I learned this is Latin at five years old - learned to read music on the song. Very beautiful in any language.

We sang this song as a round in church choir one time. It was beautiful. Half the choir started out with the latin version, then the other half came in after a times of "dona nobis pacem", and they sang it in English, "Holy Father grant us peace". It was just those simple words, beautiful harmony, done in a round, and people cried.

Dona nobis pacem (Latin: Give us peace) is a phrase in the Agnus Dei section of the Roman Catholic mass. It was set as a separate, final movement in Bach's Mass in B Minor.

Oh, I just listened to it again. That's a completely different dona nobis pacem in the H-Moll-Messe. There are millions of them, because as you said, it's part of mass.
