Frank is one thoughtful and intense dude. I wish he were still around.... his voice is sorely missed in these (still messed up) times. ...He definitely should have mentioned the name of the animator on baby snakes, Bruce Bickford, an insanely talented artist in his own right.
I was a Devoted Dementite (Dement-Ite) but I can't remember what station I received the DOKTOR on...I lived in Arkansas, it may have been "KAAT the mighty 1090" which had "BLEEKER STREET"
Americans are kinda like us Canadians as I see it Individualy awsome as hell even the guys that are going to plook the hell out of me for this comment. But as the Moral Majority we all need a lot of work I just wish guys like F.Z and G.C were still around to help guide us to our faults and make us laugh along the way.Thats what I look for in an entertainer.
How was he fearful or ignorant? He was pro-legalization. He just didn't enjoy smoking it himself (from experience) and was also not too amused with the silly glorification of the drug by the 60s drug culture. And of course he's being biased. The publication asked for his opinion so why wouldn't he be biased? There's no shortage of assholes telling you how great it is to smoke weed. Zappa resented being lumped in with such people simply b/c his music was creative.

@pinkypalmerosvideos what do you mean by "throwback"? That WAS back in the day and most likely he WAS a hippie, which is nothing whatsoever to be ashamed of.
don't expect anything so if you get something, it's a bonus. Frank didn't eliminate desire but he just took a practical approach. this chronic frustration is usually caused by high expectations and postponements.
dude, Zappa's control was 100% human. That's what made em amazing. There will never be another person like Frank, doo wop and old school r&b roots + Varese, Stravinsky?

@dclefevre Amen, and this was in the 80s! Quite a bit of what Frank says rings true, and also a bit of cynicism never hurt in small doses :)

Zappa had great delivery.

man, you can always count on zappa to give an intelligent, eloquent, and dryly, subtly hilarious interview.
and you know, demento is a big dork with canned questions, but he's genuine and doesn't get offended by frank - he's all right!

It must be about 1980 or 1981. If you listen to pt 1 Frank states that he is 40 years of age.

That's kinda crap.
Pot IS a drug like alcohol is a drug & if you're trying to dodge that point, get off the net & go back to the bong 'cause you aint making sense.

Well you can't make a fucking shoe out of cocaine.
It does alter the mind but is less harmful than many other legal substances.

That's because Frank Zappa had schizophrenia. People with that condition are generally very stoic and un-emotional.
