The general idea is that any number of robots can start in an unknown room with unknown locations, and using time synchronization and line-of-sight, the robots determine distances between each other, a fixed origin, and a coordinate system.
Applications include distributed mapping, sensor networks, and really, really fast vacuuming.
This is amazing. What does the localization procedure let you do? I can see how it would be useful for mapping Mars or the Moon. Does it have any Earth based applications? (like mine sweepers, etc?)
