations. If I wanted to hear Temptations songs, I'd go to a Temptations show !! I'd rather hear songs he recorded with his OWN group....THE MIRACLES....like THIS SONG, or I LIKE IT LIKE THAT, JUST A MIRAGE, FORK IN THE ROAD,MICKEY'S MONKEY, I'LL TRY SOMETHING NEW, or WHAT'S SO GOOD ABOUT GOODBYE.

  • @wedge4hire ...and thanks to BOBBY,CLAUDETTE, RONNIE, PETE and MARV !!

  • This song kills. It is hands down my favorite Smokey/Miracles song; I was 13 when it came out and it rearranged my molecules even then. A masterpiece. Thanks for sharing it.

  • This tune was released by Motown on October 19, 1966 and it peaked at #17 on the Billboard Hot 100 in December of 1966-

  • WOULD LOVE to have this tune as an instrumental (hint, hint, hint)

  • Me and my brother used to sing this around the house soooo many memories!!!!

  • Did smokey sing this or WHATTTT!!!!!!!!!!

  • this was one bad mother! the fellas i hung with back in the day absolutely dug this one.

  • please listen to michael jackson sing this song BEAUTIFUL

  • This is by far my favorite Smokey Robinson and the Miracles song. It brings me back to the time I spent at the Wayside Inn in Glen Cove, New York in the late 1960`s. Those truly were the days.

  • thank you SO MUCH for sharing. This is one of my top 3 smokey songs. I hadn't heard it for so long, it dam near , well it did actually....give me goosebumps. thanks again

  • The Funk Brothers were standing in the shadows of Motown. They were the unsung heroes behind all of Motown songs. Tributes to the Funk Bros. Tight!

  • Holland-Dozier-Holland were true geniuses to come up with this gem for Smokey and the Miracles!!

  • Love it! I'm a such an old school head

  • I love Smoky and his eyes (he still looks amazing), but I have to give this to 11 yr. old Michael.

  • WINNING!!!

  • I love this song, but Michael Jackson took it to another level at such a young age, in my opinion. Motown lives forever!

  • The MIRACLES already HAVE a girl in their group. Who needs Diana ? I would rather have heard SMOKEY and CLAUDETTE share the lead on this song , with Bobby Ron and Pete on backup vocals.

    Other groups may be COOL...

    BUT THE MIRACLES RULE !!

  • Damn! I tried to hit the pause button really quickly (to let the video load) and I accidently rated this one star!

It is an easy 5 for the record....

  • I love Smokey's vocal on this . . . I would have loved to have heard Diana and Smokey sing this together, how they caress a word, and at the end of it take that note to a "dip" . . . thanks for the share.

  • Jackson 5 also did this - and a young Michael TORE IT UP! I love the J5 version.

  • I second that! But this version is also cool, after all, it's these guys who Michael learnt off. Though when Michael does his magic on a song, no-one else can touch it!

  • Vintage Smokey.

  • I thought this song had a Holland/Dozier/Holland flavor to it that made it different from other Smokey classics! It would have been interesting if the Supremes did this with the Miracles. Excellent song!

  • That's because HDH wrote it!

  • I thought I made that point. HDH had a distinctive signature to their song-writing style and when I first heard it, I thought "This sounds like a Supremes song performed by MEN instead of WOMEN. Weird!" It grew on me over time of course but what can I say? I was a dumb kid who didn't know better! Now I do and I still think that this would have been an excellent Supremes/Miracles collaboration song ala the Supremes/Temptations "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me" masterpiece.

  • Good trivia there in the info. Thanks for posting and for the knowledge.

  • Great track-Some of HDH's 'REach Out' tension..Very cool..Thanks for posting..:)

  • I love his vocal style on this . . . I always wished Smokey and Diana had recorded a duet . . . a remake of Oh, Baby Baby would have kicked it to the curb!!

  • One of my favorite Miracle records. This one is totally great. Thanks for the post.

  • I got half my game from Smokey: the verbal rapability part.

Anytime I needed some good sh*t to talk, I would just think of some of this kind of sh*t that Smokey is spittin' on this record.

If I did the same thing with today's music I'd be telling women, "You better get wit' me and my blinged out material things or I'm go'n bust you upside the head."

Man! In the 'good old days' it was all about having 'Game'.

Where did game and conversation go?

Fu*k big rims and loud music.

    Lame ass sh*t.

  • Haha, remember when rap was "What's your sign"? Smokey was and still is The Man.

  • Boy, what a great song and a spectacular group. Thanks for putting this up! =)

  • One of Smokey's great songs that really touched my past. Thanks for posting this really awesome song.

  • Superb! Thanks so much, my friend...
