hey dude, could you help me out.... i built the exact circuit from the schematic yet whenever i plug it into my guitar. the amplifier wont pick up any thing as soft as 2 strings... and when they do get picked up i only here quick/rough noises... any idea where i coulda gone wrong?
@jmastax I will try brother but it is not much detail to go on. Measure the voltage between pin 5 (DC +) and pin 3 (Ground) it should be at least 15 volts. If you are trying to run it on 9 volts or something like that it will not work properly.
Also make sure that C4 which is a 1000 uF output capacitor has the (+) lead of the cap pointing towards output pin 4. This is a big, polarized cap and if you soldered it in backwards you will definitely kill the sound. Hope this helps.
I built one too with a 6in 6W speaker. I use an acoustic with magnetic soundhole pickup. Is the recording using the built-in speaker only? It sounds great

horrible attention to detail... if you went through all that trouble building it, why not fix the grill and lose the ugly tape
