Come on guys!! I havnt done western, but I do English, and i respect western and wouldnt say it was crap, because its not so please don't go round saying english is easy if youve never done it, horseriding isnt about the way you ride its about the bond between horse and rider! :D

i will make u ride english for tony's beautiful sake! i still don't like it thugh. i am just doing it for the horses beautiful sake and my amusment of doing diferent things. i also like to make fun of english while i am riding it! fun fun!! as long as i am on my horse.!

Well, I think because the split reins are heavier than the ordinary english riding reins, there is a little bit of contact to the bit, even if the reins seem to slack.

i do both. western is just a different style of riding. the horses r traind with little or no contact. the riding is done through your seat and legs. if i want to go one way, you push your hands in the direction you want to go, aswel as puttn your hands forward, and the horse feels the reins on its neck, telln it what way to turn. of course you use your leg at the same time. its a more natural way of riding rather than in english where you hav a tight contact, spurs and whips.

Oh, come on - I`ve ridden in english style for decades. Tight contact ? Spurs ? Whips ? Nope. I bought my very first pair of spurs when I switched to western ! (and even here they are for decoration purposes only) :-)))

i was talking about an extreem 2 contradict the two styles.. western horses are trained to hold themselves n 2 balance themselves which englsih horses arnt realy.. i prefer western to dressage any day. spurs arnt used for decoration

"hands forward" is for "go forward", at least that´s what I`ve been told. Seems logical to me. ;-)

loved it! the riders are great, they bearly move at all, they have really impressive seats. this is really neat to watch, everything is all relaxed and calm even though they are going so fast. thanks for sharing!
