Frank was a prolific instructor and it was around this time he released his monumental "Sweep Picking and Monster Licks" .
Evidence of Frank's influence can be heard not only in my playing but everywhere.
Hard-tail Ibanez FG models are as rare as hell now , but remain a fantastic instrument -I think based on the "Radius" design but taking it to Washburn N4 territory in terms of quality.
Frank's use of one in his "Workout" video is legendary.

This is what great players can do with the blues. I've been lucky enough to hear Lenny Breau, John Abercrombie, Keith Jarrett, Wynton Marsalis, Sonny Stitt, and Herbie Hancock in similar excursions.
Jaco made some bad choices in his life. I wish he was still with us. I'm quite certain his musical greatness would have gone far beyond the realm of bass.
i don't mean this in a jazz-dick way, but know enough jazz-dicks have come along over the years, so i'm going to get lumped, but... i really just don't dig on frank gambale that much. i know he's monster in the technique department, but so little of what he's playing in that solo got to me.
jaco's solo, though: that was cool.
anyway, if you're a gambale fan, that's cool. it just doesn't resonate with me, is all.
@MrCsabaBalogh oh, shoot... just realized i replied to you from my other youtube account... it's still "somebodyjones2" . . . this is just my beat project account.
@MrCsabaBalogh hehehe. right on. yeah. i totally don't mean to diss him... he's beast... and as far as education is concerned, EVERY GUITAR PLAYER should be paying attention to him (as i have done in the past...he taught me A LOT of speed stuff. i just don't apply it in the same way that he would)
@MrCsabaBalogh i think he's always been pretty much a standard tuning guy... if he was messing around with alternate tunings, that would be something he doesn't do anymore, but i'm more inclined to think that he never did it..

The Strat is a great guitar, but not to perform intense sweep picking. But Frank... can't believe Frank did that things using a Strat.... no way.... he's really a monster, only for that !! :)
