Of course he knows what hes talking about thats why they relieved him. They dont want someone whos going to tell it like it is no matter what. Now we got this new puppet general telling us all is well its a fucking joke. We need people like this man in the whitehouse not morons like obama thinking th know better about afghanistan since someone whos been there since the war started. Yet there hasn't been a vet president in a long time why do you think that is.
The objective is perpetual war. In fact, it is not a war because Congress has not declared the Afghan or Iraq military engagements as War. With the UN, any military engagement since is called conflict: Korean, Vietnam, and Iraq conflicts to name some. In fact, the first Iraq conflict was called, "Desert Storm" to mask the truth. The longer the conflict continues, the more debt is created to the benefit of financiers of both sides. Ask the Feds and the IMF/World Bank. Mr. O is the Front.
I voted for Obama and I still like him and think I made the right decision because I honestly think McCain was NOT the man for the job, but removing general McChrystal from Afganistan I believe was a grave mistake made by our president. This man is brilliant and his ONLY mistake was putting on the side Washington's script and speaking his mind out. President Obama will regret his decision.
@astrolifter I share your frustration with Obama, but I have great admiration for both generals. I am concerned that the strategy used in Iraq may prove somewhat mistargeted in the Afghan war. Petraeus is a really insightful student though. I pray he can design a winning strategy. Nonetheless, we all know that if the war is lost it won't be because of him; it will be because of the rules of engagement of this white house. Where Clinton was risk-averse; Obama is, well, a community organizer.
There is an authenticity, intelligence and humility that this man has that simply isn't present to the senses in Obama or Reid or Pelosi. Imagine dealing not only with a complex war, but with an intellectually obtuse White House. If Obama had any courage he could have shocked everyone by refusing to sell out to the Rolling Stone and their ilk by refusing to accept McCrystal's resignation. Imagine that...another lost opportunity for growth.
I serve tables for a living and if there is a problem with the guests the person who gets bashed is the server! No one blames the host, the cooks, the dishwashers or the managers! So from my perspective Obama is the server and he is taking the blame for the managers, the dishwashers, cooks, and hosts! It's a hell of a job and not everyone can do it... Stop blaming Obama, Bush, and any other person that runs for the Presidency... We The People put them there so We are to blame!
Why in the world was this general fired? I was in Iraq 06-08 (civilian). This general seems very level headed and EXACTLY the kind of person needed. Despite the constant bashing of US military in European press (always picking out 19 year old retards and putting them on screen), my experience is that the US military has a lot of very sharp and good people and have VASTLY more faith in them than our idiot - I mean IDIOT- civilian controllers in Washington from Bush & Obama admin
Afghanistan is much different than Iraq in term of government, society, and economy. The General spoke what it is happening in Afghan. However, some people doesn't acknowledge the reality of truth. Therefore, I hate to see the General got relieved from his post by the president. Noone want to see this war drag on much longer. However, I think this war will cost U.S. more than we expected, started from today!
Obama is a clown. The General has 20+ years of service defending our country, and Obama has 2 years+ of destroying our country. I take the world of the General over Bobo the Clown any day of the week. What has Obama done? Rammed a HC bill down our throats when 70 percent of the public didnt want it, allowed illegals to take control of southern AZ and live strong in the border states, bow down to a would be King in Saudi, and cause strife. He is a joke and he cant be gone soon enough....
wtf is he talking about? perceptions? indicators? credibility? wtf is he talking about? he needs more "indication" that the US is stuck? I'll give him an indication from the US state department: Matthew Hoh.
Eloquent and crystal clear.

This man speaks the truth, why are we trying to deny that we are not standing in a good position in this war. like he said we can win but
" the objective is the will of the Afghan people, we must protect the Afghan people from all threats, from the enemies and our own actions"
Its going to be a long fight...

From this speech I would say that this Genral would not ask for more troops for the thrill of it. He is Gentleman, Honorable and responsible General.
