Raven's character really worked in places like WCW and especially ECW. A place where there's no fireworks or big elaborate stages or film intros. ECW was a place that thrived on in-ring performances and story-lines. And Raven was both, one hell of a writer and one hell of a speaker. Definitely one of the best of the business.

Raven was amazing because not only was he a good wrestler, but he had ridicules mic skills & vocabulary. Also he did a gr8 job at selling his opponents moves. Raven always looked more gritty and real, he never oversold anything. Everything looked believable. I also respect his Outsider Standing. No one could touch Raven the character, it was his own brain child and, weather the bosses liked it or not, he did it his way.

Unfortunately I believe that was his downfall aswell.

This has to be Raven at his best, before WWF/WWE could kill his name and before his body started to shut down in TNA. Back when WCW was too scared to let him have the mic for too long, and all the ECW faithful remembered him as their messiah of hardcore. I've always loved Raven on the mic and his hardcore status could be compaired to men like Hayabusa and Terry Funk. Long live Raven....the bastard child of professional wrestling
