  • I like that steam whistle sound when it fires.

  • We call this artillery..

But a nuke is a normal bomb in Russia so..

  • A mortar is portable, this far from portable. The time it takes you to set it up a sniper or a small 4 man team can take all of it out.

  • @Truklodyte a sniper from a distance of 10 kilometers? the concept of this system is to provide massive destruction capability particularly against reinforced shelters or in mountains at a distances not covered by other systems. actually at the ranges where Tulpan is deployed the only alternative is air force, which is much more expensive and dependent on weather conditions. Tulpan set up time is around 3-5 minutes, and it normally leaves the position before its projectiles reach the target.

  • can put 240mm nuclear mins 20km away :-))))

  • Deutschland hat für sowas die PzH2000. Effektiver und schneller Einsatzbereit. Naja Russland war noch nie so modern.

  • DEATH FROM THE SKY

  • The Japanese used "the screaming Jesus" 320mm spigot mortar against the Marines on Iwo in WW2. They fired them in barrages as opposed to one shot at a time.

  • Lol, this isn't a mortar anymore this is just artillery...

  • @tjokpot no because a mortar fires at an almost vertical angle artillery dosent do that

  • @KLUTCHxSPARTAN look at the size, definetly artillery..

  • @tjokpot size dosent matter the british 1pounder was artillery and it was as big as a wheel barrow

  • Sám sloužím jako mířič u minometu,ovšem tohle je opravdu královské monstrum,rád bych si s tím zastřílel.U nás v bývalém Československu jsme měli pouze 4 kusy této zbraně.

  • super info....

  • Yes but also if you notice mortar rounds can larger for the same weight.

  • Whats the point of making a Mortar that big when you have Howitzers ?? You cant even Move it fast enough...

  • @sapzapgr its the angle at which it hits, it goes Cannon, howitzer, mortar.

they all have increasing arcs. if you notice the angle they are shooting the mortars in this movie are almost vertical

  • @Vexman2200 True that means tho that each of them has DEcreasing range ? I mean mortar is the shortest in range of those 3 right ?

  • That´s nice to have in your arsenal, but pretty useless when you can place 120mm mortars in the back of an APC.

  • But can it blend?

  • In soviet russia, things happen the other way around, like ALL the time.

  • The archer is better :)

  • wat?

  • too slow... when troops call in mortar they want it quickly, not 5 minutes later.

  • I dont understand a word but this mortar looks fucking good XD

  • @kroq2

It might look good, but as most Soviet designs it's maintenance sometimes is almost a nightmare.

As a man who served on one of those things said - he wanted to see that asshole who designed aiming device and kick him a the groin (that shit always tries to snap fingers off).

  • Would have been a real trench buster...in 1914...

  • ihr köönt mir ja sagen was ihr wollt aber das ding braucht viel zu lange zum aufbauen, schaut euch mal die panzerhaubitze 2000 an !!!!!!

  • Bad ass!

  • I thought the German train motars were the heaviest, Thor is a bloody big thing.

  • This is what happend if it hits your head. /watch?v=7uQEgjSG_go&skipcontrinter=1

    not funny...

  • I don't understand why use mortar, if you have self propelled artillery. I may be wrong but it seems to be a waste of time.

  • In USA when you turn 16 you get a car, In russia you get Assault rifle and Mortars.

  • @GerrettJihad

    not now ( sad

  • GEEZUS!!!!! That is a big f@&king mortar

  • ITS STILL SHIT

  • too bad the Irish didn't have a few of these in the 80s

  • i know what i want from santa

  • So this is mightier than the Mörser "Karl"?

  • tulpan is swedish, i think, clarify please.

  • A mortar is supposed to be able to rain down death quickly. This is more like a very slow to load self propelled artillery. Sure it's high angle but not a very practical weapons platform.

  • no one can take mother russia

  • blokow ashtoba bulishka shilisken they talk funny:)

  • too bad its outdated. NNNEEXXXXTT!

  • @RaptorDiablo For retards who hate Russia and drool shit like: "It's OLD, It's rusty, it's outdated!":

This TV program DOES NOT have the goal of showing the latest and/or best examples of russian military technology! It just shows you, dumb retards, a mobile mortar system developed in fucking 1967(!), when your 3d world country could not even dream about it!))

So shut up Russia-hating faggots and enjoy the video about an OLD, but still better weapon than all your shitty countries COMBINED!)) LOL

  • @Travmapunk Ha! your funny! stop acting like you guys dont still use these! and by the way, my country uses these: /watch?v=x7fj97-UckI

    :).

  • @RaptorDiablo Wow! I didn't know i was acting?)) And i sure didn't know acting was possible through comments on YT!!! LOL)

But, anywhoe, fuckface, could you, please, kindly indicate the exact part of my message, where i'm stating, or at least insinuating, the fact that Russian Ministry of Defense denied further exploitation of MMS "Tulpan?"

    Thank you very bitch)

    Wait for you reply anxiously!!!

    Best regards))

  • u shuda shot it right when the camera man looked in

  • so what happens when it misfires

  • its not the heaviest , the "little david" was bigger (960mm)

  • Il sogno di ogni mortaista

  • germans made a bigger one

  • @bearsfan97 an we´re talking about mortars , not guns

  • @Dreadnought53 they built the Mörser Karl a 600mm mortar

  • Fucking ugly, like everything else from russia :P

  • Wow, this is really obsolete. Slow ROF, minimalistic accuracy, an incredibly large crew, dangerous handling of individual munitions parts (I counted 3 parts that have to be assembled) and considerably small range. Sure, they had fun with this wrecking grosny or scaring some gerorgians... but in any real war, this would be pure junk.

  • @TheSocius Seeing as this thing was blowing up Mujahideen strongpoints and fortifications located in caves and terrain folds that howitzers could not hit I'd say this thing is pretty damn accurate and no where near is the a 5 men crew an "incredibly large crew" and no where in the vid did they handle the ammo with danger and for your info most arty ammo has the fuze, the propellant and the primer removed during transportation, peace time, etc for safety reasons.

  • @darkon112 set the crew size, accuracy, ordonance and handling process into relation. Whenever you look at multiple missle systems, automated mortars or modern ballistic systems, you see how obsolete this is. Using this thing in a modern conflict is like using a frontloader musket in an modern firefight. Sure it kills, sure it is accurate within its range, but any weapon is faster, lighterand easier to handle than the musket.

Heavy mortars with manual loading and dumb ammo are relics of the WW2

  • @TheSocius Again the crew isn't big, the accuracy is superb and the fact that it's loaded manually instead of some autoloader doesn't mean it's outdated. Especially since most artillery piece's are still loaded manually today. This thing was designed to destroy dug in or fortified hard to reach positions with accuracy and devastating fire power. And FYI it has laser-guided rounds.

  • Panzerhaubitze 2000 owned des ding trozdem !

  • Fiiiiiiiiire........BOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!

  • In Soviet Russia mortar fires you !

  • Little David was 940mm

  • not the biggest. perhaps the biggest mobile mortar, but I believe the biggest was a 36 caliber, not .36 caliber, that is 36 inch diameter. Still the Tulpan is quite impressive.

  • a lot of people here saying that this thing is slow and can be easily taken out and destroyed. But the russians aren't stupid, there are other support vehicles like BMP's and tanks around to protect them, they travel in regiments, and a lot of these mortars firing several rounds with cluster shells can devastate a large area in a matter of minutes. This weapon has a good record in combat.

  • @bombarderoazul BMP's doesn't help if mortars that are out of view and behind a ridge are firing at them

  • @bombarderoazul In a combat against unarmed civilians I suppose.

  • @TheNovaAxon according to the video it was used against taliban fighters hiding in caves in afghanistan, where the mortar was able to penetrate and destroy them from high angles and also in chechnya against rebels holding out at a oil refinery, you can see video of it at 5:25 .It's possible that civilians were hurt as well, since these were not regular military, but uniformed muslim rebels, this goes for anybody not just Russia, even the US has killed many civilians in previous wars.

  • lump of junk far too slow in modern warfare

  • English Please dumb ass's

  • @NiteAngel russian please, smart asses!

  • America's "Little David" mortar is 914mm. This is hardly the biggest.

  • @TheMohawkNinja True, but this is the biggest mortar which has been used and continues to be used in combat effectively.

The Little David was huge, but it was not ever used for its intended purpose of bombarding Japanese bunkers. The Tulpan has seen service in Afghanistan and Chechnya (probably Georgia too) with good effect.

  • fires nuclear mines

  • space fan..it's the up and over shot that they want and not the flat out cannon shot.

  • In Mother Russia....You Mortar First Ask Questions Never!!!

  • @chronic1284 dude its soviet russia...but i liked da chronic?

  • PAHffffwunnnnnng

  • ich das kaben den lend ich mes

  • Super low rate of fire

  • still no match for supernova

  • Compared to an automaticly loaded artillery system these ones looks very unsafe for their crew. I mean imagine them picking up the biggest piece this mortar can fire under enemy fire..! Drop that shit and u will have to ask grandma to send a new couple of boots. That and a new body as well...

  • damn mother russia, you scary...

  • @KamakazeeFatty u made my day lol

  • @TheJimcat hahaha I don't even know what made me say it. It just popped into my head and I was like yessssss!

  • Looks very tedious to operate... Anyone know the ROF on this thing?

  • @TheTomyossarian yeas, its pretty difficult. and its 1 rpm

  • @TheTomyossarian range - up to 10 km

  • @Wingard14 Considering normal HE rounds it is indeed too slow. 1 round per minute. Despite it is a heavy round.

But with use of specialized rounds it becomes perfect weapon. Battery of 4 "Tulips" with one salvo of cluster munitions can cover landing area equal to 16 football fields with HE-FRAGS. It is perfect to defend shores and islands.

Use of self-correcting round "Smelchak" was successful in Afghanistan and in Chechnya.

    Tactical nukes speak for themselves!

  • /watch?v=q21YF3ttn1c - The same video with English subtitles

  • Dear Santa....

  • but will this keep the children of my lawn?

  • they shoot frigin torpedo's

  • @loing Speaker-over says that this system is capable of firing nuclear mines at a distance of 18 km. As well as this self-propelled mortar is able to effectively destroy the enemy's well-protected facilities including in urban combat. Speaker said that this system has an accuracy of a sniper. Diameter of mine about 240 mm. Weight fragmentation mines 130 kg. Weight 32 kg explosive charge. Fuse is installed in the immediate and delayed action. At the maximum charge mine flies to 10 - 9 km.

  • Comment removed

  • @loing The aim is illuminated by a laser beam at the final stage of the trajectory. Backlighting time is not very large. These mortars were used in Afghanistan and Chechnya. Typically, soldiers learn this technique in the training units and military units. Caliber 240 mm mortar rounds. Self-propelled mortar has a high cross on the terrain and protection from radio-active contamination. It is installed on the chassis crawler-layers and has the properties of the tank.

  • @Imprudentman thx for the info ;)

  • certainly would pound enemy targets but too slow to load and far too visible to aircraft, but probably built well.

  • stupid way to spend money...

  • @Diamondwater73 Stupid way to spend money is what US Congress and brasshats did since 1995. In 15 years they spent 32 billion(!) dollars of US taxpayers on canceled projects. 32 freaking billions!

  • @Diamondwater73 Despite it is already 40years old it remains quite modern even in our days. Its guided-rounds "Smelchak" were perfect in Afghanistan and in Chechnya.

  • 2:42 Really cool head

  • Artillery is the god of war, no matter how "outdated" it may appear, it is STILL the most dangerous weapon on the field. Cheap, effective and available in large numbers :)

  • russians are bostfull pussies!!! its looks like to old

  • @90magor It is 40years old already. But still modern even by today's standards, little pathetic russophobe! :)

The biggest mortar caliber in NATO countries is 120mm. Half of "Tulip's" caliber.

  • @BitnikGr but this is old.... and looks like regular artilery not mortar..... yes Im russophobe of russians fanatics!!!! but I think normal non-boastful russians are amazing and interresting people..... you NATOphobe!!!

  • @90magor I am not a NATOphobe. My country is in NATO.

It is indeed old, but its specs remain modern even today. Especially if it uses specialized munitions, like cluster ones with HE-FRAG elements, like self-guiding "Smelchak" or like tactical nukes. It is a mortar, because it works like a mortar. It is one of very few, which loads ammo from the back, instead of the front.

  • shit is awesome although remember the guns aint everything in vietnam americans lost even with all these guns

  • too slow

  • @wazham2 you have no idear

  • ahhaha more like an artillery

  • heaviest mortar? Epic Fail! Google "Thor Mortar"

  • @S0M3K1ND0FCRAZY they mean heaviest still in use i think.

  • @S0M3K1ND0FCRAZY hahaha what a piece of shit 600 mm 124 tons now it comes!! shell weight: 2170kg NICE! weight of explosive fill 289 kg HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH LOSERS THIS IS AN EPIC FAIL in Irak they build IEDs with more explosives an compared they are stuck in the 1900 in terms of technology and strategy

  • @BRATKOV47KALASHNIKOV So you WANT something that weighs as much as a small car falling on you and exploding?

I think that would be a very efficient way to fuck up anyone's day.

  • @S0M3K1ND0FCRAZY Announcer says that this is tactical nuclear system, but can be used, including conventional and laser guided munitions.

  • @S0M3K1ND0FCRAZY The heaviest mortar in service of course.

  • Comment removed

  • durinng ww1 the french was made a bigger , a "crapouillot" de 370 mn

  • this is a mortar? this looks like an arty pice

  • Russian shopping channel

  • There will be no fighting after a nuclear exchange, period. The world will die. Russia needs to stop trying to win the Cold War and start dealing with reality.

  • Russia just resists the hegemony of USA.

  • @drogoscg Nukes are overestimated. There will be a lot of misery but the World won't die for sure.

  • Worlds heaviest is the schwerer gustav (800mm)

  • @Rockstargames6 actually the heaviest mortar is the American Little David 36 inch mortar

  • @iknowmy3table But it wasnt in use.. so it doesen't count.

  • Ну что ж ядрёным зарядом-то не долбанули? :)

  • Worlds Heaviest Mortar????

I think somone forgot about the Nazi 600mm Karl Mortar! < That is the world's heaviest/biggest mortar!!!

  • @AlasdairGreig So, wich army uses it ? This is a question of todays mortars , wich are in use...

  • Can i get one on e abay.

  • Interesting mortar. Thumbs up!

  • 2:40 haha this is drunk

  • there was a Dora though, but it was a name of one turret cannon on battleship Bismarck sunk long ago; and there is also serbian self propelled artillery B 52 NORA :)

  • @branislavpunisic Dora was the Nazis 800mm Railway Gun, but maybe one of the turrets on the Bismarck was also called Dora

  • @PUAsimon So, wich army uses this Dora? You maybe understand that it dont exist

  • @pasargad81 You should learn english...

  • It's about 40 years old, is this weapon still in use?

  • @Vrakpundare Yes, but there are very few of them. About 25 pieces.

  • It clangs like a bell when it's fired.

  • ... a fine support/siege weapon. Excellent for use in mountainous terrain or in conditions which negates use of line-of-fire weapons. This baby can deliver heavy steel on the other(enemys')side of a hill, in a valley or up on the hill- dropping in from the sky, over the top

of walls/sandbags and open bunkers... Nice.

  • First of all, Russia and the USA will never go to war. There's way too much at stake for both countries for them to risk an all out war. Second, while Russia does have low tech and good quality hardware, they have no idea how to tap into their natural resources. All the US would have to do is impose UN sanctions and blockade all supplies to Russia and win. Hitler almost won that way, only thing that got in his way was the shitty Russian winter and US/Britain sending Russia a shit-ton of support

  • @PhoenixNuke Russia and USA will never go to war cuz the whole world would get fucked up. Russia knows and does tap into their natural resources and will be doing so long after US runs out of all of it's. UN sanctions xD First of all UN will never impose sanctions on Russia cuz most of Europe will lose their supply of natural gas and other resources and even if they do impose them, Russia can trade with former USSR countries without problem and even without them Russia can easily support itself.

  • how is this better than a normal gun like a 155 mm cannon?

  • @davefla73 Don't compare long-range artillery and mortars. Different purposes, different roles on battlefield.

Equivalents of NATO 155mm artillery are 152mm Soviet/Russian artillery howitzers.

Mortars are usually 80, 120 and 125mm. This is just a super-mortar. It is not intended to compare with howitzers.

  • huuuge mortar. i just wonder, how is that better than having a howitzer? if you need a tank to move it anyway, why mortar? that thing is also super slow to reload compared to any ww2 howitzer.

  • @wtfronsson Look at the size of the round. A howitzer firing that think could be ten times larger.

  • @wtfronsson You need tank to move it for 2 reasons. First, you increase its mobility. Second, you protect the crew from contamination.

Mortars have their own role on battlefield. They should be compared with howitzers. All countries have both, and mortars, and howitzers.

  • @BitnikGr i was just wondering what is the use of mortar that big. howitzers can be guided just the same as mortars if i understood right. but i suppose special payloads need the more gentle acceleration. a howitzer would destroy more fragile contents.

  • @wtfronsson Did you mean self-guiding projectiles for howitzers? Yes. Soviet Army had "Krasnopol" round for howitzers. US Army has "Excalibur" round. But probably there is only one self-guiding mortar round and it is a "Smelchak" for "Tulip".

  • you dont know thor 60cm mortar thats the haviest and biggest and most powerfull mortar

  • it takes too long to reload

  • @evilmickey100 It used to take half an hour, now a minute, so I think that's an improvement. It also shoots nukes.

  • cool wepon, but as always bigger bang comes with a price. Bigger bang = more time wasted to reload or get it in to position. the same stupidity with german Dora gun, BIG bang but the time to relode it .... i rather not mention it.

  • quick notes: how long does it take to get it ready to fire and how long does it take to reload? usually quick firing ability is essential, unless this is used like a missile would be.

another point: how long does it take to get it maneuverable after firing? mortar trajectory is very easily spotted and anti-artillery measures (firing at the position, missile, air strike etc) are a serious threat to mortar units.

    trained in a mortar company.

  • @olvidog

    1. This is 240 mm mortar on mobile armored vehicle.

    2. It has many ammunition posibilities. Besides standard HE and HEF mortar shells (allso guided artillery missiles with GPS/GLONASS navigation system and thermobaric bombs).

    3. In modern warfare tactic, this mortar operates with modern anti-radar, electronic warfare-countermessures and antiaircraft battalions.

    4. havent you seen reloading drum mechanism for this mortar on this video ?

    5. It can fire nuclear artillery shells.

  • argh, white people...!!

  • haha the germans had a 300 mm one ^^

  • @georg214 thats not a mortar that would be artillery piece in fact thats a rail gun....that killed a total...of like 4 guys out of 5 shots

  • Little david is the heaviest mortar...

  • @Falewick

  • way to slow to be effective. they would be dead by aircraft or helicopter attack.

  • @drod103164 Thats why it has a range of 18km.... And Russians usually have shilkas or some form of AA near artillery sites like most forces who can affored any AA.

  • 0:17 omg i feel so sorry for those guys... the shock wave just from launching the mortar was incredible

  • 3:52 WTF? improvisation????

  • @CrazyMadness23 no just adding an aditional powder charge pretty normal mortar stuff not usualy this big though

  • @CrazyMadness23 No. Extra charge for distances from 10 to 18km.

  • што страшно натовцы????

  • One hell of a mortar cannon.

  • even though it has a slow rate of fire, an explosion from one of its mortars covers 4 football fields

  • A howitzer should be useful in this role... Faster reload, quick deployment and mass-constructible

  • @Rammsteinchile95

Howitzer are not even closely as mobile as this thing.

  • @shvaky

ARCHER Artillery System has a top speed of 70 Km/h, it has a crew of 4 (none of them outside of the gun), it fires 155mm shells over 500 Km. The gun takes 30 seconds to deploy and fire 20 rounds in 150 seconds. Its a Howitzer mounted in a Volvo truck. Just awesome.

  • @Rammsteinchile95 Hey hard core R+ fan, do u think the Archer is better than Tulpan. I have seen Archer on Future Weapons and it was quite impressive. What do you think ?

  • @MrBababbabaa

I think the ARCHER is more reliable because its crew its safe inside of it, It has a fast deployment speed, long reaching (500Km), and a High Speed for withdrawal, after firing all shells. I still think that is more reliable than this 240mm mortar.
