@TimmaahP before they got hold of the name it was known by monks as the only way to escape from a herd of Tigers ! These monks used to find a tiger herd and provoke the herd leader into chasing them down. Naturally as the tiger is a herd animal the other tigers instincts told them to follow their leader and this is the point in the story where the 'running bomb' was invented ! the monks would jump down a well to hide from the herd ! the most convenient way to enter a well at speed was the bomb !
